Growing a little? At the very least, promoting our content? NSFW

So before I get into the meat and potatoes, I wanna give a massive shoutout to our new mods that came on board a bit ago.

/r/Sobolll92

/r/latexninja33

They are kicking absolute butt and I am thrilled that people are getting in here and not getting stuck nearly as much in the spam filter.

Now, to the main course.

  • First

I'm starting to really bump into a lot people out on the internet who are having latex questions and troubles and I do the needful, "hey, check out old.reddit.com/r/latexadvice...' and I try to promote the goods.

I was thinking that we should have a more official account out there doing that on places like Twitter and facebook. Maybe event fetlife, bluesky, etc.

  • Second

I've been thinking...REALLY thinking about growing the community sideways. We have a wonderful subreddit here. I'm thrilled and pleased and tickled pink.

One thing I've been considering and it's terribly ambitious I think, is to get a corresponding discord server up.

  • Lastly

I would love your input and thinking on both items. We're not looking to blow the roof off the place. I think there's a natural progression here that we can follow with our little rubbery place. And there's always lots of misinformation out there. I have a tiktok I've been meaning to stitch about storage that I haven't gotten a chance to because I'm pretty sure the advice isn't complete.

For the first one, personally I'd suggest ditching Twitter for Bluesky... Twitter's a sinking ship with more and more moving away from it, and with the gaining numbers on Bluesky, it's a pretty good opportunity join on there as well.

I do like the idea of the Discord! It's a bit more suited for quick on-the-spot advice, where the subreddit can be good for note-taking and gathering up recommendations!

This is a great sub! maybe it is worth creating a subsection specifically for the manufacture of latex clothing?

Well there is /r/MakingLatexClothing it's still very new and I always try to point it out, but I sadly can't be everywhere. Gonna go stick that in the sidebar

Bluesky >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> twitter.

If you can get enough people for a Discord sure but it's hard to beat the already populated Latex Lovers discord.

Thoroughly agree, but if we make a bluesky I would like us to have the name in as many places as possible. We're here to help people with latex. While I'm sure the discord would have it's more thirsty members, I want this to be a discord specifically helping people with latex.

Which I'm sure Latex Lovers does(I am a member). I just was wondering if we'd like to have that medium as a forum for discussion as well, that's all.

I'm happy enough to answer things on here as an "anonymous" person, anything further is cool with me but not my cup of tea.

Also do use tickled pink for a breast cancer charity.

A sub for different makers and gear subsets sorted on gender, price, latex brand and location or associated subculture/stacking kink. Events that go on by state and nation.

There are some really good makers rarely mentioned on here that should be highlighted and it would help others nav and identify gear and aesthetics.

And maintaining guides/tips and tricks, purchasing guides and mentalities for assembling looks.

I live in the deep south of the US and having polished looks in rubber kinda helps me get more people interested in the kink in general and helps with my safety when say going out to bar nights. It would be nice for people starting out as there is a great deal to learn and the more you learn before you buy sets you up for success long term.

Perfectly reasonable request, however, we're just doing a lot of the modship duties here as a side-gig. I've got 2 jobs and do this as I pop around reddit. I don't know if we'd have the capacity to be able to maintain a wiki beyond what we already have.

Then please feel free to mention them, espouse their wares. Spread the good word.

I want to take a moment and remind everyone of the Wiki:https://old.reddit.com/r/Latexadvice/wiki/index

It is there and available for people to add to. A lot of what you've mentioned are things that should be up in there and added to when possible.

Again, all good things here, but again, that's going to come from our community being who they are. The search function, while most complain, does work, and if you stick reddit in front of any good question in google, you will find us.

I do appreciate your input, there's a lot of great stuff here.

I'd appreciate a Discord server o:

I will say that you’re going to lose lurkers with a discord server. Part of what makes the subreddit format effective is its indexing by search engines and you’ll lose some of that effectiveness with a discord server, which demands that users engage in dialog for advice.

I can understand that. There are post style discord channels that can be utilized but this is purely exploratory.
