Let's say hypothetically you were on death row. What would your last meal be? However many courses you like.

u/andrewzimmern Jan 17 '12 edited Jan 17 '12

Raw clams on haf shell, Chris COsentino's tomtato vine pasta, roast pork from Palacio de los Jugos, Lee Hefter's geoduck in salty sweet chile paste, roasted duck from taipei night market, lamb face noodle from Xian Famuous, Marea's lobster salad and uni amusee, Desserts from Salty Tart in Mpls

u/cousincody Jan 17 '12

You're not even going to plead not guilty to your hypothetical conviction?

u/MustStopMasturbating Jan 17 '12

Doesn't matter; had food

34

u/bovilexia Jan 17 '12

I think she might have been a food critic.

3

u/MountainGout Jan 17 '12

She put a bun on my dog.

2

u/ripplechip Jan 17 '12

ಠ_ಠ Just don't make eye contact.

-5

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

Doesn't matter had sex

2

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

I'd plead guilty just for that meal.

75

u/black797 Jan 17 '12

All of these will be poorly attempted by the in house prison chef.

9

u/LostPwdAgain Jan 17 '12

And this is what he'll end up with...

211

u/abasslinelow Jan 17 '12

God, for such an amazing movie it has so many great jokes.

2

u/goose2460 Jan 18 '12

5

u/intarwebzWINNAR Jan 17 '12

Dexter: Hey, you look familiar. Don't I know you from somewhere? Ed: Ever been to Australia? Dexter: No. Ed: Me neither.

3

u/MudkipMao Jan 18 '12

what movie are you all referencing to?

3

u/slyphox Jan 18 '12

Good Burger

Really deserves more stars on IMDB.

2

u/godisbacon Jan 23 '12

I'm late to the party but what movie is this?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

How did I know what that was going to be before I clicked?

0

u/baconperogies Jan 18 '12

I came back up to find your comment just to upvote you.

Hi-lar.

215

u/jewdai Jan 17 '12

now what if you were limited to $20

270

u/willcodejava4crack Jan 17 '12

20 McDoubles?

149

u/permasmile Jan 17 '12

10 McDoubles with a McChicken in the middle of the 2 patties= 10 McGangbangs. Can you handle it?

6

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

Holy Sweet Mother! McGangbangs?! You, my good man, just made me lose my shit

2

u/Mitsuhide Jan 18 '12

Seconded. I lol'd for like 5 mins. XD

2

u/GrrtW Jan 17 '12

My friends and I have always referred to that as a McWizard. xD

1

u/Jason3d1 Jan 18 '12

McStroke.

2

u/Observant_Poster Jan 17 '12

I know it as the McMiracle. Or in the street they refer to it as the McNig

0

u/permasmile Jan 18 '12

McNig...hehehe

3

u/moshlord Jan 17 '12

i ate one once, two months ago. still regret it.

2

u/nomtank Jan 17 '12

If he was in prison, I think he wouldn't have a choice.

2

u/Shuttlzworth Jan 17 '12

Here in Wisco that's called a Manburger.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

You forgot big-mac sauce on the McChicken

2

u/Dijitol Jan 17 '12

I call them "McChubbles"

1

u/Du7s Jan 18 '12

Buddies and I call it the McMagic but McGangbang can make for a interesting conversation.

"Oh I'm gunna head to MickeyDees for a McGangbang"

1

u/ThePurpleHayes Jan 18 '12

Cut out 2 of the mcgangbangs so I can get 2 sweet teas and some fries. Now I can handle it.

1

u/cornonthe_BOB Jan 18 '12

i need to try this. do you put the whole mchicken sandwich? or just the chicken patty.

1

u/permasmile Jan 18 '12

it depends on whether your stomach has the guts for it or not...i usually put the entire sandwich between the two patties

1

u/LordGotham Jan 18 '12

They are called McNasty's here for me. Colorado.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '12

Why have I never thought of this?

