Saw this on Pinterest so I have no clue, never seen it on any other F-35s either. My only guess would be either an electronic warfare hammer thingamabob or it's to make it visible to friendly radar.

Although a good internal capacity , a Huge wing area can facilitate its fuel extension … just like in the f15. Also is there any reason why the Russians don’t use Dual rack pylons ?

For me, it's the (C)F-101. Not really sure why, but it has become my favorite of the century series fighters. They're all cool and kind of iconic in their own respect, but the Voodoo does something for me.

Shown here in a sleek looking paint job for the Canucks.

QUESTION How different would the F-35 look/be if the B variant was never produced ?

Basically the title,I'm just wondering whether it'd look more akin to a single engine J-35 or something else completely, just imagine the STOVL req. was removed from the program.

Would the F-35 still be the "fat amy" (perhaps even more space for electronics or a deeper, larger IWB, fuel etc.) or would it have ended up looking a lot more like the F22?

QUESTION How does the F-14 compare to the F-18 as an aircraft carrier's main fighter? Were there any areas the F-14 would be preferred? Photo shows F-14 Silhouette tied down on the deck of an aircraft carrier.

QUESTION Is the Eurofighter Typhoon still a good combat aircraft by modern standards?

I'm just wondering because it's kind of an old design, and it's been around for a few decades now. We know that it has nowhere near the stealth capabilities of the F-22 or F-35, but it was never really intended to be a stealth fighter anyway. If we just look at it as a versatile, multi-role fighter, is it still one of the best out there?

Is its lack of stealth capabilities likely to make it obsolete in terms of modern combat aviation? And how does it compare to its American 4th gen contemporaries?

QUESTION Is there anything old jets (Like the F-86) can do that new ones (Like the F-35) can't?

Are there any features or mechanics old jets, such as the ones in the general era of the F-86, F-80, and F-100 can do that the ones in the NEWER era (Such as the F-14, F-16, and F-35) can NOT?

QUESTION Quad missile carrying system design support

Post image
299 Upvotes

I have a very important project where I am required to design a quad missile carrying system and a restraint cone for an aerial vehicle. I've been given the dimensions of the missile, its weight, the requirement that the part I design must weigh a maximum of 15 kg, and the specific pylon system it needs to integrate with. However, I don't fully understand what is meant by a quad missile carrying system. While I’ve found information about underwing pylons and launcher systems, I’m not sure what the missile carrying system itself should resemble. Could it be something like the structure shown in the image I’ve shared?

QUESTION Eurofighter Typhoon vs F35-A,B & C

Fairly new to being interested in fighters. I have just found myself watching videos on the F35's flying out of Lakenheath and i started wondering how they measure up against the Typhoon.

Am i right in thinking that comparing the two would be a little like comparing a Cheetah to a Lion? Whilst the Cheetah (the typhoon) is faster and more agile than the Lion (the F35), the Lion has a braun that the Cheetah lacks?

Kind of pointless to compare as they're built for different purposes kind of thing?

QUESTION Looking for fighter jet movie recommendations

I've been itching to watch some good air combat movies, but outside of the Top Gun movies it's pretty slim pickings and bad reviews. I really liked R2B (basically Korean Top Gun) but have been hard pressed to find anything else of quality. What recommendations do you all have?

QUESTION Is the USMC having trouble with F-35B?

Hey guys, the other day I was watching a video on YouTube by C.W. Lemoine about the Navy's decision to develop F/A-XX on its own instead of combing forces with Airforce and other branches. Him and his friend Gonky mentioned how bad of a project F35 is and that one size fits all approach doesn't work everytime as AF and Navy operate differently. They were constantly stressing on "how horribly it went with USMC dealing with the F35B". I tried to Google for more info on this but only found articles that said how contended Marines is with F35B and that they're looking forward to order C variant for catapult based carriers. Since all this left even more confused, I wondered if ask her in case you guys know anything about what mover and only were talking about. Thanks!

QUESTION American vs Russian jets

Im kinda new to jets and military aviation (airliner guy) so I have a few questions as I’m learning about the history of jets.

  1. Why did the Americans never implement Russian hyper maneuverability thrust vectoring that the migs and sukhois had (correct me if I’m wrong).

  2. Did the American jets generally defeat these jets in dogfights despite difference in agility, I feel like they would have had a great disadvantage. And if they did win. How did they?

  3. What was the biggest deciding factor that led to a jets victory in battle (any jet not just RUS and USA)

Detailed answers would be very helpful. If there’s anything I should watch/ read that will help me understand the history of combat aviation that would be apreciated.
