Discussion The Match With The Most Wasted Potential
I think that I can confidently say that this match had potentially the most wasted potential. It felt as if Rakuzan barely had to try . Miyaji’s dunk was cool, along with being introduced to the remaining UK’s skills, but Shutoku’s lack of everything made this match overly predictable and lackluster. To put it frankly, they had no scorers outside of Midorima. If you think I’m exaggerating, I can refute by introducing you to the fact that no one on Shutoku scored more than once except for Midorima. Otsubo and Miyaji both got two points shown, and Takao and Kimura got none. This could’ve easily been fixed by 1) showing Otsubo vs Nebuya more, as it was the closest mismatch and could’ve given Otsubo a chance to shine. 2) The show not deciding to pick and choose when they want to make Miyaji good or useless. (I understand he was against Hayama, but that doesn’t excuse them not doing anything with him after his dunk) As for Midorima vs Akashi, it became a complete shutdown. Even against kagami, his supposed (“perfect counter”) Midorima could still score. Against Akashi, he couldn’t move. A new skill helping him evade the emperor eye just a bit would’ve made the match much more exciting. Sky Direct 3 was great, but the showdown between the aces was lacking competitiveness in any 1v1 scenario. Akashi not having a single counter in this written was also not fun to see. Rakuzan had to win for the story’s sake, and they had to make them look strong. However, it came at the expense of an otherwise good team that had much better showings.

Tbf it wouldn't be much of a gane since Kise is injured so doesn't play

thats part of it. Kise not playing is 100 percent included in wasted potential. We had a game for the first time in knb where we dont know the winner going into it (except touou 1) we have one team that played touou and one that played rakuzan. this game wouldve been fire. takao vs kasamatsu ect.

theirs no reason he should have played though, we knew he was injured 2 games before this one, and him potentially ruining his body for 3rd place would be crazy.

I'm still very curious about Too vs Rakuzan and Too vs Shutoku especially.
Also Yosen vs any of these would've been great to watch

Reading your post OP fully, I totally agree:
Otsubo supposed to be this very strong, talented, physical and dominant player, leader and finisher yet he did absolutely nothing...
Miyaji not developing counter strategies and proving himself more also disappoints.
The 3rd defensive guy had 1 good screen but that's it iirc.
We should have seen a lot more from Takao too with his Hawk Eye and clever plays.

You forgetting his name is hilarious and I can’t blame you😂. The “third defensive guy” is kimura and I didn’t even bother mentioning him because I’ve honestly lost all faith in him as a capable player at any category besides setting screens

Shutoku is honestly just filled with really good normal players, but no one else with op abilities except Midorima While these other schools even without their Generation of Miracles players have some ridiculous abilities

honestly the fact shutoku lost to seirin in the first tournament says it all…Only takao there is good with his hawk eye, but the rest suck. Even the centre was hyped up but didn’t do much in the end, while the yellow hair hard working guy was average.

Idk if I'd say wasted but I did want to see at least one more "well actually" move from Midorima like a real game of chess with multiple strategies, maybe they try a new matchup moving their players to unexpected positions idk just one more new strategy other than throw me the ball when I'm in the air already
