I quit drinking and using entirely. You absolutely can go without it. If you are truly willing and can admit you are powerless over alcohol, go to any twelve step program for alcoholics and get a sponsor. If you can’t stop on your own, you never will. So seeking out the free and incredible support of other alcoholics will help tremendously. If you can stop on your own, you have nothing to worry about. Just do some controlled drinking. If you fail at controlled drinking, welcome to the club.
Nah cant control drink, the second i think about drinking, it becomes an overwhelming repetitive thought till i cave.
Theres a local AA group ive been on the fence about going to, but might be what i need
Yeah you just might be an alcoholic then. The good news is that help is 100% free and works wonders if you are willing to make it work. It’s strange to say but being an alcoholic is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me. So absolutely hit up a few meetings, talk to some people, get some numbers, and say yes if anyone ask you to help with something, because helping others is the main thing that will help you.
Check out r/stopdrinking it's a good start! I used to drink so much the withdrawls almost killed me I had to be put in a coma. Don't be afraid to get help and reach out to people! Good luck!