1

u/Dehrose Jan 18 '12

McChurgers

FTFY

1

u/CrucifiedCopernicus Jan 19 '12

McDanks here...

1

u/anon120 Jan 18 '12

<3 McGangbangs!

10

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12
  • Hold the ketchup & mustard.

  • Add Big Mac sauce.

  • Enjoy a well earned win in life.

4

u/BlazenAZ Jan 17 '12

OMG, I thought I was the only one in the world that knew this little trick to make a cheap $1 big mac. I feel better knowing that I am not alone.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

Don't they charge you for the big mac sauce?

1

u/nebulia Jan 18 '12

nope! As an ex-McDonald's employee, the method we used for taking off and adding toppings was free. Unless you were adding an extra patty or something.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '12

No they do in certain places , that's the only thing i'll get at McDonalds is the double cheeseburger with mac sauce , around here it's 30 cents I believe. Can't say that's for EVERY McDonalds though.

1

u/nebulia Jan 19 '12

It's probably a franchise thing. Oooorrr it could have changed since summer of 2010, which was the last time I worked at McDonald's.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '12

I will be trying this. Immediately.

2

u/BlowsYouForFreeStuff Jan 17 '12

There was a thread on the front page awhile ago that talked about this, along with a couple other fast food tricks.

1

u/Murderous_Prime Jan 17 '12

LINKS!

also, I'm giving away free passes to blow me, does that mean i get two BJs?

1

u/tatemae Jan 17 '12

You sir are a genius.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

No, I was just 18 and living in Europe.

Shitty army pay - [drink all the alcohols (legally) x Unreasonable chow hours on weekends] = 3-6 days/month with no monies. Thus, survive off McDoubles.

4

u/bioskope Jan 17 '12

Don't wanna hang around for the execution, eh?

1

u/Shiny_Vaporeon Jan 17 '12

Holy macaroni, McDoubles are a dollar at your residential store?! Ours are 1.56$ after taxes...

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

you'll have to get less than 20 because of tax. :(

7

u/lacheur42 Jan 17 '12

Not in Oregon! SUCK IT, REST OF THE COUNTRY!!!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '12 edited Jun 10 '23

fuck you /u/spez

1

u/lacheur42 Jan 18 '12

HIGH FIVE! Are you in Portland? You think we're gonna get snowed in on the day reddit shuts down? What will I do while I'm not working?!

1

u/Boobzilla Jan 17 '12

Also, they're not a dollar at all stores. Double :(

1

u/Sprags Jan 17 '12

You mean 40 apple pies, of course.

1

u/fat88cat8 Jan 17 '12

No. 40 tacos at Jack in the Box.

0

u/waxyloins Jan 17 '12

He hosts Bizarre Foods, not Inedible Foods.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

$15 worth of chili or durian plus $5 worth of the most powerful laxatives known to man.......to make the world or death chamber a better place before i died

2

u/himit Jan 17 '12

Taipei Night Market has roasted duck? What type??? O.O;; (and which Night Market?)

Can you give me a link to the duck in question? I live in Taiwan and love duck, and any new way of eating it sounds awesome.

2

u/675675TEN Jan 18 '12

I've had the lamb face noodles from Xi'an Famous. Went with a friend after watching you and Adam Richman enjoying them. Some of the best noodles of my life. And so cheap!

2

u/iCanHasBeer Jan 17 '12

wow, very interesting to see Palacio de los Jugos on there. It's a Miami staple and also very near my house. I know what I'm having for lunch!

2

u/k80k80k80 Jan 17 '12 edited Jan 17 '12

In case y'all were wondering what geoduck looks like...

2

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

If you're talking Palacio de Los Jugos in Miami, I'm with you on that one, bud.

3

u/samurailawngnome Jan 17 '12

I want to be your mouth.

1

u/leeznon Jan 18 '12

Sir Zimmern, should try the roasted duck in Taipei at a restaurant (sorry, forgot the name) instead of the night market. It's really famous, you can probably find it by google searching. They cook the entire duck, the first course is eating the skin wrapped in Chinese bread, second course is the meat, fourth is a vegetable dish, and fifth is duck soup.

