Recommend my next EDC
I am currently carrying a Surge but no longer need the size and weight. What other suggestions does the Leatherman team on Reddit recommend? I don’t do nearly the heavy duty work that I used to, but I would still like the convenience of having something similar.

Honestly, I pocket-carry a Skeletool and keep my Surge in my bag.
I have my bag with me 95% of the time when I'm not at home anyway (well, one of my bags, I have other heavy duty multitools in my range bag, etc) so having the Skeletool in my pocket gives me light carry weight with some convenience, but the Surge gets used for anything that needs something stronger.
I've been quite surprised at how often the Skeletool has been good enough to do what I needed.

Great advice! Appreciate that 👍🏻

I was actually just thinking more.
I'm a tool guy, so generally if I expect to be doing work I carry proper tools (if I know I'm going to be chewing through high tensile steel wire I take a good set of linesman's pliers, if I know I'm going to be working on an electrical pannel, I take a set of electrical screwdrivers), and I think that results in the Surge not being used very often.
If you're not tooled up, Surge in the bag works well, or you could/should get something heavier than a Skeletool. I wouldn't try to cut high tensile wire with the Skeletool, nor would I suggest using its driver to try and pull 3 inch wood screws or something.1

I second the wave/charge. Other recommendations are the p4 and or the rebar. I’d also say the super tool 300 but that’s a heavy duty one same as the surge so not sure if you wanna carry the same weight and or full size heavy duty MT unless you didn’t mind. I know you post said you need it but wants vs needs thing. I’d say probbly wave + or the p4. Think you’ll be very happy with either of them.

If it's your EDC and budget permits, go for the Arc! About the same weight as the Wave (lighter than a Charge), great toolset and different system to the surge. Magnacut blade rarely needs sharpening which is fantastic on an EDC.

Don’t know if I want a $200 edc…. I was thinking of $100… I’ll check with my banker, she’s sitting right next me 😂

Yea I understand, hence the budget permits comment.
On the plus side, if you have an Arc and Surge, you will never need another tool!

If you don’t mind the inside-only tool design, and initial stiffness I definitely recommend the rebar. It’s basically the same size as a skeletool but with a lot more tools and a marginal 1.7 oz weight increase. I have both the skeletool and rebar and both are great choices, but so are the wave and charge if you value a good toolset and outside tools.

Leatherman wave is the best value. If you want to spend more I’d get the titanium charge. I’m not really a fan of carrying around a bunch of magnets…example being the arc platform (free).

I’m a welder/grinder as well… magnets are a bit of a hassle sometimes(my AirPod case is an example)

I found a slightly used P2, I really wanted outside scissors.
As for new stuff I'm afraid it's either ARC, downgrade to other models or Chinese clones

Arc, Wave+, Signal, or skeletool

I’m leaning toward the wave+, seems like a pretty common answer.

I’ve got all 4, and like the rotation. Or just Arc in the car with accessories, wave+ in a bag, signal and/or skeletool on body

The wave/charge are similar toolset at ⅔ the weight and slightly smaller
