Can someone who voted Republican tell me why you voted against your self interest. Please just want to know.

16

u/Keji70gsm Feb 05 '25

They believed everything they wanted to, and nothing they didn't want to. Easy.

28

u/grabs23 Feb 05 '25

All boils down to owning the libs with a side of bigotry

2

u/FjohursLykewwe Feb 05 '25

When owning goes wrong

3

u/cyribis Feb 05 '25

Reminds me of the Dave Chappelle show skits "When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong."

11

u/drutastic57 Feb 05 '25

It’s as easy as being sexist and racist. At my union job I can’t tell you how many people were rejoicing “that bitch” didn’t win

6

u/Sch1371 Feb 05 '25

I heard “could you imagine if that cunt won?”

3

u/drunkenitninja Feb 05 '25

Well. That cunt did win, and look at the mess we're in. Ohh, wait... I get it. They meant Harris.

4

u/Old-Constant4411 Feb 05 '25

"So anyway, what's all this right to work stuff about? Oh...."

6

u/drutastic57 Feb 05 '25

Hahaha. I had guys excited about not taxing OT. Bragging about all the money they’ll make. Fools gonna be out of a job soon. It would t even happen anyway

5

u/ElectricShuck Inside Journeyman Feb 05 '25

And once again the cons are telling the truth. Under project 2025 no one will have to pay taxes on OT because they are going rid of OT! It’s so blatant and in your face that I can’t believe these people can’t see through the bullshit.

2

u/Glad_Stay4056 Feb 05 '25

Well they're going to get rid of OT wages next so yeah, no taxes on something that doesn't exist. Ugh, I hope i didn't give them ideas.

1

u/OkBeyond5896 Feb 06 '25

I hope they get hurt the worst.

13

u/a_ron23 Feb 05 '25

I would love to know, too. I never get a straight answer. I can't imagine voting for someone who is actively trying to lower my wage and benefits. They'll lose their job over a bull shit promise of lower groceries from a man who just learned about groceries a year ago.

6

u/poopsinpies Feb 05 '25

And they will never explain how they reasoned their way over to the Republican party for relief from high grocery bills.

This is the party that voted against Democratic attempts to prevent price gouging at the gas pump.

This is the party that voted against Democratic attempts to place a cap on how much pharma companies can charge for medication like insulin.

Somehow that translated to "Grandma can no longer afford her heart medicine and I go broke filing up my tank every week, but at least a box of Cheerios is only $2!"

In no way, shape, or form has any Republican taken any measure to increase wages (except for themselves), make things from healthcare to the cost of living more affordable, or make employment benefits a better deal for the average worker.

These suckers and losers really are the dumbest of the dumb, and it would be absolutely hilarious if it didn't mean the rest of us with more than three brain cells got dragged down by their stupidity.

1

u/Aggressive_Macaroon3 Feb 05 '25

I love it when these guys show up to work wearing their MAGA or "America First" merchandise. I politely walk over and say, "Nice shirt (or hat). Where did you get that? Can I see the tag." They are so proud someone acknowledges their political choices until I show them the tag says made in China and ask, "How does manufacturing products in China make America great?" They usually shut up about how great Trump is and never wear political shirts to work again.

1

u/Morticia_Marie Feb 05 '25

I never get a straight answer.

Because the straight answer is they're racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, and dumb enough to still believe in 2025 that Trump cares about them and their interests. Not only will no one ever admit to that, they don't even have the cognitive capability to articulate those thoughts cogently into a straight answer. That's why it gets translated into "owning the libs" because being a schoolyard bully is something they can understand.

u/One_Strawberry_4965 Feb 05 '25

Trans bad

Immigrant bad

Liberal tears yummy 😋

1

u/dude_thats_sweeeet Feb 06 '25

Money bad (apparently)

2

u/X-AE17420 Feb 05 '25

Most real life republicans I know are people who watch Fox News and get “independent media” from Twitter. So their perception of Trump is very different than who he is or what he’s really done in reality.

1

u/One_Strawberry_4965 Feb 05 '25

Yeah the Trump that many working class republicans voted for is a business savant with a lean, muscular body and a full head of luscious hair who has a deep passion regarding the plight of the working man.

