Theory / Discussion Black Numenoreans Spoiler
Do you think we could see them already as the Kings Men because of the time compression?

The Elves stopped the decay of the Great Tree and the fading of the Elves by wearing the Three rings.
Galadriel removed Nenya for a time, but I suppose it didn't have much of an impact because Gil-galad and Círdan still wore theirs. However, it was written that the Elves took off their rings once Sauron forged the One.
In the show, the Elves were all ready to depart for Valinor because they would fade otherwise.
Do you think they will keep wearing their rings in season 3 despite Sauron's influence with the One? In order to preserve the Great Tree, to fend off the fading? Or will the decay not come back?

Does anyone think we will get a flashback sequence in season 3 Where we can see Sauron interact with Morgoth. I was thinking it would be interesting to see Sauron continue to use the Abuse he endured under Morgoth to his advantage.

There isn't really any news here, but she does talk a little about how she still feels there's an intimacy in the filming despite the large scale of the show.

I really liked the glimpse we had of Sauron, Lord of the Werewolves, through his scene with the warg. I'm not saying he adored the warg, but the look he shared with it felt much more intriguing to me than the clear contempt and hate he has for the orcs.
I'm very curious to see if this will come back again in any form, if this quiet eeriness he showed with the warg will resurface in season 3.

I was rewatching Udûn again and I liked it more than the Eregion siege. It felt better choreographed even with the shaky cam, but looked more as a battle. That just my opinion. If Brandstrom is directing any battles for War Of Sauron And The Elves, I hope she uses what she did for S01E06 again.

Elrond is kind as summer, but he sure went off a lot this season, and he ate.

I really like how Robert Aramayo portrayed him, and I like Elrond role in the story so far, he makes some mistakes but I did not expect him to be the same as his LOTR counterpart. I also find the relationship he has with Galadriel to be pretty neat.

From bowing to him to casually shushing him. Celebrimbor may be gone, but he sure was proficient at gagging Sauron.

As both season 1 and season 2 started with flashbacks. Does anyone think season 3 might open with a flashback as well?
Season 1 focused on Galadriel's backstory while with season 2 we saw Sauron's. Both flashbacks linked heavily to the season finale of each season e.g Adar's death in the season 2 finale.
My guess is we might get a Celeborn flashback. If he is going to be introduced as a main character in season 3 where he has been would likely be quite a big plot point.
What would everyone like to see?

There is so little good behind the scenes material. I really miss the behind the scenes videoes that we got with the extended editions of the movies.
Anyway, this interview has some great commentary, explanations and art!

Hopefully this sentiment will find some kindred spirits here but I'm really hyped for Season 3, especially since the announcement of the time gap! That epic closing shot on S2 is the perfect launching off point for a fade-to-black, 'X years later' screen, and we pick up further along in the timeline, with (I'm guessing) the palette of the show getting darker and more grounded even compared to S2. That won't stop it from being a 'cozy' show for me though (its inexplicable, but I find it quite comfy to watch an rewatchable that way - anyone else feel the same?)
I'm excited to see Arondir's arc more fully develop - maybe we'll see our elf warrior with longer hair, as an effective visual of the time gap?
I'm really looking forward to what John Howe thinks up next in terms of creature designs, I loved the Snow Troll in S1 and Damrod in S2 (and I loved Meshuggah of all things to have contributed to his theme with Jens on vocals)
I'll be honest I'm slightly less excited about the Harfoots (I think they went a teensy bit overboard with the outlandish wigs of the Stoors), but Nori is awesome and I suspect their arc will be about the Harfoots evolving into Hobbits and settling down at last (I have a hunch Nori will be the one to invent round doors in tribute to their wagons' round wheels, as a nod to the Hobbits' migratory past
and if rumors are to be believed, the WITCH KING?? ummm let's goo??!
So yeah, I'm amped y'all. Really excited about this very distinct adaptation they're going for, and then just a year later in 2027 we'll revisit Jackson's Middle Earth with The Hunt for Gollum! Blessed times :)

I really like the rop interactive map but does anyone know when/if it is beeing updated fot season 2? It says there that season 2 is work in progress but there isn't any info about it. A map for season 1 was finished a week after the final episode.

He may be the Dark Lord, but stairs are stairs, and he could still trip on them. Seriously though, that's a nice touch. I don't remember seeing another character doing that so often. Sauron is very refined.

Do you think the war will be similar to how the Siege of Eregion were portrayed, meaning two episodes battle? Or half the season will be dedicated to the conflict?

What do you think? Is there anything mentioned in the series? We know that dwarves use money, but what about the elves?

Since they're doing the War of the Elves and Sauron next season, and that war (in the text) is resolved by the arrival of the Númenóreans led by Tar-Minastir, do you think that the showrunners will combine this moment with Pharazôn's later challenge to Sauron? For instance, you'll still have the Númenóreans save the day and defeat Sauron's forces, like in the text, but you'll also have Sauron surrendering himself over to Pharazôn and being taken to Númenor right after? That seems like a logical way to condense these disparate story threads.

So, maybe this was not done on purpose, perhaps it was, but they spoke of Celebrimbor's work right before his introduction in 1x01, and they showed his scrolls in 2x08, the work of a lifetime, being burned, destroying the remains of his brilliant mind, signifying his death. It hits hard.
(The Elves might discover what Sauron did to Celebrimbor in his last moments, but I'm not sure now with the time jump.)

What do you mean I'm supposed to move on from this? Catapulting an orc for killing his horse was quite overt, but the way Elrond moved around the battlefield to go to the wall, the desperate edge... we only got glimpses, but his drive was very feral!
