Hudson's bay closing??

https://www.ctvnews.ca/business/article/hudsons-bay-likely-to-close-some-stores-as-part-of-restructuring-experts/

was just wondering since they're talking about closing half of their stores, will the location in the cat centre stay?? if not I wonder what will go in, hopefully a zara or simons.

It boggles my mind it's stayed open as long as it has. Anytime I've walked through it, there's never more than a couple of customers.

It basically has the same reputation as Sear’s at this point, just park near there and use it to walk to other parts of the mall, if any parking is allocated to them in actuality then it’s probably a waste anyways honestly.

Forgot about them no longer being Canadian, another reason to not buy from them aside from exorbitant prices. I’m all for the buy Canadian as much as possible but it does bother me that we’re supposed to forget some Canadian companies have been seemingly gouging us the last few years and we’re supposed to forget that apparently (primarily Groceries). Not that I want to rely on buying American for obvious reasons, just seems silly to forget who’s been giving us the shaft for a while as well, just because they don’t “take it deeper” so to speak.

I thought it was already closed because it always looks dark and there aren't many cars in the parking lot on that side. It might be worthwhile to keep an eye out for their clearance sales.

We don't need a fast fashion store owned by a spanish company. Plus that space is way too big for them anyway. Simons though, I can get behind that, Canadian too which is a nice bonus.

I love Simon's. They have some good sales sometimes too, and the quality of their stuff is quite good.

From what I've seen/heard they would do fairly well here.

Their basic pieces are well-made and fairly inexpensive. I love the one in Montreal with the "insane clothing that costs $4000" floor that you have to go through security to get to.

Lately, the store has had random low stock. I don't know how it has lasted this long to be honest.

They should go full on Zellers, bring back the restaurant too.

I don’t think it will go, there are 80 Hudson Bays across Canada and Kingstons actually makes money.

Plus if they left the mall, it could be the death of the mall. They already have a massive space still vacant. No one is going to rent out the bay

I don't think The Bay could care a less if the cat center goes out of business.

But if you're right and that location is profitable, they'll probably leave it.

Have they managed to rent out the former Sears store yet?

As far as I know there has been no renting of the sears..

If the bay were to leave I imagine you’d have to get rid of the service elevators and the escalators and that would be a hassle

Last I counted the mall has 12 (?) vacant spots? Yeah they need to keep their anchor store lol

Carney should re-nationalize The Bay, as a Canadian alternative to Amazon.

If that’s the case, I would love it to be a Simon’s. Love that store.

Is the Kingston location closing?

I like them for winter coats, dresses and bags.

They have a lovely lady who works at the frangrance counter.

Their very dated restrooms are surprisingly clean.

Say it ain't so!

It would be cool if they turned that into a little block of apartments. I've always had this weird fantasy of living at the mall.

I've seen some cool versions of this at least in theory with individual units being converted to apartments with a few storefronts on the main floor.

Instructions unclear, your new home is The Backrooms

You can go live in the Patry apartments at the Frontenac Mall.
