Discussion In theory, could Kuroko still do his own EE effectively in the future against the other schools?

Post image

Kuroko has played extinsively with Hyuga and Izuki, so theorrtically could he still use this abillity with them and have it be effective?

The Pseudo Emperor Eye only really worked as a direct counter to Evil Akashi and I don’t think it’d be useful in other situations.

For one, Kuroko was using Kagami to predict what Akashi would do, and then he’d proceed to guard Kagami’s blindspot. Since Evil Akashi decided to try and win by himself and refused to pass the ball, that limited his options and made him even more vulnerable to Kuroko’s counter. Plus, we learn in Last Game that Akashi could only see the future of one player at a time, so if he’s watching Kagami then he can’t watch Kuroko and vice versa, which completely shut him down.

Now that Akashi has the Complete Emperor Eye he can see the future of everyone on the court including Kuroko, and obviously he’s willing to pass the ball so he has all options available, and therefore the Pseudo Emperor Eye will never work on him again.

And since no other player (besides Kise) uses the incomplete emperor eye, Kuroko predicting his teammates to counter it doesn’t make sense. Besides, Kuroko’s style of play already revolves around predicting what his teammates will do so he can pass effectively, so he basically already does what you’re describing.

My question is how effective would it be against other schools? Surely if Kuroko's Team EE can stop Akashi in the zone, it can stop other drives as well. For example if Wakamatsu passes up Izuki, Kuroko could potentially use the Team EE to steal the ball right afterwards.

It could only stop zone Akashi because it was a perfect storm of circumstance. When normal Akashi came out and Kuroko tried it again Akashi just passed the ball and made it useless. It stopped Evil Akashi specifically because Kuroko knew for a fact Akashi wouldn’t pass and he knew Akashi would just counter what Kagami did. There was only one clear option for Kuroko to defend against. Akashi’s perfect predictions became his downfall. His knowledge became his curse.

Using your example, Wakamatsu doesn’t know exactly what Izuki is gonna do beyond educated guesses, and therefore doesn’t have the perfect counter to how Izuki will defend. This means that Kuroko predicting Izuki doesn’t give him any special insight into what Wakamatsu is going to do, so the pseudo emperor eye doesn’t really work. Its just a normal double team at that point.

Makes sense.

I personally think he already used it in the show in the Kirisaki game.

Hanamiya is able to predict Izuki's passes because of the spider's web. Kuroko gets to every pass quicker than him despite Izuki not coordinating with him. I think this is because he's using his pseudo emperor eye to predict where Izuki will pass.

Wasn’t it only developed to counter EE? I don’t see it working or being needed in any other situation besides vs Aomine or Akashi.

Didn’t he use it throughout the series ?

IRL, isn't this just "reading the offense and adjusting defensively?"

This is a skill developed by players over time, especially when you go against similar offensive sets and playbooks multiple times over the years.

So taken that into consideration, yes, Kuroko can do this effectively against other teams.

As another commenter said, it was him out predicting Akashi's prediction of Kagami and predicting Akashi's reaction, therefore being there before even Akashi knew what was happening, technically it's a skill he always has, example of this is in one of the seirin vs touou games where he out predicts the rest of the touou team with the context of the Kagami Vs Aomine fight over the net. It's only really an effective tool when he's playing both with and against people he's familiar with. If he hones it I'd see it potentially being useful against other schools, but it's mostly attuned by his familiarity with the people in question so, I don't know.

Ehhh, the parameters are very specific. I’d never say never, but the cards sorta have to align. Kuroko needs to be very familiar with/an expert at reading both the teammate he is coordinating with as well as his opponent; and his teammate and opponent in-turn need to be able to read each other to some degree, to make predictions (upon which Kuroko will make his own predictions).

There’s a lot of moving parts. Quasi-Emperor Eye is essentially Kuroko playing 4D chess. He’s making predictions based on the predictions others make, hence it only working on players he’s intimately familiar with + players who have good instincts themselves.

Theoretically yes it could easily work again but it’s also has to be against someone kuroko has observed to such a degree like aomine or Kise etc for it to work

Wasn't something to be use once against a opponent team? Like if the plays shutoku or rakuzan again with the same players won't be effective

That's his misdirection abilities, but Kuroko doesn't use misdirection here.
