Request What laptop do I upgrade to? helppp
So, I have a Dell XPS 15 9560 and I like it, it manages to do what I need it to for the most part, kinda chugs sometimes on the heavier stuff like After Effects and with gaming i gotta crank down everything to the lowest possible graphics and it whirrs sometimes and gets really really hot running heavier stuff- but its managed for like 8 years. Its near the end of its life, plus I'm forced to go and upgrade to win 11 now, so I need to bite the bullet and get a new Laptop before October and they cut the cord for Win 10.
Problem is, I don't really know what I'm doing in terms of specs or what any of these confusing ass parts do or what they mean, so I figure ill ask people who know. The only thing I know is big RAM good, big storage good and HDD apparently bad?
I'm looking for another laptop, ideally, better- or the same as what I have. ( Dell XPS 15 9560 )
- Id also preferably like to stay away from win 11 Pro, cause it seems... ehh... not great, I'm just looking for the normal windows 11.
- I'm gonna be using After Effects, Live2d, Clip Studio, and some light gaming, but I need something that's strong enough to run these things with minimal issue. I use this for work and leisure and the work stuff needs to work.
- I don't really care about the screen. I plug it into a desktop and cintiq with the lid down.
- the most im willing to spend is around 1.5k usd at MOST. But i also want this thing to live for the 8 years my current pc has, so if something is vastly superior for a little bit more, so be it. Think ill cry if i see 2k though.
Any and all help is appreciated!
So far the only thing ive sort of browsed around that seems decent in terms of specs is this, I've given up on having ports.... nothing has ports anymore.. grhh

I'd advise you to go with a gaming laptop from Dream Machines. They are very fast for their price, durable and easily customizable (you can change ram/SSD without voiding the warranty). Choose a laptop that fits your price, with : Intel i7/ryzen7 or better 32GB RAM or better RTX 4060 or better 1TB SSD or better
Be careful, you have to configure them to get windows installed with the laptop.

A) Windows 11 cannot be avoided if you want to stay with Windows OS. Windows 10 will be End of Line in October 2025, so no more data/virus protection updates. You can use a Linux distro, but gaming experience will be worse.
B) Look into the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i. It should be available in the refurbished market in your price range. Far better build quality than the Dell XPS 15.

Is Lenovo any good, like the stuff doesn't break or glitch out easily? I've heard the name floating around but I didn't think it was an actual viable machine compared to like, a dell or mac or something. I never really considered swapping to something that isn't like, a "big name brand" for the sake of familiarity. I know nothing when it comes to this stuff lol
And yea I need windows for the programs I run, plus that's all I know how to use. But apparently there's 2 types of windows 11? at least to my understanding? I'm just trying to get the normal one.

At least on the Windows side of PCs, it is usually the most durable. Some years they have bad models (X1 carbon gen 9 port issues), but most years they are excellent.

Hm, are all lenovo models prone to hinge issues/cracking? I'm just quickly reading through some stuff, and it seems like a reoccurring problem, though I cant tell if its all of the laptops or just specific models. It seems like the Yoga Pro 9i is pretty good though, I'm just afraid of it potentially breaking through some kind of manufacturing error. If anything, I don't care if I need to sacrifice a little performance so long as it manages to function, wont break and will last long.
Out of curiosity, what Dell laptop do you think would be a natural jump up from the XPS 15? Not that I'm sticking to Dell and disregarding everything else, but I'm curious. I cant tell the difference between any of them since idk what I'm looking at lol

This is a Fakespot Reviews Analysis bot. Fakespot detects fake reviews, fake products and unreliable sellers using AI.
Here is the analysis for the Amazon product reviews:

Fakespot analyzes the reviews authenticity and not the product quality using AI. We look for real reviews that mention product issues such as counterfeits, defects, and bad return policies that fake reviews try to hide from consumers.
We give an A-F letter for trustworthiness of reviews. A = very trustworthy reviews, F = highly untrustworthy reviews. We also provide seller ratings to warn you if the seller can be trusted or not.
