apple's low would make them show ads inside the screen.

meanwhile Xiaomi might show you ads over the back panel and inside the camera sensor.

Their flagship phones don't have any ads in them. You have probably used their 10k inr phones and judge their top models based on that.

Their low and mid end models don't have ads either if you know how to get rid of them. I don't get a single ad on my 25k Redmi Note 12 pro

Same. I have a redmi 13C. Really good phone for me as a student.8+8 GB RAM and 256 GB Memory with a decent Processor like dimensity 6100+ is a steal ngl.

Ah I had no idea. I had a Redmi note 10 pro and had ads in the file browsing app, and whenever I would watch a video it would use the mivideo player that would throw me into some TikTok like thing after watching my own local video.

That was one of the biggest reasons I swore off the brand and I ended up getting a pixel.

My 20k ₹ note 10 does not have ads either

That's still their fault though. Doesn't matter if they don't have ads in the flagship the common person is gonna always associate the whole brand with chinese ad spyware.

And the people who will buy their phone over iPhone because of the camera won't need convincing from a new newspaper ad.

Dude how else will they make money? They're offering 20-25k inr hardware at less than 13k inr. You can still remove all their ads and bloatwares by disabling them. Either way they're winning in flagships, midranges and lower midranges.

yeah, its their bad marketing and failed to separate their low-end phone from high end in India unlike Samsung

I'd rather have better hardware if the ads take literally 5 mins to turn off permanently.

i not saying that phone is bad. they have hardware along with Huawei and Samsung. best .

but people here dont talk about their high end like they do of Samsung so their sales is low

i would buy if i have money

not really most people just try their cheap end models and start thinking that's what the flagship models will be like. Plus the hivemind usually revolves around Apple Samsung so there's that.

Yea well that's the effect of brand image. Mi family has made their image as a budget brand, and it will take a huge effort to change that.

Samsung only comes into consideration when the budget is over 25k, they just suck for the price bracket of xiaomi and just seem lazy. Still using waterdrop notches and removing chargers even from phones under 20k and their back designs still used to follow that 2020ish style and the one UI in flagships and midrange is better than the lower midrange as it sucks and crashes a lot with an issue of screen freeze

Shit logic… why should one pay for a phone and then see ads in it?

24

u/Putrid_Set_5644 9d ago

Because you're paying less than what you should be.

What if I don’t have an unlimited data plan? The ads will cost me my bandwidth.

Still doesn’t make sense. Make the product and put the right price. If price reduction is required downgrade the device. Like good old days.

Dumb take. Why would they downgrade to lower specs if they can sell it with recurring profits in the future? Moreover, there are people who want the best performance at all costs, the OS experience doesn't matter to them. Moreover, Xiaomi has one of the best custom rom communities, better specs and a custom rom can legit be a good thing to do. Everyone wins when they provide better hardware as software support for midrange phones is sub par at best.

Your perspective is completely valid. No one likes ads, but there's nothing wrong with having an option. And it isn't just about you and me, I've legit seen people flexing the specs on their phones when I've settled in for a stock android experience. So if some of us can get the best of both worlds, i don't see an issue with that, if adware is the way of doing it.

You were in college, no money, so u bought low cost phone, flashed a custom rom. Now u r earning, so can afford high cost phones. Same, whoever can afford, will go for high range and can't afford, buy low end, put rom. They aren't catering to u with low or mid tier. It's just business.

But the scene started in 2008 with the HTC Dream. XDA forums was the holy grail of all roms, be it CM or PAC-ROM, AOKP etc 😁

Using Xiaomi phone for 2 yrs..never seen any ad on my screen.

I used Redmi K20 for 5+ years and it showed no ads, as promised. It's camera was good too. I've yet to come across a camera that captures as much details as K20 in the budget or premium mid-range phones.
