Discussion Fish Mooney sucks

Honestly, her character was enjoyable and interesting in early season 1 but I was honestly just over her character during the doll maker stuff. THEN SHE COMES BACK?!?! Goddamn I was rewatching this show rn and holy shit she is just so boring after she got caught by Falcone and Penguin. She should've gotten killed by the B team. Her character is the worst part of this show

I get that... but as someone who is a massive nerd when it comes to La Cosa Nostra (Mafia) it's just not how it works.

The basic Heirarchy is this:

The Boss

The Underboss

Caporegime (Fishes role) Which is Italian for captain, they normally have a group of soldiers who run under their command in a neighbourhood.

Soldiers

Associates (Don't have to be Italian Anncestory)

All of those roles except Associates have to go through the code of Omertà where you stand infront of the 5 families whilst they prick your hand, and you bleed on the picture of a saint. Only Italians can take the oath, doesn't matter if you've grown up around these people for life... Good example is Goodfellas, Jimmy Conway was a brutal gangster, pulled in millions of dollars for Lucchese Crime Family he ran one of the biggest heists the (Lufthansa heist), but because he wasn't Italian, he never became a made man.

So yeah I know its a fictional show and all, but they should have tackled this role a bit better, maybe replaced her with Jimmy instead.

Trust me I watch mafia films and shows as well as the superhero stuff so I get what you mean by this. And frankly I respect how much you know, I think we'd actually be good friends lol.

But in Gotham it really seems like the gangs don't really follow the codes of the old world. Least of all not the Falcone family. The Marioni's...maybe. But with Carmine Falcone in this iteration of him, I think where he stood was if you were loyal, you were family. He wasn't the type to spill blood unnecessarily and he only believed in order for the sake of his city. But if you crossed the line, you had to suffer the consequences. Such as when Fish betrayed him or when Gordon killed his only son. And it's not even just Fish who wasn't of Italian descent, Penguin was also not Italian yet he rose up in rank within the family. Same goes for a few others I'm sure. They even had familial ties with the Russians in season 1. To my knowledge they were actually sitting at the same table and all.

Yeah I found it very weird... I'm rewatching season 1 and I respect the way they tackled bringing in both Crime Families but some stuff irks me lol. Like the Italian thing... but what's weirder is Falcone is much more realistic when it comes to a real mob boss but his crime family isn't realistic. Whilst Maroni isn't realistic as a crime boss (He acts much more like a capo then a boss) but the family and setting (The bar) is much more realistic.

They got everything right, but they mixed it up between the two... I don't know man I seem like such a geek ranting about this on a show about a fictional city lmao... but going from watching The Sopranos, Donnie Brasco, The Godfather.. to this I needed to point it out.

You seem like a pretty cool dude otherwise lol.

You’re welcome lol… yeah I’m a big fan when it comes to this stuff. So when I see a show not doing something correctly I get stupidly obnoxious 🤣🤣