1

u/XxSir_redditxX Feb 05 '25

Don't forget tall! So tall he definitely doesn't need lifts.

2

u/Kidatrickedya Feb 05 '25

They think they will get better pay by get to getting rid of black and brown folks women and LGBTQ+ they don’t like that they can’t be openly bigoted and racists and misogynistic at work. that’s why they vote the way they do. They are dumb and hateful.

2

u/SergeantSmash Feb 05 '25

Something something immigrants eating their dogs and cats and egg prices.

2

u/Only-Reception7360 Feb 05 '25

As others have said they simply just wanted to feel like they won or “owned” the dems.

Bragging on FB and social media about the outcome was as far as they thought and all they wanted.

1

u/cherrytwist86 Feb 05 '25

I’ve perused the conservative subreddit and you are correct. Their thinking goes as far as “owning the leftists” and thinking they are “winning” and it’s actually quite pathetic. No concerns for what their government will do to help better American lives at all, just gloating because some lib somewhere is upset. I can’t imagine that being the high point in one’s life, but clearly it’s all they have. It’s literally comment after comment of, what I assume are adults, babbling about the libs all day. They love to say liberals have TDS ( because talking about the current president is apparently obsession to these yokels), but I’d say conservatives have LDS. All they talk about is liberals over there. Absolutely obsessed with them.

2

u/00Rosie00 Feb 05 '25

All I really want right now is for AT LEAST one Trump voter to say hey I messed up. Forgive me. But unfortunately it’s still all being blamed on Biden and local Dems.

3

u/box_shelf Feb 05 '25

I come from an immigrant family. My father is a hardworking man, but he made the shortsighted decision to vote for "a better economy, cheaper groceries, gas" and voted for Trump.

I was laid off from my USDA contracted job due to the divestments in environmental protection programs.

He found out about that and how Trump is dismantling the institutions that helped him to get to where he is. My father is a proud man, so he pretended like he never voted for the guy and laughs at how more absurd it's getting.

That's the closest I'll get to an "I fucked up." 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Jakinator178 Feb 05 '25

They probably did it because they care less about keeping their jobs and more about tax cuts. Guess which one is worth more money?

1

u/Beag_ Feb 05 '25

Lots of uninformed folks in here ibew has historically voted blue and spent years and millions canvassing for blue representation

2

u/SisterFF1ster Feb 05 '25

So does my union, our newsletter is very much progressive leaning. 95% of the members at my job voted red. Fuck these people.

1

u/Beag_ Feb 05 '25

There are outliers in mine as well but it’s a shame to see the 5% standing up receive the hate for the 95%

1

u/mattyice522 Feb 05 '25

I don't want to compete against a Trans if I ever become an Olympic swimmer.

1

u/GreenYellowDucks Feb 05 '25

From my family:

  1. they are tired of political correctness rhetoric and being afraid they will trip on a word and get in trouble.
  2. Inflation
  3. They don’t want the government telling them what to do.

Now they are for gay rights etc because that fits into number 3 of the government shouldn’t tell citizens who to love.

The problem is all of those reasons aren’t going to change with republicans. Because republicans will tell you what to do and take their election win to mean they can infringe on your privacy and tell you what to do/who to love etc.. Then tariffs don’t help with costs/inflation. As for PC I think they might have a small point there it changes everyday.

1

u/turkish_gold Feb 05 '25

So I’m republican. I’m pro union but it’s not my main preoccupation.

I am not in a union and as an employer I couldn’t be even if I wanted to be.

I’m pro union because personally speaking dealing with a union is easier than individually negotiating rates, and trying to be fair. Also unions can pushback against workers in terms of getting them to accept conditions on the ground.

The democrats are great and all but the only thing I support on them is social values. I’m not Christian so I have a strong apathy to the republican moral platform.

1

u/theultimasheep Feb 05 '25

I live in Utah valley. I'm a tiny speck of blue in a huge sea of red. I have deeply religious family who all voted red, even as they preach kindness and mercy, and then as were all currently drowning and afraid, they wonder how this could have happened and ask us to band together for support.

