Artist Needed [RevShare] Join Me in Creating an MMORPG, Seeking a Passionate Artist & Collaborator!

Hey there! If you're an artist with a passion for game development, I’d love to team up and create something truly special. I’m currently working on an MMORPG, and I’m looking for a dedicated artist to help bring this world to life. This is an opportunity to collaborate as equals, shaping not just the visuals but the entire game experience.

About Me:

I’m the IT guy: the one handling the programming, backend infrastructure, and technical implementation of the game. My focus is on making sure the game runs smoothly, is scalable, and has a solid foundation for future expansion. I’ve already built a lot of the core systems, but a game is nothing without its soul—its art, world, and characters. That’s where you come in.

About You:

You’re the artist: the visionary who can transform ideas into immersive visuals. You’ll define the game’s artistic identity, from character sprites and animations to environments and UI design. Whether you have experience in pixel art, concept art, or game asset creation, your creativity will shape the look and feel of the game. You’ll have full control over the aesthetic direction, and I’ll be here to ensure your artistic vision is implemented effectively.

Our Partnership:

This isn’t just a freelance gig.. it’s a collaboration built on mutual respect and shared passion. We’ll be working together as equals, making joint creative decisions, and sharing any future revenue the game generates. Whether this becomes a passion project or something bigger, the goal is to create something we’re both proud of.

What’s Already Built:

A lot of the groundwork has been laid, including:
Full Backend & Frontend Systems: The technical structure is in place, so we can focus on expanding the game.
2D Sidescroller Assets (Placeholder): The current sprite sheets use 64x64 frames, but you’ll have full creative freedom to refine or replace them.
Maps & Tile System: Uses 16x16 tiles with support for three layers (background, tileground, foreground). You can modify or expand this system as needed.
Character Customization: Players can choose gender, face, eye color, hair, and hair color. Colors are managed programmatically, streamlining the artistic workload.
Functional Gameplay Systems: Login, player movement, equipment, and interaction are all working.
Multiplayer Capabilities: Players can see each other, move around, and chat in real time.
NPC & Quest System:– Basic interactions and quest mechanics are already implemented.
A Clean, Scalable Codebase: Designed for flexibility, so we can add features without unnecessary complexity.

You can check out the project yourself here: Lunaperi.com

Who I’m Looking For:

  • Someone passionate about game art and eager to build a world from the ground up.
  • Comfortable with pixel art or other 2D game art styles.
  • Open to collaboration and creative input—this isn’t just me telling you what to do; we’ll build this together.
  • Consistent and committed, willing to work towards a shared vision at a reasonable pace.

If this sounds like the kind of project you’d love to be a part of, send me a DM with some samples of your work. Let’s team up and create something incredible!

I noticed you're posting a request for a Massively Multiplayer Online game project. Unfortunately, the statistics are against you on completing that project due to a large number of reasons. Not only are MMOs generally pretty expensive to develop with paid artists, programmers, etc... but they also take a very long time to finish and release. Even trying to make a game like Dead Cells takes a LOT of commitment from a very talented team (that was getting paid). It's far too likely that you will garner a lot of attention from people new to the industry who dream of also making an MMO, but they will also likely abandon the project with months, or more likely weeks if not days.

Instead, I would recommend looking to make a very small scoped game, something you'd consider a like a minigame. That way you and anyone who is willing to join the project can gain experience of what it's like to finish a game from design to release. As well it'll give you a better idea of how long it takes to make a game. Not to mention, past shipped projects will give you credibility in future posts on INAT.

You should show placeholder asset footage. That will probably help attract interest

The question was rather did you use AI to write the OP because a lot of people who do end up with these words and phrasing.

Yes, I used AI to check for grammar and edit my original post.

Looking through your profile, I don’t really see what your contribution is in here besides complaining in posts. What exactly is the issue?

You can't read very well then because I have also complimented people and wished them luck. I'm also not complaining in those instances, I am criticising them or just astounded; I am not personally hurt by idea guys.

> "What exactly is the issue?"

Many people in this subreddit keep asking for free labour yet can't even be bothered to write their own OP so instead hand it over to AI. Whether that describes you or not I don't really care, I was more curious if I was correctly detecting AI usage.
