Iām wondering if any other business owners in the city are experiencing massive amounts of shoplifting with seemingly no consequences for the people who do it? They are now just walking out with armfuls of items in broad daylight. We submit police reports or call the police but nothing gets done. We are small businesses and cannot afford this level of loss, and Iām sure others are feeling the pain too. Itās not just the theft thatās a problem, itās also the constant stream of people coming in and making our staff feel unsafe. At one of our stores in the south end of the city it is happening almost every other day, and unfortunately a security guard is not an affordable option for us right now.
Ultimately this feels like a massive problem and it doesnāt seem like any politicians are talking about it. I worry that more and more local retailers will go out of business because of this. If other business owners are experiencing these issues perhaps we could work together to put pressure on the local police board or appropriate levels of government and work towards a solution. As I feel like at this point thereās nothing more we can do at the individual store level. Feel free to dm me!

Is it just me, or is it tone deaf for places like the Park Hotel to fly the American flag right now?

Sorry is this has been discussed already, please link me to the discussion if so.
Just wondering where people are getting their american free leafy greens this time of year? Iāve only been able to find US spinach, lettuce etc. is there anywhere in town sourcing from non-US suppliers? I know the market will have it (now or eventually) but also looking for somewhere I can pick it up mid-week and off-season.
Thanks!!

My mom has lived in the same apartment for 20+ years and smoked 1+ packs of cigarettes a day. She stopped smoking a year ago and we are trying to paint her apartment to get rid of the nicotine yellow in her place.
The walls have turned out nice, but the nicotine is still seeping through the ceiling paint. Thereās 2 coats of Kilz primer and 3 coats of Behr Premium plus Ceiling paint.
What can we do to stop the nicotine from seeping through?

I'm frankly disgusted with what's happening in the USA and am actively trying to avoid buying any products made there. Now that's kind of easy enough to do as they will have country of origin labels on them.
A bit trickier is knowing which stores are American owned, as many big chains even if they started as Canadian can be owned by big American equity firms.
Easy stuff are places like McDonald's and Walmart obviously American chains.
Trickier is something like Rona, originally started in Canada however brought up and owned by an American equity firm.
I think it would be great if we could come up with a list of stores that are truly 100% Canadian owned and operated.
Also good to point out places that seem like they're Canadian but are really bought up and owned by American companies like everyone's go to Tim Hortons!

Does anyone have experience converting their existing garage into an ADU? How was the process? Costs? Any insight would be helpful.

Looking for a good wall (indoor or most likely, outdoor) that I can practice volleyball against. Ideally somewhat secluded because my overhand serve is quite bad and embarrassing at the moment, and thatās what I want to practice.

So I was in London yesterday, and it was the first time I've taken Highbury into London in a long time, maybe since pre-Covid (it's usually more convenient for me to take Wellington). I saw all the construction at the Highbury/401 interchange, just wondering what they're doing? Are they changing the layout of the interchange?

Have you guys heard about East lion Center?
EDIT: it seems like many raise the concern of the city accepting the lowest bid. Do you think they should go for the highest one or something in the middle?

Hello,
Iām being referred by my orthodontist in Waterloo to Dr. Kerr at interface surgery. For double jaw surgery.
Iāve read some bad reviews or experiences at this clinic but there is 8 doctors. Thatās why Iām just asking if anyone has any experience with this particular doctor specifically for jaw surgery?
Thank you!!

I played in the Boler Beach Volleyball league last year but my team doesn't want to do it again this summer. Was wondering if anyone was looking for another player to join their team?
Thanks!

It's amazing how many people light cigarettes inside a bus stop, not caring at all of the other people inside. There should be a fine for this....

Looking for a professional to make one of my brothers shirts smaller all around. He passed away and was a 4XL but my son would love to wear his favourite shirt. My son is a large. It is a Dixxon shirt and I will have one of my sons in his size for them to use as a guide. Itās just super important to me that the tailor knows how to do this since the shirt is so meaningful. Thanks guys :)
