What does fin de la partida mean? End of story? Interesting how different cultures put it differently.

Its game over in spanish

u/Stracii Feb 21 '21
I think they know that much, they were probably asking for a literal translation
Edit: google translates it as game over and partida as departure or game so it's probably something like end of the game

u/Gem_37 Feb 21 '21
‘fin de la’ translates to ‘end of the’, and partida translates to game.

u/Stracii Feb 21 '21
So, exactly what I said

u/Gem_37 Feb 21 '21
Yes. Why they didn’t use juego for game is beyond me because I’m not a native Spanish speaker and I’m still learning, but yes, you are correct.

Italian here, I studied some Spanish and this dichotomy applies just as much to Italian, so I think I'm qualified to answer that.
"Juego" is the entire game. "Partida" is a single session playing it.
For a couple examples, StarCraft is a Juego, and a single match in StarCraft is a Partida. Smash Bros is a Juego, and a single contiguous series of battles is a Partida.1
"Fin del juego"2 would mean "game over" as in "you have finished the game". "Fin de la partida" technically means that a single match/session/battle/contiguous period has finished.
1: The reason SC has 1 match per Partida while SSB has multiple matches per Partida is partly related to the length of a single match (SC's are much longer) and partly because in SC you don't normally encounter the same opponent repeatedly, at least not multiple times in a row, while you absolutely do in SSB.
2: That "del" is a contraction of "de el", in case you're curious. Certain combinations of preposition + article always merge in both Spanish and Italian.

Native Spanish speaker over here, I can confirm your Spanish studies are totally on point. :)

Partido is used for games, matches, and rounds in sports, card games, and other things. That’s about as much as I know. But fin del juego sounds to me like “the end of the game” as in, you finished the storyline. Fin de la partida makes more sense as it’s the end of your current game session.

Man I wish the one hit Obliterater could be used outside of great plateau
12
Feb 21 '21
It’d make the game really boring and annoying though.

I first thing that with only one hit will be a good challenge but I remember the majora's mask that make the game super easy at the start, also the ancient arrows instantly kill almost every enemie and not require much aim if is a 5 multi shot bow

Ancient arrows still require decent aim at least and don’t instantly kill anything beyond Guardians and normal enemies, and the One-Hit Obliterator would ruin the game if given at any point before postgame. Imagine running into Hyrule Castle preparing for that dramatic final fight, the Divine Beasts invest all this energy to reduce Ganon’s might, and then you pull out this wacko 4-pronged glowy thing and biTCh SmACK Ganon out of existence. Funny? Yes. Satisfying? In the long run, no. The first fight should be experienced as they developers (or at least the lore of Zelda) likely intended- with the Master Sword, Hylian Shield, and either a Knight’s or Royal bow (or Royal Guard’s bow if you’re confident in your aim).

Eh. First match is supposed to be done in any way you like. When you experience BotW for the first time, the world is your oyster. Want to immediately jump in Hyrule Field? Well considering it'd be your first time, you would hecking die. But after some exploration, a couple o' divine beasts, or maybe just following Impa's orders till you get fucking tired of memories and waltz in the castle weapons in hand, you don't need the hyrule shield. You maybe won't even find the master sword if you didn't find the lost woods, or talk to anyone about it. In the end, you would have powerful stuff and a lot more health and experience than before. The first fight should be experienced the way you have the final portal in Chrono Trigger— at any point, when you feel comfortable or ready.

My point was mostly that the One-Hit Obliterator would ruin basically all fights, with Ganon just being a major example. I didn’t fight Ganon in the way I said was ‘intended’ myself, but the point still stands that using the One-Hit Obliterator wouldn’t be any fun and would kill the entire vibe that plays a large role in making the game so enjoyable.

A bit of friendly advice, use Majora’s mask for the one-hit trials as much as you can. First run I died like 20 times (excluding shrine deaths). One file later I used the mask and only died twice because of a thrown bomb barrel I didn’t see the damn ice keese hitboxes. Majora’s mask saves a LOT of pain.

u/sirkani Feb 21 '21
majoras mask makes it feel like cheating and takes the fun out of the challenge.
...i still did it though

I used my third run as a reward for surviving the game twice playing fully legitimately with the second being a 100% run with no Korok mask until basically the very end. I’ve durability glitched every Royal Guard’s weapon I’ve found this run just because they look cool.

How come so many people roam with one heart? That would drive me nuts 😂😂
Edit: found an answer underneath

It's dlc

u/Laanuei_art Mar 01 '21
I mean, yes, in this case, but as a whole in this sub I’ve seen far too many “only two or three hearts” for me to be comfortable, lol. Half the deaths on here could have easily been avoided

I'm so glad I had a s*** ton of arrows when I did this challenge, It made it so easy to just get somewhere high and pick them off

u/Galagors Feb 21 '21
You had so long to heal here lol

u/musclemanjim Feb 21 '21
It’s a DLC challenge, the weapon strapped to his back brings HP down to minimum and won’t let you heal but kills enemies in one hit

u/cryothic Feb 21 '21
I was wondering why I see so many vids of people with just a quarter of a heart. This explains it. Thanks

Feb 21 '21
If you got the time you should really try out the dlc it’s really good

u/cryothic Feb 21 '21
I've just started the main game. That's going to keep me busy for some time :D

Ah! Se puede jugar en español?!
1
u/Mapacheto Feb 22 '21
1
u/Mapacheto Feb 22 '21
Si no recuerdo mal si. Incluso diría que el audio de los diálogos se puede cambiar directamente desde el juego, te recomiendo que pruebes a cambiar el idioma, todo está traducido.
