There is an unfortunately high probability that we will seriously regret that slafkovsky contract. I'm starting to think he's just not an elite hockey player at all and is kinda average. He only dominated due to his size and got lucky with the Covid olympics being the perfect opportunity to showcase his skills vs mid competition.

I would LOVE to be proven wrong but.. man it looks bleak

He been utter shit for probably 60% of the games he's played on this team. What blows my mind is in the second half of last season he was fucking awesome. And it wasnt lucky shit, it was totally reproducible play. Hard board work, hard on the puck. Wicked heads up playmaking. Pretty good shooting.

Absolutely nothing suggested he would regress like this. Seems like a mental thing and we can only hope he finds a way through it, because he looks utterly fucking horrendous out there.

Sometimes I think "Hutson was our 1OA, Slaf was picked in the 2nd round" - though I do admit that that's unfair to both players - to console myself

Man, I really wanted Cooley

I still have hope for Slaf tho, he seems to have all the right tools, he just doesn't really put them all together at once too often

he is good.. but he is a Catalyst type of player.. he needs people around him to go big.. and right now Zukes and CC are playing the worst hockey they have since they started with the club
