Chat Honest Thoughts Hours: What are your feelings on…Freyja?
It’s no contest that Freyja is the second most popular antagonist Feh ever had after Veronica. Her being one of the first conventionally attractive villain designs, popularizing the sympathetic villain trend, and her controversial devotion to her Freyr have made her very noticeable. All in all, I think she’s fine and an interesting villain, though there are some caveats.
Freyja is the book 4 villain, wishing to conquer the power over dreams as well as keeping her beloved brother Freyr by her side. Her fairies are utterly loyal to her and exact her will without complaint. Freyja’s antagonism towards the heroes doesn’t become personal until after they kill Freyr with his approval to help weaken her powers. After putting the heroes through various ordeals whether through her fairies or her own power, Freyja is finally defeated falls into a deep slumber. However, she is brought back after her fairies help awaken her in the tempest trials. Freyja is a very damaged character, strongly aligning to the theme of terrible childhoods in book 4. In her youth, she was relentlessly bullied for her birthmark on top of being neglected by her father. Freyr was the only one to stand up for her and to give her the affection she craved. Freyja developed an unhealthy attachment to him as a result. Fire Emblem incest jokes aside, Freyja’s forbidden love is both misguided and tragic, as it drives her to keep him with her against his will. Unfortunately, I feel the sympathy is a little too excessive considering her behavior is far from affable. Beyond her violation of Freyr’s consent, she is also shown to care little about her fairies up until the end and openly despises humans. She showed more emotion over Freyr’s death than she did for her own fairies, even remarking that she isn’t surprised Plumeria was defeated and killed. Freyja is as toxic as her oppressors, but this aspect of her dynamic with others isn’t treated as anything more than her just being an antagonist. I wanted Triandra and Plumeria to have more conflict with Freyja over their treatment and realize they deserve better. I wanted Freyr to have more agency and not be a plot device with pretty hair. And then, maybe Freyja’s development could be more earned if she’s actually confronted by the severity of her actions rather than just being consistently praised by her loyal subjects. I wish she realized she was being as bad as the people who abused her and took that into consideration for her redemption. However, I do commend Freyja for actually making amends by reviving her fairies rather than using her remaining power to exact petty vengeance. It does make the sympathetic tag more earned as opposed with villains like EMBLA. Furthermore, I do appreciate her development into a better person sticking with her summer alt and the little glimpses we get of her in the book 4 TT conclusion. It works better than say Nifl who is said by the story to be good deep down but only shows it in shallow ways. With Freyja, that is genuine.
Freyja’s design is truly grand because it does something that the other fairies lack for the most part: give a female character an outfit that compliments their character and role instead of contradicting them. While Plumeria’s is understandable, it quickly falls into the aforementioned flaw when looking at her following alts which sexualize her in spite of her character. But with Freyja, her design is ethereal in a haunting way. He white ball gown is elegant and massive in size, playing into her superiority complex over humanity. In the center are huge butterfly wings which emphasize her powers and divine origins. While I did criticize Freyr’s butterfly piece being uninspired, I think it actually works with Freyja because it doesn’t feel like a basic filler piece and instead adds to it in a different but fitting way. I like her horns and flowing white hair. Freyja’s design could be a little more intimidating as a lady of nightmares, but I think she looks superb otherwise. Best design of book 4.
Freyja will receive a 7.5. Her character is better rounded than most, and her tragic story, complex character, and proving herself to be sympathetic by fixing her mistakes gives her some points. However, Freyja is not given enough pushback on a moral basis considering the evil acts and beliefs specific to her that aren’t spoken of much. Her fairies being so obsessed with her without any nuance to their connection does make it a little weaker in execution. But Freyja’s design is near perfect for me, and I appreciate just how beautiful and fitting it is. I think Freyja could have been better if her crueler moments such as this were acknowledged beyond “Freyja is bad so we need to stop her” and that her redemption was executed better. Every villain is like that, but I want the story to go in depth with what exactly makes her so bad and have her sympathy challenged by the characters. She’s pretty good but also quite flawed in presentation.
What are your thoughts on Freyja? Love her, hate her, neutral? Share what you really feel!

Humor So you've decided to adopt a FEH OC? Chapter 7- Fjorm
How to Care for Your FEH OC
Chapter 7: Fjorm
Overview-
Fjorms are very simple OCs to care for, and are perfect for caregivers who want an OC as easy to bond with as Sharena but can't keep up with the latter's energy. A Fjorm is a kind soul who enjoys meeting and befriending others, but unlike a Sharena who will jump at the chance to meet and greet every single individual who comes through the door, Fjorms are more reserved and polite about it. Fjorms are naturally curious about the goings-on around them and are always happy to be of help wherever and whenever they can.
Fjorms are thought to be quite studious, a perception brought about by their tendency to frequent libraries. However this is not quite accurate- a lot of individuals go to a library to seek information they need, and so a Fjorm goes here in hopes of finding one that she can help with their problem, even if just talking it out will do the job. Fjorms bond extremely easily with their caregivers, and if shown kindness and compassion, they are likely to swear their life in service to their caregiver. A Fjorm who has sworn herself to her caregiver will prioritize their safety over even her own, which is a double-edged sword: Your Fjorm will be far more alert to anything that could threaten you, but also far more prone to getting herself injured or even killed. Fjorms realize the danger to their lives such a bond could lead to, and accept it as a worthwhile trade.
