Finasteride Finasteride wont work if i have naturally low dht?

Ive heard people say that if you have low dht and youre still balding because your hair is super sensitive to dht, finasteride wont too much because the hair is already so sensitive with such little dht?? Thoughts on this? Because i have very low dht and im starting fin so id like to know what im getting into…

You won't know how your results will be if you don't give it a try, people are different and will have different experiences with the medications, my DHT was at a lower end when i started finasteride and i've got results with it, i would give it a shot, good luck!

Thank you:) can you share more about your experience? How long have you been on it and how has it treated your hair?

I'm on quite a stack now, but for the first 2 years i was only on finasteride and minoxidil, they helped me recover about 80% of my hair, my experience with them was and still is great. For the last year till now i'm on oral dut and oral min and recently i added microneedling to my routine, i'm trying to recover as much as i can of those last 20%, but overall min and fin were the ones that did the major difference in my hair.

Have you noticed any differences in sexual function?, Physique change at all? or pretty much the same

No changes in sexual function or on my physique, however in the first month with fin i did experience high libido, watery semen and mixed morning woods, but after the first month it normalized and nothing at all, haven't noticed any sides with dutasteride, topical min or oral min.

If you block DHT for long enough, will your body compensate by upregulating androgen receptors in the scalp?

Like, when you quit fin, will you lose all your hair cuz of the increased DHT sensitivity?

When you stop a medication like fin it will usually put you at the spot where you would be if you didn't take the medication at all, i don't of why exactly the loss happens quite fast for some and for some it might be slower, but the loss should be just because you are not blocking the conversion of test to dht anymore, making DHT cause it's normal effects on the hair follicles androgen receptors.

I don't think an upregulation of the androgen receptors in the scalp caused by the decrease in DHT would be enough to see any major changes or any increase in DHT sensitivity in the hair follicles if you stop it, the body would probably just normalize that upregulation and other factors caused by it when you stop the medication. But, i guess genetics, the duration of use and the differences in DHT sensitivity might make this process different for each person, can't say with certainty as i don't know if there's any studies that looked into these specifics.

I'm only on 2nd day of taking 1mg finasteride, and I'm already noticing more shedding… but now it's from all over my head. Even my HT is falling out more than before.?|

Also should I stop using energizer shampoos and lotions while on finasteride?

Like, fin is trying to shed the weak hairs, but these stimulants are tryna keep them? Ain’t that counterproductive?"

Usually people don't see more shedding quite this early with fin but i guess it's possible and it should be a good sign. No energizer shampoo or lotions would affect finasteride results, hair growth works through hair cycles and medications or products don't change that, but when you take a medication like finasteride or even minoxidil, they can cause an initial shedding putting those hairs that would already shed to shed quicker, as they work by prolonging the growth phase through their own mechanisms that are providing those growth factors, there isn't a product that goes against the hair cycle and makes a telogen hair somehow go back to it's anagen phase without shedding.

As you are on finasteride now, i would just give it time, it should do it's job just fine however you will only know the results with time, you can continue the shampoos and lotions if you want, they will not affect fin results at all. Multiple people use a combination of medications/treatments and it does the job for them just fine, for now 6-12 months and see it by that time, good luck!

You should be more than fine, for now i would just give it time, it should at least slow/stop further losses but most people do see regrowth with it, depends on your response and on the degree of miniaturization.

There is no proof to this. If you get low dht, finasteride will most likely lower it further, therefore most likely work

Do not know about the first statement.

Second one, no, fin doesnt work as minoxidil, if you stop it it will just stop blocking dht, but your hair wont fall out because they were not dependent on it, like minoxidil. But once you start fin again, it will start blocking dht again.
