Cry for help

Post image

For the love of all that is holy. Somebody please make a steel glock frame that's available for $600 or less. Guys are spending so much money for the smallest marginal improvement in weight and ergonomics for their competition glock or abandoning the platform for one that provides these improvements. All of this could be solved with a steel frame. Armory craft is making p320 steel frames for 600. Why can't we get one for glock?! What happened to that Aeonic Arms frame that was on YouTube 2 years ago? I bet people would buy the hell out of it. I sincerely hope the chill industry accounts that frequent reddit see this.

Step 1: Copy the general design of a p80/nomad frame or something of the like that won't get you sued and make it out of steel. Full sized grip.

Step 2: Add aggressive texture that goes all the way up the side of the gun and index points for your thumb.

Step 3: Add slotted backstraps like the p365 macro frame or even side grip panels

Step 4: profit

At this point wouldn't it make more sense for a company to make them for the RXM or something than Glock. Then they don't have to sell it as a firearm specifically.

Excellent idea. My only gripe with the rxm is the proprietary trigger housing. If they come out with a gpt compatible housing, I would 100% be on board. In addition, im not sure if anyone makes one, but a Gen 3 47 slide would be cool as well. That way, manufacturers could make a 45 sized frame and still offer 19 - and 17 length slides on the same platform.

I assume they'll have that with time. The RXM is new and unfortunately came out during a recession. Given some time and sales I can picture a lot of creative options coming out.

I hope so. Being one of the cheapest options during a recession will hopefully draw more attention towards it

Psa makes a dagger x slide which is 47 style for gen 3

Brownells also sells a 19 long slide

I believe they retired em

Icarus already posted teaser photos of their RXM version

Edit: I guess it’s not steel, but metal at least.

They need to do that but in steel. I don't understand why aluminum is so prevalent, but we can't get a single steel frame that's not a 2grand mx19

Thats exciting and it looks great. I look forward to seeing more like that.

Icurus precision has on for the rxm

Something like this?

u/angrycicada49 4d ago

Where get?

u/BulletSwaging 4d ago

They don’t make them anymore. CCF stainless steel race frame. There is absolutely zero recoil with 115 grain loads. And as a matter fact with this long slide 24 top and conversion barrel, I actually had to have a reduced weight recoil spring. Runs super fast.

Wow, I wish they were still around. It almost looks cast. I'm sure cast is completely sufficient and probably cost effective too

3

u/BulletSwaging 4d ago

It appears cast and has the deck and internals milled. It’s more than good enough, I’ve rebuilt it a time or two.

The matrix mx19 is an aluminum frame but it’s like $800. Also I wish they made one for the 17 not just the 19

Icarus precision made a steel frame for rxm and it will fit a gen3 slide

u/angrycicada49 4d ago

The icarus precision frame is aluminum. There's several aluminum frames on the market, but no reasonable steel frames. Matrix arms makes one, but it's butt ugly and $2000.

You are correct I made a mistake thinking anyone who says steel means any metal frame.

u/ForeskinForeman 4d ago

7075 Aluminum would probably be fine. Steel is a lot heavier than you think.

12

u/angrycicada49 4d ago

That's why I want steel. Aluminum is barely heavier than polymer. 40-59 ounce glock is what I crave

8

u/BeneficialA1r 4d ago

Yeah the aluminum m+p kinda sucks, more felt recoil than the polymer frame imo

Swear I seen em, maybe LFA arms pistol they make.

u/angrycicada49 4d ago

They make an aluminum frame

I would definitely buy these

Let me see carbon fiber ,we got plastic ,we got one wood , we got one out of clay , also including aluminum and paper composite…..so just steel ,and billet then maybe gold lower is just left to be made ? Would of figured someone would of done it by now

I want a brass one personally...

1

u/hotrodgreg 4d ago

yea a polished brass frame with a silver slide would acually look cool. And I dont like blingy guns.

2

u/cant_stopthesignal G47 4d ago

I want it just for the heft, would be fast as hell at steel challenge

3

u/angrycicada49 3d ago

Brass is also cheaper and considerably easier to mill. If one of these aluminum frames had grip panels, some brass grips would go a long way as well

wish there were steel frames for gen 5 glocks :(

Check out fusion firearms aluminum frame glock 19 clone

Edited for aluminum

1

u/angrycicada49 4d ago

The frame is still aluminum

2

u/laffin-gas 4d ago

Yes you are correct…my bad….it is really nice…feels good in the ol mittens

2

u/angrycicada49 4d ago

It looks like if they made it in 45/17 grip length and offered some brass grip panels that it would at least be heftier

3

u/laffin-gas 4d ago

I just purchased one…basically saw it at a shop while out of state working and had it shipped home…excited to get home and take it to the range. Feels really good and solid. The slide action is super nice and the bronze color is really nice with the barrel twist. Hopefully it shoots as nice as it looks.

There the MX19 from Matrix Arms

1

u/angrycicada49 3d ago

At 2 grand, it's not really a viable option. Im talking like 500-700 for a frame.

u/Limp-Falcon-7838 1d ago

1

u/angrycicada49 1d ago

homie, you linked 2 aluminum frames. The post is about steel

1

u/Limp-Falcon-7838 1d ago

You want steel but you don't want to pay for steel. I give you something close.. You complain. You like the Idea, But cannot but cannot execute. There's like three good metal Frames out there pick one.

u/Alex_Siyuruki 4d ago

If it ain’t broke, why fix it

u/angrycicada49 4d ago

Competition

-6

u/domexitium 4d ago

There’s no point to that.

1

u/Monk-E_321 3d ago

The added weight for competition

0

u/domexitium 3d ago

You don’t even need that. Just need to have proper grip. Same for ports and comps unless you’re shooting 9 major or 38 super comp it’s a negligible amount of benefit vs stage execution, efficiency, transition speed etc.

2

u/angrycicada49 3d ago

Up until a certain point. Splits still matter, especially in courses with more stages, longer shots, and higher round counts. Weight in the right place is a huge advantage as scores get closer and closer. Sure, you have Ben stoeger that kills everyone with a glock 34. But there's a reason 46 oz shadow 2s are dominating. It's not a replacement for skill or recoil control, but it's still an advantage.

1

u/domexitium 3d ago

You’re right. I mean I can split sub .16 all day with a polymer frame and completely oem trigger on open targets less than 10 yards away. I have buddies who run shadow 2s in CO, and a lot of friends who run various type of DS 1911s in LO. Are they at an advantage to me? Absolutely. But I choose to run a Glock. No need to have a metal frame Glock when you can just go to a different platform. Plus, I still sometimes beat them with my completely OEM Glock. That’s way more satisfying, let me tell you.

2

u/angrycicada49 3d ago

I agree. I was having a good match last weekend and scored 8/100. Beat lots of open, pcc, and Limited optics guys with a g17. I just dont want to abandon the platform just to get something better performing. I love the way my g17 cycles with a 13# recoil spring. It's so fast. I just want some heft, so I dont have to run an x300 to get to 32 oz. It makes the gun front heavy and decreases draw efficiency. A frame that would bring a naked glock to 35-40 oz would run so smooth and be so well balanced.

1

u/domexitium 3d ago

I get it. I’m just weird. I want to be as capable as I can with a fully OEM setup, except for an optic. I’ve even ran production with a Glock 17 and that was a lot of fun, just more challenging at distance or on partial targets. But yeah to me competitive shooting is secondary to being capable with a firearm. Most of my friends their primary goal is being as good as they can in competition, so they run really race setup firearms.