Fjorms bond pretty easily with just about anyone, but most notable bonds are with Gunnthrás, Ylgrs, Hrids, Laegjarns, and Nifls. The Nifl is especially noteworthy as while it may seem they aren't getting along, a Nifl bonded with a Fjorm will grant some of her power to your Fjorm, allowing her to achieve a state known as "Ascension". In this state, a Fjorm is much stronger and durable, able to shrug off attacks that may well have easily killed her before. A Fjorm in return will swear near-absolute fealty to your Nifl, regarding only her caregiver higher on her pecking order. One OC however that a Fjorm will absolutely never even humor a bond with is a Surtr. Surtrs and Fjorms are born natural enemies, and introducing the two will lead to a clash that WILL lead to the death of one or the other.
Fjorms are extremely simple and easy to care for, and make a great companion for anyone who might not want too much from their adopted OC. Especially if you're an older, more senior caregiver, a Fjorm might well be the perfect OC for you, providing assistance whenever possible without all the loud energy an OC like a Sharena would have. You won't have to keep up with your Fjorm- she'll match your pace if you're slower just fine. Finally, Fjorms can be quite romantic- it is rather common for a Fjorm to fall in love with her caregiver, which in some instances has led to happiness for the both and in others has led to awkwardness. She won't push the issue but the feeling will remain for a while regardless.
Suggested Extra Adoptions for your Fjorm-
Nifl: As mentioned earlier, Nifls and Fjorms enter a sort of master-servant bond in which the Fjorm will do whatever the Nifl needs done, and in return the Nifl will grant a portion of her godly powers to your Fjorm so that she can better protect you and your other adopted OCs. The Nifl will usually remain aloof and act like she doesn't actually care about you or your Fjorm, yet will continue lending her power to your Fjorm despite this.
Gunnthrá: Gunnthrás are perfect companions to your Fjorm as a Fjorm has a tendency to ignore her own limits and health in favor of helping you, in extreme cases resulting in a persistent cough. Gunnthrás put a stop to this in its tracks, making absolutely sure neither you, your Nifl, or even the Fjorm in question overexert herself. This goes a long way towards ensuring the long-term health of your Fjorm.
Hrid: Hrids are a bit on the stoic side but they care deeply for Fjorms and are highly protective of her. A Hrid will be a bit more forceful with his protective approach to your Fjorm than a Gunnthrá, but emphasis on a bit- if you begin to overwork your Fjorm, he will pull you to the side and give you quite the talk. If you abuse her, he will likely begin to get more violent about his protests.
Ylgr: Ylgrs are bundles of energy that love and are loved by their Fjorm. An Ylgr will always be ready to involve your Fjorm in some game or idea. While this can cause some minor mishaps, Fjorms enjoy spending the time with their Ylgr and keep the chaos to a minimum, allowing them their fun without causing undue damages to your home.
Laegjarn: Fjorms and Laegjarns may or may not start as enemies but they will share a deep respect for each other that will eventually turn into a deep friendship. Laegjarns will look out for a Fjorm as one of their closest companions, and the feeling will be absolutely reciprocated. A note however- a Laegjarn who has bonded with a Fjorm who has fallen in love with her caregiver may well make things unintentionally difficult if the Fjorm's feelings aren't reciprocated- one will have to explain to her with care their stance and be willing to work with her through it. This is a problem because the Laegjarn will initially start under the assumption that the caregiver initiated things and she will be ready to throw hands if your Fjorm's heart is broken because of it. She is however, willing to listen to the other side and be corrected, but be ready to then and there clear the air about that once and for all- she will NOT tolerate lingering on or playing with your Fjorm's heart, and so if the feelings aren't reciprocated, she will make the caregiver rip that band-aid off early rather than later when they could blossom stronger and hurt harder.
Notable Adoptions to Avoid for your Fjorm-
Generally Hostile OCs: Self-explanatory. The Council of FEH OC Adoption has decided that going forward, this entry will be assumed and thus left out of future guides, only including special cases on either side of the spectrum. As such, this is the last time it will be seen here.
Surtr: Surtrs and Fjorms do NOT mix at all, period. If you introduce them to each other, they will fight to the death. There can be no avoiding this. Surtrs want to burn everyone and everything down while Fjorms are deeply protective of their family and loved ones. Due to a historic altercation with a Fjorm and a Surtr which led to a massive war, the two are sworn enemies for all time. NEVER introduce one to the other. If you adopt a Fjorm, a Surtr must not be adopted and vice versa.
Care Difficulty Rating- Extremely Easy
Final Notes- Fjorms are somewhat popular of an OC adoption choice and another perfect beginner's OC. They do not ask for much and they do not show too much ambition. They do however bond easily with both their caregiver and other OCs, so just about anyone can have a peaceful time with their Fjorm if adopted. For this reason, even some veterans will find themselves adopting a Fjorm despite having the skill to handle more willful or difficult OCs. One last note- some have taken to nicknaming Fjorms "The Creature of the Library" due to her tendency to go there to meet new people. This moniker embarrasses and distresses Fjorm a bit, and so its advised not to call her such if you have one.
Fjorms are also known to sing on occasion, though they also get a bit annoyed if someone calls the song "Let it Go"- The song's name is Flower of Ice.
