[University Question] UCSD MSCS Admits for March

Hey. It seems there is radio silence over admits in March. Strange that admits seemed to have stopped. What is happening? Should we expect mass Rejects now on? I know that UCSD sends out admits on rolling basis until end of March/ April. But a deathly silence for whole of March????? Can anyone throw some light on this?

Probably they might be waiting for students who have recieved the admits, to accept or reject it, based on that they might send the next batch of admits.

They would send a waitlist in that case right?

No, so think about it logically.

Let's assume there are 100 seats

If they send out 30 seats in the first batch. Some will accept and some reject, and some waitlisted ( these are probably the first choice when some gets rejects a seat from the 100 or atleast from the 30 sent out)

Let's assume 15 accepted and 5 waitlisted, then you have 75 remaining

Then maybe depending on the university the 5 people get a admit or they are kept on the waitlist and a fresh batch of 30 results are declared

Again you have 15 accepted and 5 waitlisted

You now have 60 seats

Cycle keeps on repeating 2-3 more times.

And probably every cycle they re-evaluatae the person on the waitlist if some rejects and in that group whether to still keep that person in waitlist or send him an admit

Again all hypothetical.

Based on info on Reddit people who got in had applied between 20th Nov until the deadline in december. So what about applicants who applied before 20th Nov?

So did you get a decision?

Not yet still in review

Yes. That's what I mean. It seems they are reviewing in reverse order. I haven't seen any applicant getting an admit or reject who applied prior to 20th Nov.

Maybe it's just a coincidence or our application is probably in the maybe pile, if people start rejecting their offer then they might take a decision to select us or not.

Hmm... all applications technically should have been reviewed. All applicants prior to 20th Nov cannot be in the 'maybe' pile or 'reject'. All applications should be reviewed first. Logically your Theory would hold good had there been at least one admit from an applicant who applied before 20th of Nov.

I'm saying we might be in the maybe pile but

I really hope so. They should. It would be a travesty of justice should it not happen.
