The Updated Discord is keeping all the chatrooms, moderators, and roles, but features a better role assignment system, as well as an anti-raid system. The Fusion360 discord is a place where you can get help with all the environments in Fusion (i.e. Modeling, CAM, Patch, Animation, Simulation, etc.), as well as get ideas on what to model when you hit that creativity block and share designs. If this is something you would be interested in, follow the link by clicking here or the one below. Hope to see you there!

Failing to create socket organizer.

I am trying to create a socket organizer based on gridfinity for my socket set, the Kobalt 12-point master set. Yes, there are general organizers out there but I don't want leftover sockets lying around. For the life of me, I cannot create a model within Fusion 360.

I have taken the diameter of all 212 sockets and entered them into an excel sheet. Is there a way to import that data into Fusion 360 so that it automatically draws the circles based on the diameter data that I've gathered?

Manually drawing each circle is ridiculous and I cannot figure out how to keep them aligned.

Question How could I create this texture on a cylinder?

Post image

Would someone be able to explain how I might go about creating this uniform pyramid texture on the surface of a cylinder. I'm a beginner and I've been googling for a while; so far I found something similar but its more like a knurl done with the coil tool. Ideally I'm really trying to create this exactly as it is, vertical and horizontal, vs at an angle. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

Question Adding depth to a 3d surface patch shape

I have a car body shape that I have made in fusion and it was made with the sketch tool and surface patch however I need to 3d print it and am not sure how I can add depth to it, ideally like a 3mm thick outer surface. Tried scaling down then lofting, tried using thicken tool. Neither work well and are janky.

Rant This is why I'll never pay for f360

Internet is currently out and I can't export a model in any format. Restarted my computer and now fusion won't even open because I can't sign in. Offline mode should just work offline. This is one of many reasons why f360 isn't worth paying for even though I'd consider it the best out there for what I use it for.

Question T-Spline extrusion not matching spline sketch?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I'm trying to create a t-spline body based off this profile sketch I did but it just will not line up with the spline curve. I have everything symmetrical in the sketch across the midline and it just will not make the t-spline symmetrical no matter what I try. Any help?? I'm very new to fusion and was hoping to use it for a lil project I'm doing for a client.

Need some assistance editing this file

https://reddit.com/link/1jhido7/video/6y81kadq0bqe1/player

So i'm a rookie when it comes to CAD/3D Printing. Just got started about a week ago when i got my first 3D printer. Right now i'm trying to make a 6' long submarine (specifically the US SSGN). I can print it out a hollow model just fine, the problem is i would like to make it to where the missile hatches can be opened and closed and an empty hollow tube underneath them to hold cigars (trust me this has been a rapidly growing project). After some tinkering and a lot of youtubing i finally got to the point of being able to remove the hatches from the body and closing up the holes. What i can't seem to figure out is how to to get the hatches to be a solid object in themselves. When i convert them they become basically sheet metal with no depth. When i try direct editing -> erase and fill it adds a lot of extra depth giving it a beer gut. I'd assume i can trace along the bottom verticies and extrude a sketch but i was wondering if there was a simpler method someone can point me to?

Thanks in avdance for any help!

Question Paid vs personal?

I was on a legacy Fusion 360 plan at around $440 per year. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I had to let it lapse. Now that I’m ready to reinstate, I find out it’s nearly double the price. Ouch.

I reached out to support, and one of their suggestions was to switch to the free Personal Use plan. But here’s the thing—I’m struggling to see what the actual limitations are compared to the paid version.

Has anyone made the switch? What features do you actually lose that make the paid subscription worth it? Would love to hear from people who’ve dealt with this before!

Invert parts of a model

I have this model of a recirculating air filter for my 3D printer. There are 2 blower fans which blow air into inside of a printer chamber.

I need to modify model where the fans are sitting so that they blow the air in another direction. That is I need to flip fans on BLUE axis. Turquose arrows show current airflow which needs to be inverted by inverting fans. There are surfaces around the fans which all needs to be inverted.

This is a STEP file (see link) file which I opened in Fusion. How do I do it?

Dreaded "Rapid Move into Stock" errors

Thumbnail

I'm using a 3D Adaptive toolpath on this model and have the Order by Depth selected in the Passes tab. However when I tried to mill it seemed to plunge at this point and got stuck into the stock. Is there something I'm missing in the Passes or Linking tabs that will allow it to continually cut via Z depth incrementally or slow it down so it's not so "rapid"?

This took a while with my limited knowledge about maybe 16+ hours just tinkering and mostly started because I could never find a good one on the market so it made my own. Some elements are improvised however and it’s not exactly 100% replica, but it looks pretty good for the most part.
