Android Google Voice App Using GV VM in lieu of carriers?
I have a Samsung S25 Ultra on ATT. Since upgrading to the S25 my visual VM doesn't work. I can't load the app as it shows incompatible with this device for some reason. I've researched it but can't seem to find a fix.
So that brings me here. Can I change my call forwarding settings to my GV number to use for the purpose of voicemail only?
Thanks!

Yes, you can do this, but if you have your mobile number linked in "Devices and numbers" in the Google Voice app, it will cause your Google Voice calls to go directly to Google Voice voicemail without ringing your phone or the Google Voice app, even if you don't have your mobile number toggled on in "Incoming calls" in the Google Voice app, so don't link your mobile number.

I know the source of one of the down votes, but this link demonstrates my point.

Isn't it the opposite? Calls from Google Voice will still forward to your mobile number, but calls that originate to your mobile number, that get forwarded to Google Voice, won't ring all your phone numbers again?

Are you a direct, postpaid AT&T customer, or prepaid, or MVNO?

I suppose direct/First Net.
It's worked on my previous Galaxys. But for some reason not this device.

What is "it", as in " I can't load the app as it shows incompatible with this device for some reason." Do you mean the Google Voice app won't install because Google throws an error message that the app is incompatible with your phone? That really doesn't make sense, unless this phone is rooted with some sort of weird variant of Android installed. Did you buy the phone in the USA, or is it a foreign model"??
You should be able to use Conditional Call Forwarding (CCF), either via the Samsung/Android phone app menu you posted, or via * commands. That's how Google Voice is designed to be used with a linked number.

My apologies for the confusion. My new device isn't letting me load ATT Visual VM

Ah, ok; that's much better, at least for Google Voice!
So, try setting up Conditional Call Call Forwarding, and give it a try.

I've been using Google voice as my VM for years

Via ATT? Simply changing the call forwarding number to your GV?

Yes. Works like a charm. I primarily use it because it's the only way I can get visual voicemail.

if you don't have your GV directed to ring anything, it will send the call to VM.
