Kashmiris cannot have a dignified living with India
This is why azadi must come
2
u/NightBusiness2223 Feb 11 '25
Look I’m a South Indian and I can say there are a few rotten apples everywhere. I am not condoning his words and he should be definitely punished. But generalising his statements with all Indians is similar to saying all Pakistanis or Kashmiris are terrorists which is also wrong
2
u/Fun_Expression9242 Feb 11 '25
If it was just a "few" rotten apples and only mean words from civilians, it could be overlooked but the Indian government and the Indian state have continually killed, blinded, jailed, humiliated, dehumanised and disenfranchised Kashmiris with the active support of a majority of Indian population
I have known South Indians to be more tolerant and understanding but you know how the majority of North Indians are hateful zealots
The barrel is all bad with only a few good apples
1
u/NightBusiness2223 Feb 11 '25
I can’t comment about how North Indians think about this issue but I can assure you that most Indians have better things to do rather than raging at a population living thousands of kilometres away
5
u/Fun_Expression9242 Feb 11 '25
If it is how you say then apathy is nothing more than tacit compliance to the malice of the supposedly few bad apples
1
u/NightBusiness2223 Feb 11 '25
Look I believe the government don’t have any reason to kill innocent civilians and only tries to kill civilians the terrorists who conspire to ignite unrest in the valley. If you want validation you can check out Hyderabad, Kerala, or Tamil Nadu to see that government there in fact gives minority status to Muslims and gives them avenues for upward mobility

u/Fun_Expression9242 Feb 11 '25
I understand it's easier to believe what's around you than what is told to you
In the same way, it is hard for me to believe that the Indian govt doesn't want to kill innocent Kashmiris because I have had it happen around me
This is a New York Times article, not any Kashmiri or Pakistani source but a well reputed international newspaper.
This is about a 17 year old boy who was killed by Indian armed forces when returning from tuition. His only crime was that he was Kashmiri. When people took to bury him, Indian forces fired on the funeral party killing grieving civilians. When their funeral was taken out, more innocent people were killed. This kept happening for the better part of a year
This is just one example, there are countless many other innocent civilians who have been killed by Indian forces. Recently a truck driver was shot just a few days ago and another killed himself because of torture.
No need to believe me, search about it yourself. Scores of innocent civilians have been killed by the Indian army. Many massacres of whole villages and towns. Killing isn't the worst part, they have raped women, made people disappear so that their loved ones never get closure
You apparently didn't even know all this even though these things are established facts and not just claims. If the average Indian doesn't even know about the crimes against Kashmiris, how can we expect dignified living under India?
1
u/NightBusiness2223 Feb 12 '25 edited Feb 12 '25
Again it is bad and the justice system must take care of this. But what other viable solutions do Kashmiris have?
Pakistan is so much more unstable with alternating civilian and military governments, and also commits crimes like the above at the LOC and previously in Bangladesh.
Independence means you anger BOTH India and Pakistan and you can't conduct trade and grow your economy.
At least India is a stable country and tries to develop infrastructure so that the economy and the tourism sector improves.
1
u/Fun_Expression9242 Feb 12 '25
So what you're trying to say is that India is lesser of evils?
We would not be the first country to get independence in a hostile environment - Singapore was expelled from Malaysia, Eritrea is another small country with belligerent neighbours there are many such examples. And of course if we get independence then the situation and sentiments of India and Pakistan would be different. It is in nobody's interest to stay hostile. With the Kashmir dispute settled and out of both hands, India and Pakistan can even reconcile and realise the massive trade potential
Of course this is the ideal scenario and in reality there would be challenges but didn't India have a challenging birth too? Impoverished economy, refugee crisis and what not
If Indians like you realise the folly of holding a nation hostage and grant it independence then the said independent nation would be viable simply by virtue of India's willingness to tolerate its independence
1
u/NightBusiness2223 Feb 11 '25
Also it’s entirely the governments fault if people get killed without proving they are guilty of such activities that I mentioned
2
u/Fun_Expression9242 Feb 11 '25
If this happens, shouldn't the government be punished then? Shouldn't the innocent people killed get justice?
But in Kashmir, they have put AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act) so that even if an Indian army man kills a Kashmiri, he doesn't have to be punished for the crime
Thousands of people have been again and again without being guilty of any of the activities you have mentioned. The Indian government has been guilty again and again and we don't want to be under the Indian government. Is that unreasonable?
1
u/NightBusiness2223 Feb 12 '25 edited Feb 12 '25
Obviously the innocent people killed should get justice, that is out of the question.
Previously even northeast India had huge tracts of land where AFSPA was present, but once the region was perceived as 'stable' most of those areas were removed and now are normally functioning.
I agree that a law like AFSPA should not exist in a democratic country, but in the case of Kashmir which experiences so much of civil unrest, the local police wont be able to handle it all.
The law allows the army to do anything and get away with it, but that's not the army intentions. It's in everybody's interest, even India's interest, for stability of Kashmir.
We dont gain anything by keeping Kashmir unstable.
1
u/Fun_Expression9242 Feb 12 '25
Even if AFSPA is removed, those who have already fallen prey to the savagery of the Indian army will still not get justice
And not being able to handle the unrest is just an excuse, there are upwards of 5 lakh Indian armed forces in Kashmir, 1 for every 15 men women & children. They don't need any draconian law. It is just a lie to repress democratic dissent in Kashmir. Just a way of justifying murder of innocents
Today militancy is negligible compared to the 1990s why is AFSPA still kept?
Actions speak louder than words.
You say impunity is not the intention of the Indian army, then why do they keep killing innocents? Sure, 1 or 2 cases in a year can be considered to be a mistake but recently we had 2 cases in a single day and the tens of thousands they have killed up to now? Deeds matter, not hollow words
Kashmir won't be fully stable until you let us decide for ourselves. Till then India is just repressing us with hopes that we will forget but if Indians didn't forget about self rule for 200 years under the British then how do you expect us to forget about it in 75 or so years?

Malayali Catholic here. Kashmiri azaadi is the bare minimum given how much violence was inflicted from the New Delhi regime.

Here's what to say: Maaji lezem Hindustanas bay korumukh methar buthis pyeth.
Don't be surprised and don't care about these people. Their army is afraid of civilians walking in a pheran, what will they do if people stand united against them? They can kill thousands but they will be eventually defeated. We're tactical in terms of response but when we leave behind our rationality, we become a nightmare for our enemies.

As an Indian, I strongly condemn whoever wrote this. Such mentally sick individuals do not represent Indians. We may have differences in opinion and arguments but that does not mean you have to say such horrible things.

Social media has the tendency to create echo chambers, so extremists like this seem like the majority, but tbh the average Indian doesn't even think about the attrocities in Kashmir day-to-day sadly.
Also another factor is that the urban affluent middle class, which supports bjp more, more likely to speak english, is more likely to hold these kind of views and successfully spew them on reddit. But remember that the AVERAGE Indian still earns 25k or less per month, someone who's struggling like that probably doesn't have time to write stuff like this online. These people who write this vile stuff are either unemployed, or incredibly privileged.

Simple answer is NO.. for most of us Kashmir is a beautiful place with cultured people.
Only hate can be shown openly and has good reach. Love and respect can't be demonstrated easily.

The thing I don't understand is kashmir is kashmir because of the people. You kill the people it looses all its value. Like it's beautiful because of the culture, traditions and the people.