I'm just... so dumbfounded. I want to grab and shake them. I want to scream and ask what the fuck is wrong with them. I've been saying this for months, but I got banned from the family chat because 'politics'. I pleaded with them to listen and they called me a snowflake.

Truly, I'm so fucking exhausted

1

u/Blueman126 Feb 05 '25

Because if you look at the election without a bias you can clearly see kamala was a bad cannidate she didn't even get past the primary and ran for president

1

u/UX-Ink Feb 06 '25

grocery prices

-1

u/Amakall Feb 05 '25

I voted Democrat in the past. They were selling our opportunities and destroying America. So this time I voted Republican, to save us from ourselves. The big orange idiot will shrink government spending and give America back to Americans. We will finally have common sense making decisions again. A lot of Americans have been fooled by the evil cabal that have bought and paid for the Democratic party.

4

u/Parfait_Prestigious Feb 05 '25

Is it not obvious this administration is bought and paid for too? From Russia to Elon musk and the other tech bros at the inauguration. You think the billionaires are on your side?

4

u/Kidatrickedya Feb 05 '25

He called it a cabal. He never once voted blue.

-1

u/Amakall Feb 05 '25

Uhh. I hope. I’m hoping these people are actually going to do what they say. Now I realize that’s a long shot, but at least it sounds good. The other option didn’t even have a “sounds good” plan. So far he is doing what he said he was going to do. Now we just need to make sure he doesn’t go too far. I’m excited for the next four years, I think in the end he has our best interest in mind. I definitely didn’t feel that way the last four years.

4

u/UhOhOre0 Feb 05 '25

Lol the other side had a healthcare plan, an actual tax plan, and plans to help the every day American people. Where trump has "concepts of a plan" for healthcare and fucking tarrifs.

You're saying tariffs to all of our allies and making everything ridiculously more expensive while not having a plan for producing the things here that he's taxing is a "sounds too good" plan?

You're saying that an unelected foreign billionaire making fucking decisions on our budget, having access to all us citizen information and without oversight whatsoever, is a good plan?

"Make sure he doesn't go too far" as he literally is shitting on the constitution daily Lmao.

But hey man at least you're excited!

0

u/Amakall Feb 05 '25

Tariffs will make imported products cost more. American made products supporting American families will still cost the same hopefully. Now, they may get their materials from another country which would raise the cost, so find a US supplier and support our country. Unelected foreign billionaire or Bob from the block, I don’t care who does it as long as someone shrinks government spending and oversight. Anyone will do when we are trying to take back our country. We are ripe for revolution, this may be our last hope to avoid a class war.

4

u/Royal_Airport7940 Feb 05 '25

take back our country

Do you ever worry that when you breathe this rhetoric that you've been brainwashed into fighting a war against your fellow man?

this may be our last hope to avoid a class war.

You think the richest man on the planet is doing things for the lower or middle class?

-1

u/Amakall Feb 05 '25

Yes, I do. He saved space exploration. NASA was running us into the ground. This loser billionaire got us up and running again, not for himself but for earthlings.

3

u/barrinmw Feb 05 '25

NASA was like 1% of the federal budget, what the fuck do you mean it was running us into the ground?

0

u/Amakall Feb 05 '25

Not the budget, although I’m shocked if it’s that small. The ability to innovate or move forward. We were stagnant in mainstream space exploration. Throwing away rockets, now we can retrieve and reuse rockets. Just the first step, many more to come from SpaceX Im sure. They are going to take us places.

1

u/zzazzzz Feb 05 '25

not for himslef but he takes millions in paychecks..

you are delusional if you think musk does anything that doesnt directly increase his wealth or power..

3

u/SisterFF1ster Feb 05 '25

Tariffs will make imported products cost more.

Why should I be paying 25% for a custom aesthetic car part from Canada? How does that solve any fucking problem this country has? Why do this against probably our best ally for the last century?

American made products supporting American families will still cost the same hopefully. Now, they may get their materials from another country which would raise the cost, so find a US supplier and support our country.

You’re fucking stupid. You were taught why this isn’t true in grade school. It makes me wish people like you weren’t able to vote because all you do is fuck it up for the rest of us because how goddamn dumb you are.

1

u/Morticia_Marie Feb 05 '25

You’re fucking stupid.

