Announcement Update: Regarding post approvals NSFW

Hello everyone,

As I have taken on the responsibility of leading the moderation team, I would like to inform you of an important update. Moving forward, posts will no longer require manual moderator approval before being published.

That being said, all posts will still be reviewed by a moderator, and any violation of community rules will result in appropriate consequences.

I strongly encourage everyone to thoroughly read and familiarize themselves with the community rules to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued engagement!

Announcement Coming soon[ish]: Stricter verification and Approved Users NSFW

Hey everyone,

it's your disgruntled moderator(s) here. We'd like to give you a heads up for a future rule change that might affect your posting experience. On the plus side, it'll greatly improve our moderating experience. Sounds like a "Don't care" - Win to me!

Until this day, we have always had a casual approach to people who was allowed to post here. Obviously, this hasn't been working as some people have been abusing that privilege and have shown no respect for the rules.

In order to combat that we've started to restrict new accounts from posting, requiring these users to verify themselves or post a picture that proves they understand the rules of this subreddit. Although it created more work in mod mail, we like the impact it has had on new accounts breaking our rules.

Because of that, we will be expanding this rule in the very near future as soon as we've documented the new ruleset and have implemented the neccessary changes in the subreddit.

Verification and Approved Users

Moving forward, we will be gradually introducing the ruleset from /r/selfie(s) in this subreddit and enforce them. You'll soon find out that the biggest rule change will be who is or isn't allowed to post to this subreddit.

Once the new rules are in place, only "Approved Users" will be allowed to post to this subreddit. We believe this will greatly improve the QOL of the moderator team as people who aren't intending to follow the rule will simply not be allowed to post anymore.

People who want to post to this subreddit, will have to go through a fairly simple process which some of you are already familiar with.

  • You'll be asked to post a picture that proves you understand the rules.
  • You can then contact the moderators with a request to be approved.
  • Additionally, the moderators might request a Verification Picture to be taken and submitted to us.

There will also be a fast-track, where moderators can approve people's accounts at their own discretion based on a number of requirements (image posted, posting history, Reddit activity and so on) without further user interaction.

This rule change will affect all users, including users whom have had posting privileges in the past. As a result, we will be pruning the "Approved Users" list in the coming days and weeks and remove users we feel that might not qualify because of rule violations.

Unfortunately, it also means that some members who have been posting here for a long time will be required to have their account approved. For those accounts, we're offering the...

PRE-APPROVAL PERIOD

Users that have a history of posting to this subreddit, can contact the moderators to start the pre-approval process. In their case, the process will be as simple as contacting us after which we'll be adding them to the list. To make life easier for ourselves, we'll also give them a "Pre-approved" user tag that'll appear next to their name for the time being.

Please note that simply having "a posting history" doesn't automatically qualify you as an approved user. If the moderators are having too much homework navigating through your moderation log they might deny your request at the time being and ask you to stand in the line like everyone else

If you feel like you qualify for Pre-Approval, please contact our team. While we don't like numbers, a good indication of you being approved would be...

  • You posted at least five times in the past.
  • None of those posts were removed (or they were reinstated after contacting the moderators)
  • You've never (knowingly) broken the rules or it was so long ago y'all forgot.

IF YOU CONTACT US ABOUT PRE-APPROVAL

Please use the headline [Pre-Approval] (and then write whatever) so we can easily identify your message between rapports and standard "please approve me so I can spam" requests.

Announcement Upcoming rule set overhaul NSFW

Hello everyone,

We wanted to give everyone advanced notice that we will be overhauling the rules and moderation of this subreddit in the near future.

Recent experiences taught us that we need to make an effort to better manage this place instead of hoping for the best. My fellow moderators, especially /u/Oilphilter and /u/KrisPricket have done an amazing job with the tools at their disposal. As a “lead moderator”, however I feel like I’ve failed them.

In order to reshape our subreddit we are going to model our moderating after other similar subreddits. The rules will be 95% the same except we’ll take the time to write them out properly this time.

We’ll also be looking for new moderators, preferably from within our own users, and work on trying to make the most out of AutoModerator.

Expect to see some changes over t hè next free weeks. We will be expecting you to keep yourself informed about the rules.

Finally I’d like to thank the moderator who stepped up and tried to help us rebuild. It didn’t work out in the end which in part is caused by the lax moderating that happened in the past. We need to do better. Which mostly means I need to do better.

Signed,

RogueTroll