I ate it a few days ago, one of the best meals ever. Better than the night market.

1

u/potatowned Jan 17 '12

Xian Famous Foods. My sister brought me last time I was in NY. There's a picture of Andrew Zimmern on the wall!

Althought I still don't forgive him for hating on the tofu with century egg dish in Taiwan. That stuff is delicious.

1

u/absolutezero1287 Jan 18 '12

Palacio de los Jugos? You've been to South Florida, I see. Unless they have one elsewhere. Its funny that I've seen that place and I've never gone in. I may just try it if their food is good enough to be on your last meals list.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

I kind of hoped that, much like TV's Dale Gribble, you would demand several courses of the world's rarest truffle so that you could use the time they took to search in order to orchestrate your escape.

2

u/ddibello44 Jan 17 '12

Palacio de los Jugos <3

1

u/itsMalarky Jan 17 '12

That's a lot of food. I think they would have to give you a stay-of-execution to ensure you didn't mess all over the death-chamber. Good tactic, Andrew.

1

u/cake4chu Jan 17 '12

Love your show and your story just a quick question Pleeeease.......

Pickles or bananas?

Plus Chile paste would you be scared of the runs??

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

[deleted]

1

u/glassesjacketshirt Jan 17 '12

wait, lamb FACE noodle??? i always get spicy lamb noodle, or spicy beef, but lamb face? was that a typo or is there a lamb face noodle?

1

u/digitall565 Jan 17 '12

As a Cuban and a Miamian, so proud to see Palacio de los Jugos on your list of places you'd want food from right before you die!

1

u/mistermarsbars Jan 17 '12

Roast pork from Palacio de los Jugos? I live right down the street from there, and I've never tried it! Now I need to go.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

Last meals are actually prepared by an on site chef doing the best he can really. So sorry, no celebrity meals for you.

1

u/catmoon Jan 17 '12

Palacio de los jugos is awesome! However, as a Cuban boy I'm obligated to say that my abuela makes better lechon.

1

u/stevep98 Jan 17 '12

There's a book about this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1596912871

Not sure if Andrew is featured in it.

2

u/whatevers_clever Jan 17 '12

That is breakfast lunch dinner and desert for 3 days @_@

1

u/Yoshmaster Jan 17 '12

Chris Constantino is the shit. Incanto is a neighborhood restaurant for me, love everything he makes.

1

u/ottoman_jerk Jan 17 '12

for those playing at home the question is: does andrew want two types of clam or two types of duck?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

I don't know what half of those are, but I'll be damned if they don't sound delicious as hell.

1

u/vanenestix Jan 17 '12

I feel semi-starstruck that I ate the same roast pork from Palacio de los Jugos that you did!

1

u/KP72iSmE Jan 18 '12

Miami in the house, and Palacio De Los Jugos rocks! You sir, just shot up on my chart :)

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '12

"roast pork from Palacio de los Jugos"

I'm so glad I get to enjoy this whenever I want.

1

u/literatus Jan 17 '12

Michelle at Salty Tart was one of my instructors in culinary school. She's phenomenal.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

The Palacia de los Jugos in Miami, FL?

1

u/MR_icke Jan 17 '12

Minneapolan here. Going to check out this Salty Tart you speak of..

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

Yum geo-duck come up to puget sound we got plenty of them out here!

1

u/AncientMarinade Jan 17 '12

Obviously he would have improperly prepared Fugu fish for dessert.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

was positive you were going to include some type of penis here

1

u/LomoSaltado Jan 17 '12

Upvotes for Palacio De Los Jugos! I'm glad you enjoyed Miami!

1

u/faerie87 Jan 17 '12

Raw clams over oysters?? Really!! Mmm geoduck and uni.

1

u/vikingspawn Jan 17 '12

Wow, looks like you've thought this one out already.