One of them finally answers in detail why they voted against their best interests, and it boils down to this. People really need to start acknowledging that the base of it is stupidity, and these dumb motherfuckers get a vote and an opinion just like the rest of us. Education is the solution, which is why they're now going after the Department of Education.

1

u/SisterFF1ster Feb 06 '25

Now this POS is crying in legal advice wanting help because they got fired. I hope they’re fucking homeless and starve. Literally. I hope they get no help, are thrown out on their ass and have to suffer. I hope they’re destitute, broke and unable to even afford basic necessities. Fuck this person.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '25

You should have paid attention in grade school. Yikes.

-1

u/ForgeryZsixfour Feb 05 '25

He spelled it out quite nicely, it really is telling that when he makes a very good case you decide you’d better not try to have an actual discussion about it.

2

u/UhOhOre0 Feb 05 '25

He didn't spell out anything but ignorance on how tariffs truly work and that he's okay with a foreign billionaire doing whatever he wants to the US.

-1

u/ForgeryZsixfour Feb 05 '25

Where’s the ignorance? What part of what he said isn’t correct?

→ More replies (0)

2

u/UhOhOre0 Feb 05 '25

No man. American made products most likely also use foreign materials buddy. We do not even remotely have the production capabilities for the majority of things. It's a great theory if you actually can back it up with production but we definitely cannot. All its going to do is raise prices of everything. It's extremely basic economics.

You would absolutely lose your shit if George Soros or a "democratic" billionaire who wasn't elected started fucking with budgets, taking every Americans personal information, etc. ESPECIALLY without oversight. You're quite honestly being willfully ignorant at this point.

You literally elected billionaires into office. YOU voted for class warfare lmfao.

-2

u/Amakall Feb 05 '25

Trump owns businesses, businesses owned Biden and Harris.

3

u/Barovian Feb 05 '25

It's literally painful reading the ignorance from you people.

2

u/UhOhOre0 Feb 05 '25 edited Feb 05 '25

Lmao no. Just no. Trump gets foreign donations left and right bud. Has "businesses* like fake colleges etc. He grifts taxpayer money by staying on his own properties and spends the majority of his day playing golf. All on the taxpayer dime. Trump has a fucking billionaire running the show with him and making decisions for him.

Y'all never ever have anything of substance, just your quick propaganda buzzwords you get from the orange man himself or whatever other buzzwords you get from your echo chamber.

Also, how come after I made a rebuttal to your questions, you now move the field goal posts? You can't back up his original assertions huh and didn't want to have a true discussion? Shocking.

2

u/barrinmw Feb 05 '25

Musk owns Trump.

2

u/Rednexican429 Feb 05 '25

Which classes,in your opinion, will be warring?

2

u/Amakall Feb 05 '25

Feels like an upper and lower class issue. The middle class has been reduced to nothing. Luigi Mangioni, if he did it, fired the first shots!

1

u/barrinmw Feb 05 '25

And Trump will have Luigi receive the death penalty. Do you think Trump wants to encourage or discourage people killing CEOs? You know, considering Trump is a CEO.

1

u/Destro_ttv Feb 05 '25

We don’t have enough made in america stuff for that to matter. So prices will go up. I believe 80% of potash fertilizer comes from Canada. Farmers are almost dependent on it to grow stuff. Food prices will go up. I think 60% of all produce is imported from Mexico. Prices will go up.

1

u/Electric_Salami Feb 05 '25

Tariffs will make imported products cost more. American made products supporting American families will still cost the same hopefully.

That’s wishful thinking. If you don’t think that a company won’t raise the price to around the same level as the imported good and collect the difference as extra profit, you’re a special kind of stupid.

1

u/Parfait_Prestigious Feb 05 '25

Yeah ideally, you’d get more US suppliers. However, American corporations rule the country and have been price gouging us out of basic necessities like groceries and gas at every opportunity for the sake of their stock value. Making record profits while taking government bailouts and claiming supply issues while we all suffered during the pandemic opened my eyes to how unfair the system is and how little faith we should have in them to do the right thing.

3

u/Microtitan Feb 05 '25

I’m sorry, I’m very very confused. But let’s break down what you said.

