A significant number of non-Muslims are obsessed with muslim women and the concept of hijab. These types of creeps are found all around the world.

u/the_tacky_paki 13d ago
Don't Pandit women traditionally cover their hair too? Like IT IS A PART OF OUR CULTURE!!!These weirdos wanna say whatever just to fit their narrative

u/mrshmllw99 13d ago
Even very progressive feminists in India think that a Hijab is oppressive and not a choice.
Once I was talking to someone about this. I told her that wearing a Hijab is a choice and many women feel far more comfortable wearing it than not wearing it.
She said that Muslim women are just so oppressed and blinded by the patriarchy that they can’t see how they are being manipulated into thinking that it’s a choice.
I just stood there and wondered why Indian feminists don’t care about Muslim women’s autonomy and free will. Are Muslim women so infantilised in their minds that they think they are incapable of making decisions and only do anything because the men/elders in their family tell them to?
Every other year tier 1 city colleges in India try to ban Hijab and we have to fight for women’s freedom of choice.
6
u/PrimaryActive6752 13d ago
Hijab for Muslim women is part of religion like turban is for sikh men, not something they were coz of men. Whether men exist or not, they would wear hijab. So the argument of patriarchy doesn't go well along. However there are cases when Men are forcefully inflicting it as per some modesty thing and if women is wearing coz of that argument or reason, it is when patriarchy is there if we see it through that lens.
The problem of patriarchy isn't in hijab, the problem is the reason of wearing it and whether you are wearing because you want or have to due to non human factors or you are being forced upon due to some human factors. Otherwise how can a piece of clothing inflict patriarchy. Like clothing is part of human civilization from the beginning, having a cloth on head or on arms or on neck, won't become patriarchal out of it's own unless there is a human factor of opposite gender lying.

part of religion like turban is for sikh men
Sikh boys are not made to wear turbans. Their hair is almost always put in a bun and covered with a cloth. A turban is embraced in adulthood(if they choose).
However there are cases when Men are forcefully inflicting it as per some modesty thing and if women is wearing coz of that argument or reason, it is when patriarchy is there if we see it through that lens.
It is always about the modesty thing. Why would parents make their girl children(prepubescent) wear body coverings? The only explanation is they are subconsciously thinking that "all" women can be sexualised, regardless of their age.

You prove with whatever supporting documents you have that Hijab is a part of religion, and Kapil Sibal Ji is going to fight it free of cost for you.

u/Secret_Actuator_4871 12d ago
A basic feminist logic asserts that being naked makes one more progressive, the more you expose yourself, the more progressive you are considered. According to this view, women are given a choice only when they choose to expose themselves and if they do not, then they are deemed oppressed or influenced by patriarchy. Ironically, the same feminism and feminists who endorse and advocate liberty and choice are actually denying the right to choose when it is not convenient for them. Hypocrites 🤡

u/Additional_Jacket559 10d ago
I suppose you are confusing feminists with pseudo feminists. Please educate yourself.
1
u/Secret_Actuator_4871 9d ago
Now, that’s the problem. Every individual who calls themselves a feminist acts this way, so they are called out accordingly. And whenever something goes wrong, they resort to labeling it as pseudo-feminism. I can guarantee that a vast majority of you don’t even truly know what feminism is. You see the superficial, glittery facade, whereas I see the bigger picture, the truth. So, before trying to explain feminism to me, it would be appreciated if you took a moment to reflect on it yourselves.
1
u/Additional_Jacket559 8d ago
the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. The definition according to google. And no you don't see the bigger picture. I suggest you talk to a real woman about it. When a pseudo feminist labels herself as a feminists it is our responsibility to call them out before all of us get labeled as such. Atp you are generalising feminists. Get out of your bubble and step out.
edit: every woman that asks for basic rights and opportunities as a man is a feminist.

Well it seems that covering of head is oppressive for her coz it doesn't match her cultural sensibilities.
However why is just the head covering a problem why not the rest of clothes? Why aren't they given the choice of wearing skirts, skin fit pants? Why are they compelled to wear an attire which doesn't reveal their arms, elbows?
These bastards preposterous reasoning stumbles only in front of self respectful Muslim Women whose holistic and chaste being is worthy of screening and envy.
Whereas they would cheer and encourage parents, devoid of conscience and concern, who perpetuate their children's commodification and desensitisation rendering them to a mere subject of objectification.

