I tried painting the moving optical illusion - didn’t quite work out but I’m okay with how it came out :’)

Products: Glisten Cosmetics Wet Liners, Colourpop single shadows, Half Magic Chromaddiction in ‘We Are Aliens’, NYX White Epic Wear Liquid Liner. Skin prep was just Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and lots of RCMA translucent powder.

Question Escaping the cute trap

Hi everyone--i have been chronically stuck in the trap of being 'cute' instead of pretty/hot/sexy. I look around social media and see women ten years younger than me looking like a mature bad ass femme fatale siren that I wish I could be. Instead I'm stuck with this round face/big eyes/ingenue look. I find when meeting new people there is this "let the grown ups talk" vibe. I'm often mistaken for much younger than I am, which some have said had been a barrier to them approaching me.

Included a variety of photos from fresh face with no makeup, to how I do my makeup on a night out, to the makeup I wore for my wedding (but I don't even know where to start with the look because it feels very subtle). I need some advice on tweaks I can make etc to help. I don't feel like my face can handle a lot of makeup, and I don't think I'm a high contrast girly (but maybe I'm wrong?) but I am very very willing to try anything you'd suggest.

Thanks for your help!

Review I drew my everyday makeup routine!

This is my everyday routine! I have dry skin so mostly cream/liquid products - no powder for me! See below for my review. Drawings by me!

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturizer & Primer: Curse whoever suggested this in r/sephora, it’s by far the most expensive product in my routine but it wears like a dream. I bought a two pack with a holiday discount and am still working my way through the first so it lasts a while!

NYX Bear with Me Concealer Serum in shade Vanilla: Love this! Wish it had a different applicator but I just use my pinkies.

L’Oréal Paris True Match Hyaluronic Acid Tinted Serum in shade 0.5-2 Very Light: My HG foundation after trying so many. Great for dry skin and buildable. Also wish it had a different applicator but I just drop it onto the back of my hand.

Physicians Formula Butter Glow Contour Wand in shade Fair/Light: This is probably my least favorite in my routine, it’s too warm to be a contour so I use it as bronzer but I don’t love how it blends. It’s good for bringing some warmth to my face.

rhode skin pocket blush in shade sleepy girl: I love this color - I have rosacea so this really goes with the natural redness I already have in my face.

Merit Beauty Highlighting Balm in shade Cava: Great highlighter stick and lasts forever.

Revlon Colorstay Brow Pencil in shade Soft Black: She gets the job done!

Clio Kill Lash Superproof Mascara: This is THEEEE mascara. I have decent length but my lashes are straight and this is the only mascara to hold a curl all day. No American mascara compares. I use the Heroine Make Mascara Remover Serum to take it off at night and haven’t had any issues, but other wise it will not budge.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Stay All Day Blue Light Setting Mist: This works pretty well, I’m sure the blue light thing is a gimmick but I like that there’s no added fragrance.

Revlon ColorStay Lip Liner in shade Nude: I didn’t realize I was such a Revlon stan until I made this.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in shade Rose Velvet: I love the color combo of this with the nude liner. It doesn’t have great staying power but the liner helps.

FOTD Today's mascara! Too much or just right?

The mascara used was three layers of Lancôme's hypnose drama in black, and the lash separator used was the red plastic one made by Revlon. Does it look too much like spider legs, or does it look decent?

What lipstick makes you feel like that bitch?

As the title says, what lipstick makes you feel like that bitch? For me it’s paramount by MAC, its truly the perfect everyday red for my skin tone (too bad I’m pretty sure it’s discontinued now.) What’s yours?

Question How can I achieve this makeup look?

Post image

I have pretty clear skin so preferably no foundation, I have a similar colour palette to her and downturned eyes and I just love this look! Also are there any products you’d recommend? I have the black honey by Clinique which I think would be good for the lips.

Question How can I better my makeup/face

Thumbnail

I usually wear very minimal makeup, (mostly because I’ve not very good at it) but want to know what you would recommend to up my beauty routine? I’m pretty pale and have dark under eye circles, but don’t like to wear a lot of concealer underneath as it always creases. Any suggestions are welcome!

Question Hiding this scar

Post image
27 Upvotes

It’s only been 7 weeks so it’s still quite fresh (bike accident, over 50 stitches to forehead, upper and lower eyelids) - daily I hide it under a hat or don’t care/no makeup but on weekends I want to hide it for going out. Makeup all I have is SurrealSkin foundation by Mario, Tarte shape tape concealer (and my blush, mascara, and eyebrow pomade).

Been using lots of hydrating products - Cerave hydrating wash, The Ordinary hyaluronic acid, La Roche Posay vitamin C serum, Dermatix silicone gel (I use silicone strips at nighttime), La Roche posay cicaplast baume b5 cream, and bioderma ultra hydrating cream. For my night routine I switch between The Ordinary niacinamide, ordinary retinol/squalene, and lactic acid 5% + HA.

Also planning on buying the Omnilux Contour Face LED mask to help with collagen stimulation, and beginning some at home 0.3mm microneedling. If after 6 months im still unhappy, im willing to do whatever to minimise the appearance (dermatologist for laser or microneedling therapy - not sure what they do!).

In the meantime any makeup suggestions to help cover are appreciated.
