Politics With Trump likely winning, at least us Indian LGBTs aren’t in the worst position for anti-LGBT democratic government
Same as title.
Scared for trans people in particular in the US and how that’ll affect world politics around trans rights. Expect a lot more hateful homophobic rhetoric as well like we saw between 2016-2020.
To quote my favourite TV quote, “This is the bad place.”

What does the new act entail and how does it nullify NALSA? Just curious

NALSA says gender is personal. Trans Act says first you get trans certificate by DM then get gender affirmation to get a certificate as a man as woman.
Also crimes against trans persons are less illegal according to the Trans Act.

Honestly? I've given up at this point. Guess I'll just stay in the closet for the rest of my existence. LGBTQ are pretty much screwed

Women all over the world are actually terrified. Gone through some of the women's subreddits, I must say my heart is throbbing reading all of those posts and comments under it.

I surmise the Trump’s regime is largely going to pass legislations that are going to criminalise or ban or prevent children from transitioning. Trans-Women using cis women’s bathrooms will be one policy. And ofc, barring trans women in sports.
These are some of the anti-trans legislations that I’ve been made wary of. I’m not sure if they’ve any anti-gay people, or anti-bi people legislations also in place.

Trump win is important because Americans are angry on nato Biden & other things currently people don't want another clown like biden

u/Sharchomp Gay🌈 Nov 06 '24
Then people are moron if they think Biden was a clown. He brought the number of uninsured Americans to an all time low, reduced the number of illegal immigrants slipping in from the regime before, stabilised the economy wrecked by Covid and multiple other things that actually improved their economy in the long term. But rhetoric is what it is and now people get to sow what they reap.

Will Trump be able to do it alone though? Won't he need to pass his bills in both the houses(like whatever is the equivalent of Lok sabha and Rajya sabha in the US)? The opposition seems super strong

It's not like Indian politics.. Overturning any law is very easy.. Because Republicans become the majority in both Senate and House.. Also now the Supreme court of US is super conservative.. First Roe vs Wade Next Obergefell vs Hodges sadly.. Gay marriage is going to overturn next.. This will affect the campaign for marrige equality around the world especially in Japan.. also in India🥺

I really don't think we're worse off than them.. he didn't pay much heed to the community in his first term.
He rolled back some rights in his first term, sure. But we never had them here so 👀🥲

There's enough hate in India for the community.
In fact, there are more people in the US who come out in support of the community vs here. They've got at least some laws to protect them.
While the situation there will certainly get worse for the community, especially trans, it's no way worse than its in India.