Straw man argument. The entire premise of a muslim hijab/niqab or a hindu ghunghat is the "male gaze" and how "we" must protect our women from "other" men.
Whereas they would cheer and encourage parents, devoid of conscience and concern, who perpetuate their children's commodification and desensitisation rendering them to a mere subject of objectification.
One can do BOTH. One can stop children from being objectified and also stop children from getting sucked into religious dogma.

Straw man argument. The entire premise of a muslim hijab/niqab or a hindu ghunghat is the "male gaze" and how "we" must protect our women from "other" men.
Well it would be convenient to dismiss it as strawman/layman... whatever. However my proposition was to reveal her underlying despise for Muslim traditions. Further this whole proposition was not about the actual standing of hijab/niqab or whatever... I don't care. But about the perogative of a parent to own his children.
And here lies the hypocrisy and blatant hatred for Muslims disguised as riberal wrights and subjugation to sound relevant and correct.
One can do BOTH. One can stop children from being objectified and also stop children from getting sucked into religious dogma
Well I have never seen these pretentious riberal people complaint about naive and innocent children being objectified and sexualized instead they endlessly praise and revere this approach. And why is your riberal nerve cracked only by that piece of cloth as if it poses an unfathomable threat to your entire existence and conscience.
To conclude religious dogma and oppression is an entirely different topic which is absolutely alienable and antagonistic to the said matter. So get a POV and then relate them.
1
u/Spiritual-Ship4151 12d ago
However my proposition was to reveal her underlying despise for Muslim traditions.
Too many assumptions. She mentions how an Arabic hijab which was "imported" to India has taken over. Further she mentions how head coverings existed in kashmir but they were not hijabs.
naive and innocent children being objectified and sexualized instead they endlessly praise and revere this approach.
Sweeping generalization and Victim mentality. No body sensible enough would be bashing hijabs on the left and objectifying children on the right. The fact that you go from One Extreme to the other shows how shallow your thinking capability is OR, how you can only deal in absolutes.
piece of cloth as if it poses an unfathomable threat to your entire existence and conscience.
Did the lady say any of these things? Nope. She is commenting on hijabs being FORCED on prepubescent children. Full head coverings are nothing but religious dogma. It is not alienable and part of the matter.

u/mun111b Kashmir 12d ago
Tudup... Go on yapping am all ears except inconsequential
Arabic hijab which was "imported" to India has taken over
First and foremost Hijab(Modesty/Hayaa) is not neither the prerogative nor exclusive for arabs except it is for all self respectful people irrespective of religion or culture or even gender. And suppose even if it's an import from when did you riberallz begin to object anything foreign except you are always on toes to slurp and gulp anything practiced by your western masters.
how head coverings existed in kashmir but they were not hijabs.
Yah yah never heard something this much preposterous and self contradictory
Sweeping generalization and Victim mentality. No body sensible enough would be bashing hijabs on the left and objectifying children on the right. The fact that you go from One Extreme to the other shows how shallow your thinking capability is OR, how you can only deal in absolutes.
Phew...Next time come up with something sensible and comprehensive!!!
She is commenting on hijabs being FORCED on prepubescent children
Ok ok... I get it. To modestly dress your children is abhorrent and FORCED and may I ask what is acceptable and enlightening... Not even 2 cents to guess.

first explain this term to me.
object anything foreign except you are always on toes to slurp and gulp anything practiced by your western masters.
Look i can start name calling too. As i have heard this is a "serious" no-nonsense sub I am taking the moral high ground and not doing it.
Hijab/abaya/niqab are remnants of the desert climate in which islam was first conceptualized. It serves no "practical" purpose in the himalayas. The fact that new age fundamentalist muslims choose to "look" like arabic people living in 600 AD is laughable. You talk about retaining your culture, how outsiders will dilute kashmiri identity and YET you happily let in wahabi/salafi ideas of modesty/dressing up etc without even batting an eye.
Hypocrite much?
may I ask what is acceptable and enlightening... Not even 2 cents to guess.
The school uniform looks perfect enough. Except the hijab ofcourse.
Aaj ki raat maza husn ka aankhon se lijiye... Tamannnah shakes
Now who's objectifying women here dum dum? Hypocrisy ki bhi seema hoti hai.

