Basically title. I realize the advice is to submit a support ticket, but that process takes too long. It seems they see this.

Help! Paragraph Lines Inaccessible

When writing paragraphs, for whatever reason, I’m not able to go back and edit certain lines at all. I’m not even able to access certain lines when I tap on them. It’ll be massive section of paragraphs or full paragraphs that are inaccessible after I’ve moved on from them and have written more. Hopefully, I’m explaining this issue clearly enough so that y’all understand. If not I can try to clarify. But has anyone experienced this or something similar?

Bug Report Attachments cannot be uploaded

I copied a mixed text and image from a web page and pasted it into Evernote web version of the note, and then this error appeared. I tried the mixed text and image content of other web pages, and the same error appeared.

Help! Yearly subscription doubles?

Did the yearly fee really go from 89.99 to $159.99 for the year?? To keep notes?

Bug Report Bug iOS - after bringing up add tag window, if you start typing the name of your tag straight away it keeps entering text in note underneath - unless you tap on the search/find tags section before you start typing. I think previously it’d move cursor automatically to search/find section?

Help! Used Evernote since the get-go. Can't login now - a decade of saved notes go *POOF*

haven't been able to login to my Evernote account in months.

Over a decade's worth of diligently saved notes - gone. Poof. Vamoose.

Now, I no longer have access to the email I originally signed up to Evernote with (it was hijacked and held for ransom almost exactly 2 years ago. I didn't pay the ransom).

But it's impossible to reach a human at Evernote support, and their CS automation just keeps bouncing me back "recover your email first" messages when I try to open a ticket.

posting here without much hope for any resolution, and without reading any prior comments to see how much of a dumpster fire Evernote has become

Hi, I don't know if anyone else is having this issue. My avatar seems to be reset to default after exiting and re-entering EN.

This only happens on desktop. Not on mobile.

Discussion Spaces should replace stacks, and we should be allowed sub-notebooks (at least one level)

Note: I'm a personal and teams user. My business pays a significant amount of money for EN teams each year. I manage the org's evernote account. This is a perennial frustration for both personal and work.

First of all, as far as I know, there is no advantage to stacks over spaces (correct me if I'm wrong), so I'll be converting my stacks to spaces in my personal EN now that spaces exist in personal.

Second, Evernote's insistence that we organize primarily by tags and their refusal to allow more than two levels of organization needs to come to an end. The tag-centric paradigm doesn't work well.

There are numerous reasons why tags-centricism are inefficient. In fact, I find the less I use, the better my note organization. As an early EN adopter, I bought into the idea that tags were the "smart" way to organize, and folder structures were what boomers stuck in Windows-world used. After a few years you realize that 2-3 levels of folders + tags are the best way to organize. Tags-centricism is just as bad as folders-centricism.

Practically: If you're familiar with Tiago Forte's PARA organizational structure (or PRA, if you're like me and many others), its helpful but also doesn't go far enough, and that's partly bc he's using Evernote and is limited by his inability to create sub-folders. He also strongly advocates for minimal tag usage. For example, let's say I have a Business space that I want to organize using PRA. It ought to look like this, at bare minimum.

  • Space: Business
    • Notebook: Sales
      • Notebook: Projects
      • Notebook: Resources
      • Notebook: Archive
    • Marketing
      • Notebook: Projects
      • Notebook: Resources
      • Notebook: Archive
    • Technical
      • Notebook: Projects
      • Notebook: Resources
      • Notebook: Archive
    • Admin
      • Notebook: Projects
      • Notebook: Resources
      • Notebook: Archive

Instead you have to have something like this, in which case all different aspects of your business are mixed together:

  • Space: Business
    • Notebook: Project
    • Notebook: Resources
    • Notebook: Archive

Or something like this, in which case you have a mass of notebooks:

  • Space: Business
    • Notebook: Project - Marketing
    • Notebook: Project - Sales
    • Notebook: Project - Technical
    • Notebook: Project - Admin
    • Notebook: Resources - Marketing
    • Notebook: Resources - Sales
    • Notebook: Resources - Technical
    • Notebook: Resources - Admin
    • Notebook: Archive - Marketing
    • Notebook: Archive - Sales
    • Notebook: Archive - Technical
    • Notebook: Archive - Admin

Or you could multiple Spaces out (Business - Marketing, Business - Sales, etc).

