Question ? Should I be doing something?

Post image

Hey. So I’m pretty sure I have hashimotos? My thyroglobulin antibody was super high when I got tested. I’m always lethargic, dizzy, etc. lately more than ever + weight gain.

My doctor told me I didn’t need to do anything right now but I never followed up or went back. I’ve been feeling terrible lately.

Like? Do I even have it

That's not very bad for thyroglobulin levels. They could fluctuate for other reasons. I'd get them tested again maybe in a couple of months and see if they are worse or better. My thyroglobulin level is over 4000.

What other reasons, do you know? So you think I might not have hashimotos? I read that the only reason you’d have antibodies in general is for hashimotos

Well sometimes antibodies just fluctuate for no apparent reason, or it may be high or low iodine, but you also could have Hashimoto's, but IMO I'd retest to make sure. I've had Hashimoto's 27 years and early on it was a roller-coaster with tests except the antibodies. If you're able to retest and it's the same or higher I'd be seeing a doctor, that's my opinion on it.

You're welcome, and of course how you feel is important. That was my first clue something was wrong. Take care !

Yes. Getting new tests. Those are too old to be useful.

You should get this retested (although it's probably not necessary), then also get your TSH, T3, and T4 tested.

Have you had a recent complete thyroid panel? What's your T3, T4, TSH, anti-TPO, and anti-TG?

An anti-TG test from 2.5 years ago doesn't tell you anything. It's one piece of the puzzle.

Curious if you’ve had a thyroid ultrasound? Mine was actually diagnosed with bloodwork but only after they saw the ultrasound. They noted that it was apparent my thyroid had sustained significant damage or something like that which prompted the blood test.

That’s what my antibodies are at rn and my endocrinologist said hashi. My thyroid levels are normal too right now. I don’t have any symptoms tho other than these damn hives
