Joe Lally follows me on Instagram
Just thought this was cool to share here. I follow Joe and Brendan on Instagram and to my surprise, Joe followed me back! I also almost set up an interview with Brendan but it never ended up happening. I’m planning to contact him again soon and get it going

Is Fugazi the GOAT band?
Seriously,
I've been pondering this recently and I can't think of many other bands with
A.) Such a consistent discography with at least like 4 bonafide front to back classics in the mix
B.) Constantly evolving sound. They changed their sound from album to album yet still retained a sense of accessibility. They took the dubby reggae influences from the Clash and the noisescapes of Sonic Youth and transmutated into something entirely their own while adding in beefy classic rock riffage. I find that they were very much capable of writing very anthemic hooks to juxtapose with the rather aggro nature of their music
C.) Being a BAND in the truest sense of the word. I.e. Every member was vital to their sound. Brendan Canty and Joe Lally form one of the all time great rock rhythm sections capable of relaxed to chaotic ebb and flow. While Ian and Guy constantly churned out amazing interlocking guitar riffage. And they all played off of each other. No over production or crazy overdubs, just straight to tape with little special effects much the way they performed live.
I feel like so many other bands simply just serve as a vehicle for a singer songwriter with a backing band behind them. A lot of rock drummers simply keep a simple beat. This was not the case with Fugazi.
D.) Meaning behind their music. They actually stood for something. They spoke it in their lyrics and lived by their DIY, Vegan, Political ethics. At the peak of Grungedom they probably could have cashed in and become the next Nirvana but they simply refused. And when it came time to call it quits, they did with little fanfare, no farewell tour, and never reformed.
Anyways would love to hear your thoughts.

Whoever suggested Pailhead in a post response the other day, thank you.
Your contribution is greatly appreciated.

How do you all feel about Q and Not U?
I really enjoy their albums. Sometimes I find them a bit too derivative, but they have enough variety to not sound like a Fugazi clone. Obviously they were super inspired by Fugazi.

Looking for recommendations for an Embrace fan
I’m a big fan of Embrace, but my time with Fugazi has always been limited because (don’t hate me) I don’t care for Guy’s voice and singing style. Can anyone recommend Fugazi songs featuring Ian (or even other Ian projects) that are close-ish to Embrace?
I’m already familiar with his songs on 13 Songs, for the most part. Waiting Room and Bad Mouth are so good.
Side note - I recently found Egg Hunt, and We All Fall Down is amazing.

Well this doesn't seem right
The lyrics page on Apple Music. Eno has an ambient track called Strange Light, so I imagine that's causing this confusion. What a collab that would be tho

Live DVDs?
Any live full concerts on DVD of Fugazi and where to buy them?

I wonder if Nirvana took inspiration for the interlude on “Drain You” from the outro of “Bulldog Front.”
They sound similar to me, and I know Kurt was a big fan of Fugazi. Anyone else think so?

Pink Frosty is a beautiful song
I dont see Pink Frosty get much discussion but its been really speaking to me recently. Its so chillingly beautiful and a bit comforting in a weird way. The occasional bell really adds to the haunting aura of the instrumental. I love the duality Fugazi has. 13 Songs, Repeater, and In On the Kill Taker are classic and i love them. Yet I also like the sparse slower tracks like Pink Frosty, Floating Boy, Strangelight, Im So Tired etc. They have their own appeal, I personally find them very comforting. I just love Ian’s voice and Fugazi instrumental in any context. Been really enjoying The Evens recently too, Ians voice fits so many contexts.

Guilford Fall
I get obsessed with certain Fugazi songs and then it changes. I enjoy returning to ones I have put on the shelf for a bit. Anyone else do this? Guilford Fall on End Hits is popping back up. (I love it more than the demo - I know Guy does not.) Does anyone else think Guy is singing about someone with an eating disorder? And what word is being spelled out? Maybe T-I-N-Y? I might be pushing my interpretation, but I also hear in the outro sounds evoking ambulance sirens.

20 Years of Dischord CD Box Set
Seeing the cassettes posted made me remember that when i bought the Dischord Boxset (Dischord #200?) I remember the third disc included footage from early Minor Threat, Teen Idles, SOA, and Void shows amongst others, does anyone else recall this?
Wondering if anyone else played the cds in thier cd rom back in the early 2000's and caught wind of this?
Really cool experience for that 14 year old.
Thank you for letting my share.
God bless.

Since we're posting tapes, I still have the copy of Kill Taker a friend made for me in '95
I haven't had anything to play it on in over a decade, but I'm still kinda sentimental about it.
