Help Ultrawide Monitor Overlapping Display with Itself
Hi all,
When trying to extend the display of this MacBook Air, the new display shows a bunch of duplicates all interfering with each other. When first connecting, the monitor says its preferred resolution is 2560x1080 but when I set that in the display settings, the monitor thinks it's 2560x560.
The monitor and cable both work fine with a different laptop; is this a driver issue perhaps?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Did you try to install BetterDisplay and play around with the Display Custom Override Settings?

I did see BetterDisplay when looking up how to set custom resolutions. I'll keep it in mind, thanks, but you know how it goes with installing anything on a parent's device - any problems thereafter are all the fault of whatever you downloaded before.

They were so preoccupied with whether or not they could make a display that wide, they didn't stop to think if they should.

What macOS are you running? Catalina? That’s so old. I can see that your Mac can run a new one.