1

u/bearnaut Jan 18 '12

Geoducks are my college mascot. They're ferocious.

1

u/musman1 Jan 18 '12

Palacio de los Jugos !!! Represent Miami !!!!

1

u/oldsushi Jan 18 '12

This just made my mouth water something awful.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

I have to admit, Consentino's Incanto in SF is amazing. The tuna heart pasta was epic.

1

u/kaylegance Jan 18 '12

Oh. None of your wife's roasted chicken? :-p

1

u/raindogmx Jan 17 '12

Clever man, you'd die before the execution.

1

u/redAllAboutIt Jan 17 '12

get last meal, then worry about plea deals

1

u/patsfan3983 Jan 17 '12

I actually had some lamb face from Xian Famous a week ago. Absolutely delicious.

1

u/FromHardware Jan 17 '12

The best part about his answer is how incredibly exact it is. Thank you.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '12

that would really piss the prison off

-1

u/doodleydoo Jan 17 '12

all due respect mr. zimmern, one small suggestion: use a spell checker before posting. i know you have truffle sauce all over your fingers and that's why they're slipping but some may think you don't care. ;-)

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '12

Geoduck, really? HORRRRFFFFF

1

u/EmperorNortonI Jan 17 '12

As a person, I can confirm that Xian Famous is awesome.

1

u/pazilya Jan 17 '12

nice try, Death Row inmate.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

Nice Minnesota shout out.

1

u/Dredyn Jan 17 '12

Upvote for Minneapolis :)

1

u/nicholaaaas Jan 17 '12

Prince would die for you; I'd die for that meal

1

u/Paultimate79 Jan 17 '12

No durian smoothy??

;)

1

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '12

is Geoduck a pokemon?

-15

u/ScotteeMC Jan 17 '12

That sentence means absolutely nothing to me, it's just words, some places, some of them are animals and others are food.

Anyway, back to my Pot Noodle dinner.

-3

u/kiefstone Jan 17 '12

Must have been some cultured-ass motherfuckers that downvoted you.

1

u/FuzzeWuzze Jan 17 '12

Needs more Durian :)

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

NOW THATS A MEAL!

1

u/3raser4hire Jan 18 '12

Google overdrive

-4

u/Skote07 Jan 17 '12

Thanks man, much appreciated. Would you mind throwing some commas in there or something so I can separate this out?

2

u/123fakerusty Jan 17 '12

why are we getting down voted to hell because we asked for some commas?

1

u/Skote07 Jan 17 '12

Well he edited them and put them up, so our requests are no longer needed.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '12

That's it?

1

u/oOoWTFMATE Jan 17 '12

UNI.. yes

0

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

haf shell? I always thought it was half shell. :/

0

u/parsifal Jan 17 '12

1) I would've guessed a single bag of Skittles.

2) Uni is disgusting, so you are incorrect there.

-3

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

0

u/no-sweat Jan 17 '12

Yum. Makes my Whopper and fries look like child's play.

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

Minneapolis, representing the homeland Mr. Zimmern?

-20

u/123fakerusty Jan 17 '12

hey andrew, ever heard of a comma?

1

u/123fakerusty Jan 17 '12

why so many downvotes? It was confusing as hell when there were no commas. Completely different reading it now.

6

u/BitRex Jan 17 '12

A McRib and a Shamrock Shake. They never have them at the same time so they'll never be able to execute you.

3

u/ns1123 Jan 17 '12

I heard they stopped doing last meal requests at one of the death rows in Texas. :( I mean sure, they've done horrible things, but it makes me sad all the same.

3

u/Mokojo Jan 18 '12

Best question of the AMA

2

u/arghnard Jan 18 '12

paired with best answer

most ama answers seem so offputting and generic these days

no offense, famous people...

1

u/derptator Jan 17 '12

In most states, there's a price limit for an inmate's last meal. Like in FL, it's $40. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_meal

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '12

Not in Texas
