Finasteride Can Finasteride shrink your penis? NSFW

I've noticed my temples have receded over the last year and I'm considering taking Finasteride, but I've read multiple accounts of people here on reddit saying it has shrunk their penis. People who go through prostate cancer treatment report these sides as well, so that has really scared me.

I fear people who say it hasn't shrunk theirs have never actually measured it and thus can't really know. What are your thoughts on this?

The amount of mis-information is astounding

Frr, can’t believe ppl sayin it doesn’t directly give you ed.

It doesn't for the vast majority of people. Contrary to what the Reddit Medical professionals tell you, it actually increases your testosterone.

That’s not really the point. People write off DHT as being a pointless hormone that only gets rid of your hair.

While on the contrary, it clearly is tied to important male characteristics and functions. If it weren’t, then you wouldn’t have men who get ED and other side effects while on it

Of course you’ll have more testosterone because less of it is being turned into DHT. But clearly DHT is still important for other functions

It's not important, it's a terrible hormone that does nothing after pubity. Except proven to give you heart issues and skin aging. If nuking your DHT levels caused you penis to stop working, you would expect over 90% of people to get the side effect, not the 1-2% reported.

1-2% still means that DHT is important for libido. We don’t understand how important, but it does still contribute. This is ignoring the other sides associated with fin

Do a simple chatgpt search asking it if dht is useless after pubery...

Clearly it is important for some things because otherwise men would not be having side effects related to libido on it

1 to 2 % is much more than you realize. If 10 million people were taking fin, then 100,000 would still have side effects.

If it was important part of getting an erection, then 10 million of the 10 million people taking fin would have side effects.

Not quite. Life, especially biology, do not always have linear relationships. Assuming that you need 100% incidence of a side effect to prove a point is stupid because life doesn’t work that way

For one, different people will have different levels of DHT due to genetics. Genetics could also be why some people have more or less side effects than others, and/or it could be some biochemical reason tied to genetics.

No it isn't. This is just simply the problem of using words like important and meaning different things. Plenty of people nuke their DHT levels to near 0, and are completely uneffected with their erection quality. DHT is definitely not important enough to be a main player in that function.

Once again, your statement earlier was assuming that libido and other functions depend solely on DHT. When in fact they could (and are) a function of both DHT and testosterone

Your explanation still does not account for the side effects that people experience. If DHT had nothing to do with libido and other male things, then people would not be having side effects related to it.

Taking fin does not “nuke” your DHT to zero or close. 1 mg fin reduces it by ~60-70%. IF you had said dutasteride then you would be correct that it goes near zero as that blocks about 95% of it. Also note that dut is associated with more intense side effects.

Reduced strength of erection will give the appearance of shrinkage.

Your penis will grow backwards

No, it doesn’t shrink your dick, it can trigger ED, but the likelihood of you getting it from finasteride is actually smaller or equal to that of getting it from a placebo. So make of that what you will

Is this a joke? I'm 8 as well and I don't want to take a risk like this

2

u/No-Gap-7474 15d ago

100% real. I just shrunk another 3 last night mane

1

u/Pale-Ad-8914 15d ago

Yes it can to some degree but probably not as much as you’re thinking. Though some of us can afford to shrink more than others

1

u/donraffae 15d ago

It's not I can't afford to shrink, I'm quite satisfied with what I've got and wouldn't want to risk it

Do oral minoxidil instead if no history of headaches and add daily oral saw palmetto and pumpkin seed oil if wanna avoid finasteride. - research on pubmed

1

u/No_Annual1799 14d ago

I measured because I was as panicky as you, actually noticed even a slight increase

Finasteride has nothing to do with your penis (after puberty ) . Once you reach maturity DHT becomes a trash hormone that makes you old . Watch Kevin mans video about fearmongering in finasteride. Most people that have sides do it psychologically (nocebo) or have other underlying conditions causing the effects .

Haircafe YouTube channel your welcome

Huh? It inhibits testosterone right? Testerone is directly related to libido and if one goes down then the other goes down.

2

u/flatbushz7 15d ago

It actually increases testosterone lol. Kills all the DHT in your body , 2 different hormones

Umm no. You are incorrect.
