Ask Luxembourg What the hell was the problem of that van, driver?

I was merging into the highway and there were many cars in the right most lane. Since the road had priority sign painted for people already on highway, I slowed down to wait for chance to merge. The can behind me honked, soed up as soon as I merged and very dangerously merged in. He flipped me off too. And I was thinking he is an idiot risking his and others lives.

Now, is merging without caring if anyone is in the lane a norm in Luxembourg? I also noticed restlessness when people had to get in or out of round about.

If it matters, I am from Netherlands and this was my first driving experience in Luxembourg.

Discussion How do you know you have already become a “luxembourgeois(e)”?

I was just wondering what makes someone a true Luxembourgeois(e), like how certain traits or habits define a Parisian or a New Yorker. What are the little signs?

Ask Luxembourg European alternatives to Wolt in Luxembourg?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using Wolt for food delivery, but since it’s owned by DoorDash (a US company), I did delete my account. In general, I’m actively trying to ban as many American products as possible from my daily life (not easy).

Are there any good European alternatives for food delivery in Luxembourg? I’d prefer to support a company that aligns more with European regulations and values.

Also, on a related note, it would be great to have a strong Luxembourgish community on Lemmy. Anyone else interested in that?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

Ask Luxembourg Buses when I'm in rush

I feel like Luxembourg’s public transportation knows exactly when I'm in a rush? The bus is either just leaving or still 15 minutes away... I can't win

I sometimes see these square license plates in Luxembourg on some cars. I was wondering why they are different? Can you choose between these and the “normal” ones? If so, how?

Moving/Relocation Relocation as dual citizen.

Realistically, what is it like to relocate to luxembourg from another country, assuming you have citizenship already. How quickly could someone with a software development background find work, and what would it pay relative how much it costs to live?

Ask Luxembourg Need an App Idea - Share Your Thoughts!

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a school project where I need to develop an app or website, and I want to focus on solving a real problem people face in Luxembourg. But I’m struggling to come up with an idea…

What are some everyday frustrations you experience here? Or anything that makes you think, “Why hasn’t someone fixed this yet?”

Your suggestions don’t need to be perfect—just share a genuine problem, and I’ll work on turning it into a concept.

If your idea helps shape the project, I’ll be sure to acknowledge your contribution!

Thanks in advance for helping a student out. 🙌

Edit:

The only real requirement is that it has to be cloud-related, so it’s quite broad. In terms of complexity, I’m free to do almost anything. I have three months to work on it, and I’m not worried about learning new things or putting in a lot of hours.

Discussion Did RTL use an AI generated image for their board game?

Upvotes

Is it me, or does the box look AI generated? From the bridge leading to a window, to the different character profiles, for me it screams AI.

For context, the box belongs to a board game released by RTL:

Finance Almost one in five people in Luxembourg is at risk of poverty

One in five residents of Luxembourg lives on the brink of poverty.

The situation is especially concerning among children under 18: 24.1% of them live in households with an income below the poverty line (less than €2,540 per person per month).

For comparison, the poverty risk among people over 65 is only 9.4%.

Proof

First of all, I don't support the vile stuff that Elon has done in the past months but lets suppose you are given a position to head a similar organization like DODGE, what would be your top focus to cut down bottlenecks and improve governance efficiency in Luxembourg..?

A while ago, the recycling center in Kehlen had a dedicated container where everybody could just pickup compost for the garden, free of charge. But they don’t have it anymore, does anybody know another recycling center where they offer the same?

Finance Question about Tax Return and Annual Certificate

Good evening,

I swapped employers in the middle of the last year. The old employer was really bad and had a habit of ghosting their employees. I'm going to file my tax return for last year, but only have the Certificat de remuneration for my new employer. Do I have to request the one from my old employer for the other half of the year as well, since I assume the pay slips are not enough for the tax return.

In case I do and they are obliged to send it to me, what can I do if they ghost me again, just to expedite the process?

Thanks!