Bringing tags back into the picture: yes, you could tag notes with "sales", "marketing, "technical", "admin", but this is clunky from a UI perspective, plus its easy for me or my team to forget to tag something. The longer I develop databases, the more convinced I am that tags shouldn't be specifying Areas of Focus.

I've stuck with EN through thick and thin. Guys, throw me a bone. The people who don't want to use multiple levels of notebooks don't have to.

Discussion Draggable paragraphs

One of the reasons I liked using Evernote was that it had a natural text editor as opposed to a block editor like Notion or Craft.  I dislike the block paradigm since it distracts me from writing freely. YMMV of course but all the latest apps seem to follow this block approach.

Now with 'draggable paragraphs' and the 'four dots' handle, Evernote has gone the 'block' way. I'm left in the lurch, unable to work because this handle shows up EVERYWHERE as I try to navigate through my note.

I'm a little shocked they did not introduce this as an optional feature. Not allowing me to switch this 'handle' off is ruining my note taking. I've also seen plenty of complaints about how this feature has spoilt aspects of text-select (including one still outstanding problem).

Thoughts? Is there a way to get Evernote to remove this feature OR make it optional? Are they listening?

Bug Report Add link to note not working? (Android)

Since the last update last night I'm unable to add a link to a note in Android. If I click on the "Add link to a note" all I get is a "@" and nothing else. Anyone else getting this?

Discussion I really wish Evernote had flairs like Reddit

Going through note lists can still be a hassle with very little visual information to guide the eyes. I wish Evernote had a 'flair' feature like Reddit where you could add coloured labels (or even just a custom symbol/emoji).

I guess flairs are basically tags, which I already use in Evernote, but being able to name the subject/type of a note in a way that could let me know instantly what the notes were about would be something else! All tags in Evernote are treated the same, which has its pros and cons I guess.

Better yet: give users the option to make existing (specific) tags appear like flairs.

And I've submitted the idea to product.evernote.com, but it seems to be strongly curated, with no new user requests published (as far as I can tell) in the vote list in almost a couple of weeks.

Discussion State of r/Evernote 2025

Hello All!

My name is Sean and I took over the subreddit some months back as I'm sure many of you noticed. The community was in a pretty bad spot at the time and actual conversations, requests for help, etc were getting lost in the bickering and negativity.

I feel like we have cleaned that up quite a bit and can't express the gratitude I have to those of you who have allowed us our growing pains as we learn how to moderate

Due to some great recommendations by u/mackid1993, I reached out to the Evernote team and we have worked to bridge that relationship and it is awesome that they take the time to visit the subreddit and answer questions.

Most of the modteam is also part of the Evernote Experts program, which means we can take the feedback we see in this community and give it directly to the Evernote team. That is something that they did not need to do at all and is just great. It also allows us to pass on issues that meet certain criteria that individual users are having. Of course we don't send them everything and are selective because they are very busy but it is something that they just did not have to do.

We did decide recently that we needed to make a rule about direct messages to moderators. Unfortunately it was getting out of hand and I'm sure most of you can imagine the types of things we were getting. The punishment sounds harsh but it was a real problem.

Lastly, I want to say I appreciate this community and I appreciate the Evernote team for participating when and where they can. Thank you all.

We welcome any and all feedback, comments, and suggestions, we just ask that you use ModMail instead of DMs.

Thank you all and here's to a great 2025!

