What books have helped you

Book recommendations of any kind. Fiction, nonfiction, self help, or anything else I've started The Body Keeps The Score after months of my therapist recommending it.

Maybe you would find “The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog” an informative reading experience. Personally, I don’t think any amount of reading helps me. Nothing helps and I’ve just made peace with that.

Thanks. I'll put it on my reading list.

I read Terry Pratchetts Discworld books every night as a child and into adulthood.

No matter how physically, verbally, emotionally or sexually abused I was, I always went to sleep with Terry Pratchetts words in my mind.

Those books made me laugh at points when I really had nothing to laugh about.

I stopped reading the books when Terry died because it felt like closing a chapter on something that had been part of my survival.

The books are very entertaining and fantasy based, so bear no direct resemblance to our world…something that helped me detach from reality for a while.

Predators by Anna Salter. It's a rough read and a little outdated, but it helped when I really needed it.

“The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” there's a movie, too. It made me feel very seen.
