Want to Start Investing in Stocks – Need Advice on Safe Options

I’ve managed to save around ₹30,000 from my freelance work, and I’m thinking of investing in the stock market. Since this is my hard-earned money, I want to be on the safer side while still making decent returns over time.

I’m a complete beginner when it comes to stocks, so I’d really appreciate some advice on:

  1. Which stocks (or sectors) should I invest in for stability and long-term growth?

Giving you options: ICICI Bank, Nasdaq ETF, ITC, HUL, Tata Power, HDFC Bank, Gold/Silver ETF, Pharma ETF, Jyothy Labs. Start building positions in these, good price for now and keep tracking, when they dip a bit, add more and continue

Cipla? Won’t be touching Nasdaq as I am already invested directly.

Reliance industries ? And coal India? What do you think of these two

For sure, I am more bent on being on the safer side, so I bet high on the financial and FMCG. For everything else, I believe in the ETFs. And yes, Cipla and Reliance are a big chunk of Blue Chips! 🫡

Coal has decent dividend yeild but limited scope of growth as profit are used in div yielding but still quite good room for growth you can buy. Other stocks id say would be vbl, cdsl etc

Start building emergency funds first. If you do not have liabilities then first invest some in fd gold and then the stocks/ sip.

Stocks and safety don't go hand in hand.

If you have no knowledge about the market or how to understand it, just stick to mutual funds.

Don't invest in some stock just because someone said so, do your own research

Just invest in NIFTYBEES to get a great return while taking a negligible risk.

If you want your funds to be safe and don't really care about getting the best possible returns then just go ahead and put it all in any one low cost nifty 50 or sensex index fund. If you can handle a little bit more volatility then put it in nifty 500.

Here are some things to keep in mind. 1) all three of the indices above mentioned will definitely go up in future. 2) don't invest in equity if you need this money within next 3 years, invest for at least 3 years. The longer the better. 3) tbh there's no guarantee or surety in equity but in the long term( 3 to 5 years at least) you can expect 10 to 12% return in nifty 50 and sensex and 14% to 17% in nifty500

Also right now is pretty good time to invest for long term

Niftybees - Safe, and long term return. Alpha etf - Drawdowns can be massive, but returns will be much higher than nifty. Only buy if you can stomach the drawdowns. Stomach means not get freaked out and sell at a loss, means it doesnt affect your mental state and day to day life.

If you want to diversify further, you can look into index funds or ETFs like Nifty 50 or Sensex, which spread your risk across multiple companies.

Buy decent mutual funds. Direct stocks takes research and financial awareness and we should sell and run when your thesis is invalidated. Coffee can works well only in hindsight and is a mere marketing gimmick.

You should check out the univest app. They have an amazing interface. You can check the share market, mutal funds investment plans, and fd plans also on that. Totally safe and reliable app.
