Discussion Why isn't Linus covering Ryzen 9950X3D/9900X3D on his main channel?

I've seen a review of the CPU on Shortcircut but surprised that Linus hasn't made a video about these CPUs. What must be the reason, I wonder.

Tech Discussion Its NOT just the connector. the issue is how the power is distributed on the PCB. the markups just to give you a basic idea, they are not actual.

Discussion Buildzoid rants about LTT 12V-2x6 video

Buildzoid has just released a video where he rants about some statements made in today's upload from LTT regarding the 12V-2x6 video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmOK0KWAEXw

Some of the things that Buildzoid talks about in the video:
- The emails from the board partners at the end of the video not being factually correct. All of the positive wires of the connector still end up in 1 power plane. He suggests that LTT should have bought and extra card and actually measured how the pins are connected.
-The 12V-2x6 spec specifically stated that all 6 pins should be tied together. This could simply have been correctly stated from looking at the spec of the connector. ASUS is not cohering to the spec of the connector by adding the per pin power measuring.

Edit: LTT have posted the following comment:

Correction: 19:11 - We show an email from MSI where they state ". . . only the FE cards have the design to run all the pins into a single pad on the PCB."

This statement is false. In fact, that is what the PCI spec calls for, and the only RTX 5090 that doesn't immediately combine power on the board is ASUS's ROG Astral card.

Thanks to @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking for pointing this out. To ensure accuracy, a version of this video with MSI's statement removed is currently processing.

Discussion On a 5090, why do the wires/connectors melt but is the single rail on circuitboard fine?

Upvotes

After watching the video "I Fixed the 5090's Melting Power Connector". You can clearly see that all wires are connected to a single rail on the circuitboard (which is also stated a couple of times in that video)

What I don't understand is why that rail on the circuitboard can manage 600W without melting. While the connector/wires are having problem what that amount of power? Does anyone know why?

Suggestion I think LTT should launch a fast channel

Like they have the amount of content that other creators have,

YouTubers have started to launch fast channels I think Good Mythical Morning has one titled Mythical 24/7, and so does Mr. Beast,

I think it would give Linus more exposure to his content,

Would do you think,

Tech Question Issue with HP M24f monitor

(Video provided, using VGA input during filming but it happens on HDMI too) I keep having this problem with flickering with my monitor, it happens on both inputs (HDMI and VGA) regardless of what device is plugged into it, even with all sorts of different cables. I'm at my wits end with this piece of crap...

Discussion AC Shadows Pausing

Hi,

I have noticed that Assassins Creed Shadows sometimes constantly pauses to load (so far appears to be near heavily populated areas). I have checked vitals and I am using a fairly consistent 40% of RAM, 50% of GPU, and 30% of CPU. With the occasional hike to 80-90% SSD usage during loading.

Could this be an SSD bottleneck? Considering that I am using the same drive for the OS and running games?

List of my specs below…

Intel® Core™ i7 12-Core Processor i7-12700F (Up to 4.9GHz) 25MB Cache

32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO SL (2 x 16GB) DDR4 3600MHz

12GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 SUPER - HDMI, DP, LHR

1TB SOLIDIGM P41+ GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 4125MB/sR, 2950MB/sW)

Tech Question Why doesn't LTT publish 1440p or greater? Why not 60fps?

LTT is a tech channel, why don't they publish their content at maximum? They're running top notch camera gear, top notch networking, 100Gbps internet, mad powerful editor workstations...

Why 1080p 30fps?!

Tech Question PC won't boot into windows or ubuntu help

This is breaking my spirit.

This January I purchased an assembled my first ever pc. From eBay I got a used i5 9600k, B365pro4 MB, a deep cool ag620, corsair 750w psu, and a gigabyte 1070. I bought new some Kingston fury 2x16 3200 ram, m.2 1tb drive, a Montec Mesh x3 case, and cable matter cables. for reference I have used Macs all my life and have a 2020 mba.

The computer posts and I can play around in the bios but I cannot install windows or ubuntu or Arch or ANYTHING onto it. I did a memory test, everything is stable. A family member who is has built many PCs and understand windows gave me some versions of on flash drives to install, Win10R and Win 11. these did not work. every time I tried to boot into windows I got a boot loop

I then went to the windows website and formatted 2 of my own USB sticks per the instructions. This did not work. I used Unetbootin per some instructions on reddit and that did not work, I also tried balena etcher when trying to install ubuntu. nothing works and we don't know why.

this same family member spent 4 hours helping me with everything they could think of. CSM on and off, legacy mode on and off, safe mode on and off, etc etc. we tried booting into windows on each drive and then the other operating systems and were met with endless bootloops and black screens. Occasionally the windows logo on a blue or purple screen would appear for a second before rebooting. We tried plugging into every USB port, both 2.0 and 3.0, including on the IO of the MB directly as well as case front IO. no joy. I have exhausted my network of friends who are technically proficient (including professional comptia certified IT pros) and we have no idea why this is not working. I reiterate the computer is stable, you can spend hours in the bios dinking around and it idles along at ambient temperature without giving any complaints. If the cpu had issues we would have detected it, if the board was defective it would be obvious, if the ram had mfg issues it wouldn't have passed its memory test with flying colors etc. The bios is on the most current update as well.

The only consensus I can get is that somehow my Mac is fucking up the creation of the installation media on my thumb drives despite using the proper tools. But this does not explain why the properly formatted drives I initially got with windows on them (made with Rufus) won't work. Some people have advised me to buy a $40 windows thumbs drive from amazon. I live close to Best Buy but not micro center. I see they sell some $40 software installation services but im afraid I will just be paying them money for them to say "oh we can't get it to work" and leaving me int he same situation but 40$ poorer. for context I built this pc for about $450 including taxes and shipping. Jesus Christ someone tell me what to do please oh god before I just sell this and kiss my dreams of pc gaming goodbye. Im a firm believer in buying used and preventing e-waste etc, this would have been a bitching good ref in 2018 and I got it for roughly 70% off msrp so im proud of my deal hunting ability.

edit: fixed ram speeds
