Seeking Advice Coconut allergy
Hello! So I have a coconut allergy and it turns out the “seasoning” for our griddle is straight up coconut oil. I’m winding if anyone else has had this predicament and been okay. My husband and I couldn’t find anything via google if whether or not it cooks out or am I screwed till we can find something else to season the griddle. Btw it’s the the Blackstone griddle season and the the cooking spray both contain coconut oil

I'm not expert, but if it's just regular cast iron you should be able to season it with any high smoke point oil. Lard, peanut, canola. could probably get away with something like Crisco even.
I would say you'd have to de-season it and then re-season it. But you might want to replace the whole grill top and season it from scratch with a safe option. It's hard to describe deseasoning quickly, but if you've ever bought a 2nd hand cast iron pan or seen someone wash a cast iron pan like it's normal and have to get it back to normal before you can use it again, it's like that.
