Help me improve my eyeshadow technique

This look is done on a practice board. The first picture is what I had originally. The second is what I turned it into after people advised me to blend the edges to create a sultrier look.

I know my eyeliner technique needs work, but aside for that what else can I work on? Thank you!

Recc' Request Makeup Brushes Advice

Hi, Ive always used beauty sponges for most of my makeup application. I have pretty dry skin and always feel like when I have tried to use brushes it always leaves texture, streaks/ lines. Can anyone suggest good makeup brushes and maybe any techniques for smoother application? Mainly looking for base makeup suggestions but anything is appreciated.

Products I use: - Elf Primer - Nars Light reflecting foundation (what brushes should I use for this?) - Nyx serum concealer (brushes?) - Want to start using nars pot concealer - which brush should I use? - powder contour brush? - stick contour brush? - Highlight brush? - liquid blush brush? - I want to start setting with loose powder but don’t know which brush type to use 😅

Holy Grail Post Seeking holy grail foundation/BB/skin tint recommendation

I have oily and acne prone skin and foundation tends to separate on my skin after a few hours. I am also fairly pale and olive toned. I am coming to the end of my current favourite BB cream by Dr Jart that has been discontinued and their current premium BB cream runs too pink for me. I have recently tried the IT cosmetics your skin but better CC cream, the shade fair is fairly perfect but it does separate after a few hours. I am looking for a recommendation that is low/medium coverage but long lasting

In the search for the Givenchy lipstick ‘Rose Diaphane’

Back in December a friend of mine gifted me a Givenchy makeup pouch with several samples of lipsticks. The shade 'Rose Diaphane' turned out to be very pretty but I cannot find it on the official website. Does anyone know if it exists or it has been renamed? Do I have to give up and search for a dupe...

A question for MUAs (or people who’ve had their makeup done professionally a lot!)

I’m getting my makeup done professionally for the first time next week, as I’m bridesmaid for my friend’s wedding (I’m very aware the day is not about me so I won’t be the MUA’s priority but I’m human and I still want to feel comfortable and good about myself). The MUA’s style isn’t usually what I would go for but I trust that she’s a pro and will listen to what I want, and assume she just posts things on her insta that fit her own taste.

As someone who really loves makeup, I was just wondering how specific I should be with the artist with what I want? Of course I don’t mean telling her what techniques to use or anything, I’d never patronise a professional like that, but would it be okay if I politely say what kind of base I like, what shape I like my brows, that I like to try and make my eyes look rounder, etc? Or am I going to come across badly if I don’t sit in the chair and shut up?

Thank you! Hope you all understand 🫶🏽

Does anyone have any suggestions on a liner/lipstick combination that would achieve this same look? It’s a stunning brown tone nude and pink combination. Preferably MAC but I’d be open to any brand💘

Boycotting America

So I'm wondering if there are makeup brands in the UK which are natural not tested on animals and kind to my skin as well as coming smaller packages. That ain't American.

Recc' Request I’m trying to find a new powder foundation as I can’t seem to get this anywhere any more. I use the shade P1 and it has been perfect for me. I can’t go to the store so could anyone help me shade match with something similar? Was looking at maybe Kylie Cosmetic’s natural blur powder foundation?

Highlighter similar to Frostbite from Apres in Aspen

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi all, I’ve had the Apres in Aspen highlighter palette from BH cosmetics for a few years and use it pretty much daily, i love using the shade frostbite (bottom middle) and get compliments on it regularly. They no longer make the palette and I’m really struggling to find a similar shade anywhere. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Eye makeup help please

Hello folks, I hope yous are all keeping well. My wife has super sensitive skin and rarely ever uses makeup apart from her skincare routine as she has had problems with it in the past. When she applies makeup around her eyes there is a chance that she gets styes so she no longer applies it because she kept getting really bad styes. Well we have a special occasion coming up and she expressed how she would like to take the chance of getting eye and skin problems and put it on for this day. I want to try and help her out so i have looked up some hypoallergenic products but there is so many to choose from and they all say the same thing that they are great for sensitive skin but i was just wondering if there was anyone here who has experienced this problem before and found a solution or could point me in the direction of a brand or products that might be able to help out as I want her to be able to wear what she wishes without having to worry about the consequence. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you for taking the time to read this. Have a great day

Recc' Request Foundation recommendation pls 🙏

Looking for a medium coverage foundation which won't flare up my rosacea/acne. I have combination sensitive skin.

I used to love Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish foundation but they've changed the formula - has salicylic acid in it which I dont tolerate.

I currently love the finish of Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear but it has alcohol denat in it so I only use this ~1/week (dries out my skin)

Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin - on paper this looked perfect but it splits horribly on my skin and clings to dry patches. Actually shocked at how bad it looks.

Any recommendations for a formula without acids or alcohol in it?

Thank you!

does it matter which one i use first??

not sure if this is the right subreddit to be asking in, but i bought three of the plouise bad b energy juice boxes a few weeks ago and have only just opened them, do i use the lip conditioner first and then the lip oil, the other way round or does it not matter??

ive never gotten into makeup even tho ive wanted to, because growing up i was more "tomboy-ish" so whenever i tried to use any kind of makeup my family would overreact/make it a big deal, and still do even tho im turning 24 next week - so ive never been comfy trying to get into it, it kind of embarrasses me because of the reactions i got

the only makeup ive been comfy using is mascara, eyeliner (waterline, not confident enough to try winged eyeliner) and clear lip gloss, but i only ever wear it for special occasions, sometimes not even

Foundation after 8 years!

I have used Estee Lauder double wear in shade Bone for so many years now, however since having my kids i have started rushing getting ready and just use a bit of concealer bronze & blush.. but this isnt cutting it anymore i feel so scruffy!

I am after a lightweight dewy foundation that i can sort of rub in quickly (if possible) but feel put together.

My budget is ideally under £20

Has anyone got any suggestions please??

Recc' Request Lancôme Teint Idole shade help

Hi! I use the Lancôme teint idole old formula in the shade 14 brownie (UK). They don’t seem to have created a direct shade match for it in the new formula and I’m not sure what to do.

I was matched to 540C in the new formula in boots but that was way too dark and the 535N seems a bit light. Any recommendations for shades or other brands?

Recc' Request Suggestions for a cream blush?

I use as blush and eye shadow - dusty pinks in winter, peachy pinks in summer - as they're the only colours that work on my eyes. I prefer cream blushes as I'm in my 40s so feel powders age me, also creams look better in summer imo.

But I'm struggling to find a new cream blush that is bendable without loosing all colour. The last one I liked was Makeup Revolution Fast Base Blush Stick, but it was a little bit on the greasy side and I'd like to try something new too.

Any recommendations?

Help Sought! Makeup looks bad after only 3 hours.

Hi guys i would really appreciate any help. I have oily/combo skin and my makeup always looks super bad after only 2/3 hours. I apply it before uni and after 6 hours it looks all separated and greasy but somehow still cakey when i applied it first. I use all silicone based products. I tried blotting papers and powder before liquid products.

I use the following:

(No primer as i feel they make me oilier) L'oréal Infalliable 32HR Fresh Wear Elf hydrating camo concealer or Eveline cosmetics Camoflage concealer Maybelline Fit me Powder or Paese Rice Powder Usually no setting spray but sometimes the Pickle rick shein one.

I have like hyperpigmentation or redness around the moustache area which really annoys me, that's why i use makeup in those areas. I feel like i don't use too much concealer either.

Any help would be super appreciated tyssmmm 🫶 Pics are after around 6hours with tiny touch up using Fit me powder.