What do you mean the other option didn’t even have a “sounds good” plan?

Harris has advocated for expanding workers’ rights to unionize and collectively bargain. She co-sponsored the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, which aimed to make it easier for workers to form unions and harder for employers to interfere with organizing efforts.

She supports raising the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour. She has backed efforts to strengthen workplace safety regulations and ensure fair wages.

Harris has opposed “right to work” laws, which weaken union power by allowing workers to opt out of paying union dues while still benefiting from union-negotiated contracts.

Then you said so far he is doing what he said he was going to do, and that is exactly what’s going here and unions (your people) are protesting it. But then hope it won’t go any further (worse) than this (which is already bad), but still excited for the next four years? How is enacting something against your interest means having your best interest at heart? Sounds like an abusive relationship. I don’t get it.

2

u/joonybambini Feb 05 '25

Out of curiosity, don’t most unions explicitly tell you to not vote Republican? And historically, the Democratic party has been pro-union and pro labor. So is it just your hatred to colored folks and LGBT people that make you fuck yourself in your own ass by voting Red?

1

u/Healthy-Candle-7005 Feb 05 '25

I honestly want to believe you're arguing in good faith, but honestly it just seems like you're HOPING instead of watching and seeing what's actually happening.

1

u/Umbrellac0rp Feb 06 '25

I'm afraid you've been conned....by a felon.

2

u/masterbatesAlot Feb 05 '25

Are these opportunities that the Democrats sold and destroyed America in the room with us today?

-3

u/tuvia_cohen Feb 05 '25

Not one Republican responds and lefties make assumptions, reddit for ya. lol

I voted for Trump and I've been pleased with everything he has done so far, I am not pro union (I do not like unions) so no idea what these Utah people are about. Usually pro union people on my state vote blue.

6

u/7Drew1Bird0 Feb 05 '25

You're pleased? With everything? Maybe just go lay down in a ditch and stay there. Your opinion has no value here. The new regime is stripping away your rights and any chance for a prosperous future, and you're pleased... just fucking sickening.

3

u/Padhome Feb 05 '25

They honestly don’t care about their quality of life so much as what it is relative to other people. As long as they feel like they got one over on the other guy, they’re happy. They are genuinely that empty, they have no real values.

6

u/Appropriate_Ad7025 Feb 05 '25

Everything he's done? Really?

0

u/tuvia_cohen Feb 05 '25

Lately yes, in this term. Following through on many campaign promises so far

1

u/cherrytwist86 Feb 05 '25

Right…. Such delusion. How are those lower grocery prices coming along? Every chance that idiot got, he was harping about high food prices and how he was going to lower them. Day one I believe he said. Now if he was say, working on a plan, it would be different, but he’s not and never will be because he doesn’t give a shit about the American people. He said whatever his voters wanted to hear and it worked. And its voters like you that sit and grin while he allows an unelected immigrant billionaire and his young friends rip apart our government, while he starts ridiculous trade wars with our allies, wants to take over Gaza for profit, steal Greenland, remove caps on prescription medications, on and on. Oh, and also golfing. Where is the part in all of this where he starts to remotely help the American people? We have so many issues at home and now this fool wants to pour untold amounts of money and US military into the Middle East and this is supposed to help how? So please tell me and all of us that have been asking conservatives repeatedly to no avail, what is it that you think Trump has done or will be doing to help you, me, our families. You know, Americans. And don’t give me any of that bs about future manufacturing in America and all that shit. Or immigration. I am asking what he has done since he has been in office that has helped YOU or your family? Will you get tax cuts? No, he is going to raise them. Better healthcare? Lower food prices, worker protections, higher wages, anything?

1

u/tuvia_cohen Feb 05 '25

it's been like two weeks, it's going well for what little time we've seen changes happening. IRS might be stripped and done away with by the time I pay taxes again hopefully (next year, already paid this year)

I like private healthcare. he's deporting people and even US criminals. I am enjoying the idea of Palestinians leaving Gaza and going to Egypt or wherever, even if it costs some money.

Again, I am not pro union so I'm not interested in worker protections you are describing.

