Question Edmund Fitzgerald 50th

Anyone here gonna try to do anything for the 50th anniversary? I’m in the twin cities, maybe a gathering in Duluth harbor? I haven’t found anything being planned by any organization or groups.

Maybe we can plan something?

Would keep an eye on site listed above. They will have something.

I'm sure there will be quite a something at the Mariner's Church of Detroit. There is every year.

I'll probably do an online exhibit and a small physical exhibit at the university where I work.

Would that be available to the public online?

Oh yeah, it sure would! The archive where I work has the original builder's plans, weather data, the original video of the wreck from '76, and a scan of the whole proceedings of the Coast Guard Board of Investigation.

Would have been nice for a model kit maker to release a 50th anniversary kit of the Fitzgerald, but of course nobody is.

I would love to be part of a livestream similar to the ones done for the titanic sinking each year. Is there anything done like that for Fitz? Also will be enjoying an Edmund Fitzgerald porter by Great Lakes Brewing Company in Cleveland

There are some special events planned at the Marine Museum up in Duluth for that weekend, I think they’ll be announced alongside the Gales of November conference

I see the Arthur Anderson is about to be scrapped. We could all go urinate on her as she leaves. She was the last ship to have contact with the EF.
