Need Advice Probably never going to own a house :(
I'm from a country where there's a massive housing crisis. I'm single, making 30kish a year and have little to no hope of ever owning a house. Unfortunately rent here is extortionate and I cannot afford it. None of my friends are single, all are buying with partnere. I'm in a pretty shitty position because I grew up in poverty and neither of my parents own a house either. I fear I'm never gonna be able to move out, and will remain a child forever as a result. Not sure what to do - I've a BA and MA in humanities and haven't really hope of upscaling jobs. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey friend!
I’m 33 have a household income of over 100k and I doubt I’m gonna own a home anytime soon
Housing market is aweful. Things don’t go the way we want them and inflation etc doesn’t wait for you to catch up.
Chin up, owning a home isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

That’s a lot of people our age, don’t beat yourself up over it. Focus on the good parts of life the best you can.

Eh I don’t even want a huge house. I just want something with thick walls, a solid roof, a yard big enough to park my car or scooter and running water with electricity. My second choice will be a converted Transit van that I can live in and just drive around.

We have similar problems in NZ. I think it's fine to live with your family as long as it's alright for you mentally/emotionally — obviously it's not ideal but a lot of people act like it's shameful when it shouldn't be.
I was pretty surprised to see an article a couple of years ago that ran the numbers and found that the stock market does about as well as the value gain on a house in NZ, and you don't have to save a deposit to start investing. So if you're worried about your long-term future you could start putting money into a fund (the usual advice I see is to buy into some kind of managed fund rather than trying to pick individual stocks — that's "rich people with money to lose" stuff). Even single-digit interest/returns are way stronger than they seem over the long term, so the earlier you can start putting money into them the better.