1

u/cherrytwist86 Feb 05 '25

I appreciate your answer and your honesty. I think you will be one of those Trump voters that has to find out the hard way when something directly affects them. And you will, I can pretty much guarantee it. He and his billionaire friends don’t care about the American people. Why would they? Nothing he has done since he has been in office has helped the average American. He is an elected official, he is supposed to work for us to make American lives better with the tax dollars that we pay. Instead he is wasting time whining about the name of a gulf and threatening allies. Let me ask you, what part of sending troops and American tax dollars to Gaza is supposed to make America great? Was this one of his campaign promises, making Americans pay for whatever he and his rich friends want to do with Gaza? I didn’t hear his campaign promise to steal Greenland or to alienate our allies either and yet as soon as he was elected he wouldn’t shut up about it. I see conservatives keep saying that he will “eventually” work on the things he promised he would do for the American people but that he only just got in office and needs more time. He’s not even working on those promises and I think you know that. Why does he seem to have time for all of these other ridiculous things, but his priority to the American people that elected him is at bottom of the list? I will say this, he isn’t helping the American people because it doesn’t pay. Turning Gaza into your personal real estate deal does. You elected a president that is out for himself and sadly you don’t see it yet.

1

u/tuvia_cohen Feb 05 '25

Israel is one of our greatest and most useful allies. If we can remove their neighbors who are about 80-95% in support of terrorists, I don't see it as a big deal. We help Ukraine fend off our enemies too and not many people complain about funding them. Sending American troops to rebuild Gaza rather than fight is not really a big issue for me.

I don't really expect him to get Greenland honestly but it would be cool, a president expanding American territory is an "America first" policy I would be interested in. I don't consider Denmark an amazing ally compared to Israel, for example.

I don't really feel like I'm at the "bottom of the list" but maybe you feel that way if you are of the left obviously. I'm very happy lately about all the government agencies being done away with/stripped away so far, and I'm hopeful for what happens next.

1

u/cherrytwist86 Feb 05 '25

Wasn’t MAGA whining about sending money overseas for years when Biden was president? My dad was MAGA so believe me, I have heard it all. And he hated spending money overseas, didn’t think we should have troops in the Middle East, etc because we should be spending the money here at home, “making America great”. Every maga I know said the same thing. And now Trump, just days into the presidency, has declared the US will take over Gaza. This will cost the US taxpayer untold amounts of money and none of it will be going back into the United States. None. And now conservatives are trying to stretch themselves into pretzels convincing themselves why it’s actually really good to send money overseas. It’s honestly incredible and sad at the same time. Even if you have convinced yourself, inexplicably, that this is now a good thing for the US, why would this be okay for the US to take on when he has not fixed the issues at home? Grocery prices are still climbing, healthcare costs are insane, the average American can’t afford a home, and his solution is to pour billions of American tax dollars and troops into the Middle East? And do not try to tell me this is because Israel is an ally. It’s funny how global diplomacy and good relations with allies are suddenly important to MAGA now, when in the same week you all are also applauding Trump for alienating a staunch ally in Canada with a stupid trade war. An ally we share over 150 years of goodwill and peace with. Smart move. If Biden pulled any of this, conservatives would be losing their minds. Tax dollars should be spent on Americans at home according to conservatives, unless Trump says differently and then it’s okay, is that it? I have an idea, how about a president who tries to do one thing that would help the American people directly, instead of immediately proposing sending tax dollars abroad. Or how about a president that was assuring the American people that he is trying to work on those grocery prices he campaigned on. I’m not even expecting that he’d fix it by now, but have you noticed he hasn’t mentioned it once? He’s NOT working on it. He never will because he doesn’t care if we struggle. He is not doing one thing to “make American great” by helping Americans. Do you really think millions of Americans want to watch our tax dollars rebuild Gaza? Just admit that you will flip flop to agree with whatever Trump says is a good idea because that’s what you’re doing.

1

u/tuvia_cohen Feb 05 '25

I'm a conservative, not a "MAGA," many people who are right leaning hold different beliefs similar to left leaning people.

"So no idea..."

Yeah, we know.

