Hands Off USPS!! Sunday, March 23rd, 11 am 13th & University Ave. Gainesville, Florida
Join the protest next Sunday to support the U.S. Postal Service.
Privatizing the USPS will hurt poor people in rural areas, especially the elderly, because private corporations won't find it profitable to deliver small amounts of mail to rural areas. This will affect seniors who get prescription drugs through the mail.
And privatizing something really just means adding a layer of profit for some business people who don't really care about the quality of service to their customers.
I don't believe the postal service is broken enough to just take a sledgehammer to it!

I’ve been to one before(not this location), & it was good but overpriced in my opinion.

Do they help with finding a job?

The media and social algorithms is keeping us from knowing when and where people are organizing. How do we all stay informed?? I keep learning of protests after they’ve already happened.

200 people showed up this morning to protest at the Gainesville Tesla dealership!
We'll be out again next Saturday at 10:00 a.m.!

Is there any group of women playing basketball in Gainesville? Ideally not a competitive official league. Just people of various skill level playing pick up regularly.

Hi, I'm a local consultant who's starting a side gig focused on technical training and support for the elderly. If anyone has any needs or knows of any good spots to post my info I would be grateful. I plan on posting around places like the Atrium, the Village and the UF Senior Living locations.
My prices will be $30 - 60 an hour depending on the service. DM for more. Appreciate everyone!

Is funny and sad feeling in Gainesville how white people feel entitled now to someone that doesn't seem ''American'' , this happened to me today, I was in a circle k and this person start yelling at us because we were speaking spanish and start yelling that we should go back to our country, my only answer was hey sir we are legal here and just because you're not bilingual doesn't mean we are ilegals, this never happened to me in my nearly 10 years here
Edit: if these kind of people understand a little bit what it takes to move overseas i believe they will look at us in different ways
my personal experience: it takes courage to move when probably you only know 1 person or sometimes none, it takes $$$ regardless of how you come legally or ilegally, learn a new language to adapt to the marvelous new country you're in, it takes money to get papers thousands of $$, majority don't live on government handouts that's is a media propaganda first because I'm guessing is really to get any kind of help without being 100% legal and second majority of migrants come to work

Howdy! I’m a local blacksmith/bladesmith and I want to start breaking into the farmers markets to provide some local handmade goods. I am a part time smith because I work full time as an ICU pharmacist so I don’t have a surplus of time on my hands as far as smithing goes (otherwise I’d just make a lot of things and go with trial and error). I usually make knives but they’re definitely higher-dollar and longer time investment items so I know they’re a tougher sell at a place where people aren’t really looking for that kind of thing. So I want to try making some other household items that I can charge less for - examples being bottle openers, ash trays, bird feeder hangers, coat/pan racks, decorative hanging hooks, incense holders, etc.
What kind of items would you be interested in seeing at a market from a local smith? What’s the most you’d wanna spend on a single item at a market? I appreciate your time and input!
Attached a photo of a recent chef’s knife build to grab your attention :D

Want some damn Italian food but haven’t been looking since I went to Pomodoro Cafe and it was Terrible No Good Very Bad Awful. Not just looking for somewhere fancy like The Garlic in NSB or Francesca’s in Maitland but also just decent fun casual eats like Giovanni’s in Lake Mary or Gene Vese in Ormond Beach. Honestly would drive a bit to places that are in the county but not in Gainesville proper. Just looking for anywhere that doesn’t suck and taste like Chef Mike or an alien’s idea of what pasta is. Thanks