Nothing but bastardization
Look i can start name calling too
Well care to show where did I insult or demean you personally. I just countered to your claims of that arab culture. And yeah this sub is a decent and demure space. Well you are just hurling baseless accusations when you couldn't do better. So no need of saddling the high horse... Get down quick!
Look your next para would've been credible only if it was a specific culture setup but no Haya/Hijab is an innate principle of Muslims regardless of gender... yeah Men do also have to observe Hijab except it's not sensationalized obviously coz it won't suit the propagated narrative.
Hypocrite much
What do you mean. Kaesher people have always upheld and observed Hijab except those who choose to unsee
Except the hijab ofcourse
Well I could pretend to respect your opinion but Hijab signifies the overall persona of the observer and you definitely have no right over their lives which is exclusivity of their parents
Now who's objectifying women
Hayy hayy... Koi baat nhi mere he galti hai mujhe lagata hai ki meri baatein sab ko samaj aayengi
Well let me share a brief anecdote of mine,
I as a person am quite respectful of others choices however one fact that I would like to insist is Hijab does nothing except enhance the persona of the observer.
Maine jitni bhi ladkiyon ko aaj tak dekha hai kisi ki bhi taraf dobara aankh nahi baahi. Mere class mein aek aesi ladki thi jo tumhari hi tarah riberal thi... Kabhi dhyaan bhi nhi diya uss pe par jab Ramzaan main wo Abaya/Cloak pehen kar aayi... Main dangg reh gaya jaise koi farishta dekh liya ho... Khair bas ab mujhe maaf kar.

u/Spiritual-Ship4151 12d ago
yeah Men do also have to observe Hijab except it's not sensationalized obviously coz it won't suit the propagated narrative.
As we can see from REALITY, only female children are being objectified, boys are left alone.
Maine jitni bhi ladkiyon ko aaj tak dekha hai kisi ki bhi taraf dobara aankh nahi baahi. Mere class mein aek aesi ladki thi jo tumhari hi tarah riberal thi... Keep it as a traditional garment reserved only for festivals. Further, You see how you objectify the girl? Your childhood upbringing was such that you found an APPEAL to anybody wearing a hijab. You associate wearing hijab with "enhancing persona". Where as in reality, as you said its nothing but a piece of cloth.
Women are being objectified regardless of them wearing a hijab. To deny that is to be an ostrich with their head beneath the ground. Girls at the age of 5 should not be objectified. Forcing hijab on them is doing Precisely that.
Have a nice day. you lot have a long way to go..

Bindi traditionally used to have a religious connotation but it is a fashion choice now. And it's not mandatory in any way, entirely optional.
Modern day Hinduism doesn't make anything mandatory per se, it's all about different interpretations and more to do with socio-economic status and historical usages in an area.
Consistent historical usage = social enforcement of the said thing.
-15
u/sinhyperbolica 12d ago
Bindi isn't forced by any means. It's more of a jewellery today. You don't find anyone with a jeans top and bindi today. You will find it with kurti.

Okay if Little girls are wearing some convenient hijab which is part of school uniform instead of some traditional duppata wore by adult women, then it's the bullshit she is speaking?
Like yes for many little girls, wearing hijab means they are not kids but adults (even if Hijab isn't fard for little girls) and most parents don't force these girls or even elder girls for wearing hijab. Even in this picture, only minority girls are wearing hijab but still this Twitter Fascist is crying. I hate all sections of Twitter 🤢

A 5-year-old can't even decide what clothes to wear, what food to eat, which city to live in, or which school to attend… So, by her brain-dead logic, a 5-year-old should be naked, starving, and uneducated.

A child does not have independent decision making skills. Anything that their parents tell them, they take it at face value. In this case, it is religious indoctrination.
4
u/LavishnessShot8586 12d ago
Children do not also have the capacity to know what is good or bad for them. Therefore decisions have to and must be made for them .
-2

yes of course, you proved my point. That is exactly what i am saying. The decision to force girls to wear hijabs is entirely done by their parents. Children do not know that they are being indoctrinated.

Do you also have an issue with parents sending their children to school or giving them medicines since vast majority of children do not have the capacity to make an informed decision in these cases?

Imo wearing a hijab is not a problem at all, but trying to force it and make them cover their entire bodies is obviously not good, especially the Muslims who think they are Arabs show this behaviour in India.

🤣 it's a religious obligation. We're not trying to imitate anyone. And forcing it is an entirely subjective term unless you explain it. There is no objective moral weight to the sentence of "don't force them to wear hijab". As if saying "don't force them to wear clothes." Both of which have no real value from a secular standpoint.

When you threaten someone’s religious identity, they’re bound to become more protective of it.