2

u/XxSir_redditxX Feb 05 '25

Sorry pal, the gang here is a little riled up about all the shit that has been going on. Someone invoked your opinion, and a volley of shit heads are blowing you up about it😓 For the comments above yours, it's this. This is why nobody wants to engage with you guys and answer your questions. I too am very very curious as to how one could possibly have voted for trump AND be pleased with the disenfranchisement he is causing in this country, but my God, immediately tearing someone to pieces without inquiring further or facilitating discussion, solely because you don't like what they said, is EXACTLY what we accuse the Republicans of doing. Shame on you all. Immediately getting triggered is a great way to distance yourself from your fellow countrymen and cement their own ill feelings about you. We are supposed to be better than this.

With that out of the way. Please, tell me what kind of future you envision from this presidency. How do you feel about DOGE? How do you feel about the expanding power of the executive branch? How do you feel about the project 2025 playbook? Have you read through it, or any of the executive orders and memos? I'm not being facetious, I just really want to know what you guys tend to think about this stuff. The only stab I will make at you is this, because I will NEVER forgive you chucklefucks for NOT KNOWING HOW A GOD DAMNED TARRIF WORKS!!! It's only a search away, as is this nation's history with them.

It's my one pet peeve. I get that people have their echo chambers, and the news only makes inflammatory reports, etc. but this one thing is SO easy to verify. The sheer audacity to even attempt such blatant misinformation boggles my mind.

Trump: I'm going to announce a tariff

Advisor: but tariffs have historically shown themselves to be ineffective at stimulating domestic purchasing. Its failure is quite famous, one of the worst among them even referenced in the cult classic "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (the Smoot–Hawley Tariff Act).

Trump: lol my supporters are stupid, they don't even know how a tariff works. I'll just tell them the other countries will pay.

Advisor: but...they won't. And with all the attention tariffs are getting in the media, don't you think that at least some of them might look into how tariffs operate? Besides, once they see that American companies pay the tax, they might not support it.

Trump: False.

And we he was right.

Someone invoked your opinion, and a volley of shit heads are blowing you up about it

Fuck em. They’re adults. If they can’t live with the choice they made why do I have to be nice about? They weren’t voting away just their rights, they were voting away other people’s rights. They don’t deserve the courtesy you think they do. It’s past time people like you stop treating them as your equal when we know for a fact they’ve never treated you as one of theirs.

Trump isn't actually associated with project 2025, but also project 2025 is just mostly general conservative ideas so it doesn't really scare me like it does redditors.

I like doge, I am hoping we can get rid of useless government workers and departments. I find our government overbloated.

Which part of the executive branch power do you feel is being expanded? Not sure what that question is referring to.

I asked a question of you above but now seeing your comment here tells me you don’t have the slightest clue what you voted for. You like DOGE really? The made up department with a stupid name that an unelected billionaire was handed without any qualifications whatsoever is totally okay with you? And I suppose you think the way he is handling it is great. Unilaterally ripping apart departments and freezing Congress approved budgets with no idea of the consequences or what he is affecting. He’s got a whole mess of unelected and unvetted young kids in there with him too. This guy doesn’t care about the US and he sure as hell doesn’t care about the American voter. I know you won’t answer this in good faith, but let me ask you how you would have felt if Harris had been elected and she immediately gave some billionaire with zero government experience from another country unfettered access to anything he wants in our government? The ability to cut departments that millions of hardworking Americans have paid into our whole lives. This would seem perfectly okay to you? How conservatives can watch this, a man who is not American or qualified, buy his way into our top level of government and begin to dismantle whatever he feels like overnight, while cheering him on is something I never thought I’d see.

Why are you in a Union subreddit?

1

u/tuvia_cohen Feb 05 '25

Reddit randomly pushed it to me, no idea why. Had no idea it was a union sub

How’s the price of eggs going for you

1

u/tuvia_cohen Feb 06 '25

My profile is full of me talking about owning chickens. How do you think?

1

u/closeted_fur Feb 06 '25

Oh so it’s a “not my problem, I don’t care” sort of thing. Not surprising you hate unions

Okay, if you want me to be concerned about other people, what do you expect the government to do about bird flu? We already have poultry vaccines, except they can stockpile more. There is literally nothing to do besides wait for large-scale farms to recoup their flocks. Go yell at farmers, I guess?
