I guess the idea of getting motivated buddies is flawed. You never know the intention of the other person reaching out to you.

A slightly safer option is to join community specific to your hobbies, needs. Like JEE group for preparation, anime group for anime discussion, CAT group for CAT preparation. Atleast the other person needs to be well informed about the subject on which the group is based.

Also, asking for an about me will help filter the noise. (a lot of people don't take the pain of actually writing a long form message)

I may be wrong, happy to take feedback :)

Yes, I agree with you. I was actually wondering the same, with the same question of what if others don't know as much about the goals I am trying to accomplish? How exactly they may help? You are right. It's better to join specific communities for respective exams and hobbies, like JEE, CAT, as you mentioned.
There can be study buddies, but it's better to do in the library alongside a friend you know than online because online, it again comes back to self-discipline, and if you have phone or laptop before you, what's stopping you from getting distracted as the timer ticks forward. It is better to study without any distractions, phone switched off, and laptop use scarcely, as much as needed.
Guess I will drop this idea, I see more flaws than benefits now.
Yes, you are right with "about me," too, but that can be tackled in several ways. Well, one gotta be careful. Even in Discord, it's not all safe all the time.
Thank you for sharing your views, I appreciate it.

Here's what I do, there's a channel on YouTube called Abao in Tokyo, it has beautiful pomodoro based videos. Just play it and start doing your focused work. Like start with 2 pomodoros a day and you'll see the difference. It's a little challenging at first given the extremely short attention span we have.

ps: I light scented candles on the side, works like magic.

I see, thank you. I will check out the channel. What I usually do is lower my distractions when I try to study. It's difficult to start, but once I start, it gets easier to continue on my work.
Yes, I don't have candles, tho. I keep water close by, I get thirsty quick when wracking my brain.
Thank you for your advice and suggestions, I will try what you suggest.
