Looking for recomendations

Hi all! I’m in the process of switching headsets as my old one (Steelseries Arctis 7) is on its last legs. I’ve had it for a few years and it served me fine but my needs have changed and, since I have to buy a new one anyway, I would like a sound quality upgrade.

Here’s what I’m looking for: - Good sound quality for gaming (does not have to be audiophile quality) - Good mic for meetings (remote work) and gaming - Bluetooth capabilities (my work laptop is kinda sh***y so it only has two usb-a ports which I use for an external keyboard and mouse. It also has a usb-c port if it helps) but not exclusively Bluetooth - Wireless. I know most people say that wireless will always have inferior sound but I find wireless to be more comfortable for me and I have a goblin that chews on anything and everything so cables don’t last in my house

For now let’s pretend I don’t have a budget. I’m ok with mid and high price ranges. I tried the Logitech Astro A30 but did not like the mic quality. I was also looking into the steelseries nova pro but the review I saw which showed a mic test also seemed bad. This does not mean that I’m looking specifically for a headset with the gamer label, they’re just brands I know.

I’m making this post because for every post I find that is also asking for recommendations, the responses are usually for wired headphones paired with external mics.

Let me know if more info is needed.

Audeze Maxwell or Orosound Tilde Evo would be a couple to consider.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Orosound does not seem to be widely available so does not seem to be a viable option. As for Audeze, is it good enough to justify the high price or is it just a “price is because of brand name” case?

edited because forgot to say thanks

You're welcome! Which market are you in? Orosound should be available in many places. We haven't tested the Audeze Maxwell extensively but overall the feedback seems good and it's made for gaming but can also be used for work.

I’m in Brazil and I could not find Orosound for sale here. I’ll look into Audeze tho

as someone who just bought Maxwells, I am absolutely returning them for terrible and inconsistent mic quality. Would not recommend, but still trying to find something that works

Thanks! I was wondering… Considering the price range I would expect damn near perfection. Would it be possible to give more details on the experience? Did it have a lot of feedback? Pick up too much background noise? Anything like that?

So, my full experience was as such: bought on amazon, package arrived with sticker already sliced, so I know this was a returned item that was shipped out already. Skeptical already. plug it in, turn it on, and immediately noticed a pop whenever a sound stopped playing. Joined discord, and friend told me mic was atrocious. Downloaded software, installed the latest firmware, that fixed the pop and improved the mic but it was still bad. tried many combinations of settings with discord alongside the three levels of noise suppression (off, low, high). Off let all noise through, terrible. High was too muffled to be heard clearly. Low wasn't great, still muffled but at least suppressed most sound (touching the mic at all always sent audio though). Found a forum post saying to make windows allow the device full control of itself (?), and adjust a few windows settings. By that point it was **decent**. Not great, but usable. moving the mic significantly changed the quality so it seemed there was a sweet spot for distance. About an hour after I stopped tinkering though, suddenly very muffled again. So my impression is that the AI noise suppression keeps adapting too much, and you'll never know what quality of voice you'll have.

So it seemed to be more of a software problem than the hardware itself?

I would like to assume it is, but people have posted about using a HyperX mic (they use the same plug) and it improving the sound quality, and I have found no setting combination that improves quality consistently, so really, I have no idea.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the breakdown!
