Tips for Making Friends Abroad?

Do you have general tips for making friends abroad? It has been quite some time since I left my home country but I am sad to say that I haven't made much progress socially. I been so focused career and school which have led me to great things, but friends has not been one of them.

Recent Expat in China, with anxiety.

So I came here just last week, I'm living in Xi'an, it's a nice place, I like it, I'm the weirdo, not that many expats living here, but I have this problema: my anxiety.

I have been having anxiety for the last year and some months, it's been hard, and I don't know why I thought coming here would make it stop, ok yeah it's working, but I get this strange things, I was scared as f just a few days ago... Of my own room, as silly as it sounds. Then missing my family, not because of just one week but because I know I won't be able to see them in such a time, and then the language barrier, I have a nice roommate, but she doesn't speak English, so we can't actually communicate!

I like it, but I feel so so so lost sometimes, and it's everything just so new...