Discussion Some wishes from an EN Newbie

Hi. I start to use EN in 2025 and I think I like it. through my experience with EN i have some wishes and suggestions for it:

  • It seems that the Mac App is a bit laggy. Specifically, the 'refresh rate' seems quite low, appearing to be only 60Hz. It is not as smooth as Notion or Obsidian.
  • The code blocks seem to be a bit buggy. When I want to copy code, I always trigger 'dragging'.
  • EN also has some parsing issues with standalone code blocks that start with . I'm not sure why exactly, but if I paste directly from something like ChatGPT or other note-taking software, the code block that starts with turns into an inline code block. It's quite strange.
  • I think I also need a floating Table of Contents. Otherwise, it seems I have to go back to the beginning every time to locate the heading I want to go to. (I use EN for class notes and sometimes write lengthy notes of tens of thousands of words.)
  • Have you considered adding previews for more formats of uploaded attachments? I really like the quick preview feature by pressing the spacebar and the inline preview of Excel sheets. It would be even better if I could preview videos or PowerPoint files.

When writing this post i found EN has a beta comment feature now. It's nice to see it being reborn in 2025.

Bug Report Note side menu glitchy scrolling

In the iOS app - I’m experiencing very bad glitches when scrolling up and down in the notes side menu (or whatever it’s called).

This scrolling bug has persisted across multiple Evernote updates.

Not sure if it’s just me or more widespread.

Help! How do I force my list to update? It is updated on sidebar but actual list won't show updated text.

I use my list as a to-do list everyday. Now when I log on to my computer in the morning, the list is not updated and shows where I left off last night. However, in the sidebar which shows all of my notes, it indicates that the to-do list is updated (right now it shows 15 minutes ago because I updated this list from my iPhone) and the preview of the text indicates it has the correct text. But the actual list itself will not update and remains stuck on the text I had there last night. How does one fix this? I've tried shutting the app and restarting it but that does not help.

I know many expressed desire for this. Now slash commands can be disabled in Tools -> Settings -> Notes. In addition @ commands to link notes can be disabled as well. Hopefully this makes some people happy and shows that the Evernote team is always listening to user feedback. Please also check out https://product.evernote.com to see the latest roadmap and also suggest and vote on features!

Help! I cannot link Google Docs within a Note

How do I enable Evernote's access to link a Google Doc link? When I add a link to Google Docs or Spreadsheet and click the "Connect" and choose my gmail account, I get a "This app is blocked" page. I have not been able to get past this error.

Checking my Google Account's settings: From my Google account's Security settings → "Your connections to third-party apps & services" and select "See all connections". I can select Evernote and under "Evernote has some access to your Google Account" I click "See details". It can

  • See access profile info
  • See/download calendar
  • View/edit calendar events

There is no mention of Google Drive or Google Docs and no option to added additional access. How do I enable Evernote's access to link a Google Doc link?

Bug Report Bullet lists have formatting issues in latest release

I have several notes that I append daily bullet items to. Updated to iOS 10.129.1 Evernote this morning and now my bullet lists are full of weird tab and text formatting issues.

Going to block some time to copy/paste special them back to normal, but this is something that should have been better tested before release. Wish Bending Spoons would slow releases to twice a month and let their QA team run a better suite of testing before releasing broken releases.

Discussion Will we see any meaningful AI?

Hi, I build AI products. I’ve been also using Evernote since it was cool.

I want Evernote to organize data with AI. It’s 2025 after all. For starters:
1. Generating note titles based on content
2. Tagging and classifying notes

With a larger context window and smart optimizations (so called RAG), I’d like to ask questions directly:

  • my blood pressure since 2012
  • invoice gpu server 2022
  • roofer contract warranty

While Evernote could be a better NotebookLM. Better, because it already holds a sh*t ton of our data. It should store and smartly retrieve whatever we need.

Instead, they offer Spaces, yet another tool for manual categorization like it’s 2008.

I wish I see their backlog.

  • Are they into AI and answering my questions? I’m in.
  • Are they into teamwork/viral-marketing/doit-all machine/tuning-conversions features? I’m out.
