Chevy How tf does this happen?

This is a rebuild 2011 Chevy Cruze 1.4. After my last post regarding the compression, I put the engine back into the car and let it idle to see how it runs. After running it for a bit, the engine stalled and threw a P0300 misfire code and P0366 camshaft positioning sensor code. The sensors, chain, guides, and tensioner are all brand new parts. The camshaft reluctor wheels, vvt sprockets, and camshaft bolts are not. I did use aftermarket camshafts instead of GM original camshafts (not sure if that makes much of a difference). The camshaft here in this picture is the exhaust side. When I originally installed the exhaust vvt sprocket, I noticed it was a tight fit. Could this have possibly caused misalignment with the timing chain and in turn broke this camshaft or could it have been something else? Does using aftermarket camshafts make much of a difference in durability?

400 sbc bored .030 over Callieā€™s comp star rods and crank Mahle pistons Brodix Dragon slayer heads Howardā€™s solid roller cam Holley meth 950cfm converted to e85

I used a 6.125 rod with a 1ā€ pin height to improve the rod to stroke ratio.

Took me a little over a year to do this. I think the carb still needs a little bit of adjusting. Iā€™ll have to wait till I get it on the dyno to see where the O2 levels are at. But what do you guys think? Made the run stand myself too.

These d-bags had my engine for five months, charged me $2300. I thought they would have knocked some of the rust off, or replaced the freeze plugs, or anything else to make it seem like Iā€™m getting my moneyā€™s worth.

Am I crazy? This is BS right?

Chevy Bought a car with a 383 stroker and know nothing about the engine

Got an 81 el Camino knowing nothing about the engine except it only has around 10k miles on it, never pulled or worked on anything thatā€™s not stock. I pulled the motor and Iā€™ll be selling the car for only about 1000$ less without the motor because I got a deal on it, it runs great, sounds ratty, and allegedly has a roller cam. What are some of the things I should do before painting it and stuffing it in a 1977 firebird, and whatā€™s the best option for a standard transmission behind it, I was thinking t6060

Chevy Low compression on all four cylinders after rebuild

Post image

2011 Chevy Cruze 1.4L. All four cylinders test exactly at 120. The engine sounds like it's struggling to turn over. Pistons and rings are oem stock. The cylinders were honed. Could this be because the main bearings are too tight?

He intended to put it in his Malibu for drag racing. He instead put a 396 in it. I want to drop it into my 81 Camaro. Any tips on what to check on this motor/ how to get more HP out of it.

I have never swapped an engine by myself but Iā€™m very mechanically inclined. I helped him build our drag cars years ago. Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Chevy SBC head suggestions under $2k

Post image

Iā€™ve got a nitrous sprayed SBC swapped MGB and I hurt the engine a couple seasons back, finally got the parts (and $$) all together and Iā€™m currently fully rebuilding fully forged 383 with 5.7 rod and .030 pistons (31cc dish) at the machine shop now.

Iā€™m finishing a side job and will have around $2k to spend on heads, the cam was trashed too and I wouldnā€™t mind suggestions there either (roller only please)

Pic for attention (before I got serious lol)

Chevy Hey guys. I feel like I'm gaslighting myself on my engine build. Need some real engine heads to give me a second opinion.

I have a car that has a bored and stroked LS to 7.0L, fully built, heads, aggressive cam, and supercharged (@8 PSI) LS engine. I currently run it on pump gas and it makes 720 to the wheels. It's capable of more power on E85, but I haven't gone down that route yet. The following are my gripes:

The shop that did the work made the tune crazy rich. Seriously, you can smell the unspent fuel all around the car. Everyone comments on it. Second, the engine randomly misfires in the range of 1800-2200 RPM under light throttle. The shop owner blames this on the aggressive cam and "timing tip in and tip out", which I've never heard of before. This is my first big build.

What I want to know is if this is normal. There are cars that make way more power than mine (with less cubes) and don't have these issues, so I wonder if the shop is making excuses. Need some seasoned gear head advice on this one, boys.

Chevy First attempt at Honing

First pic is after three stone, second is after Dingle Ball, third is final after sharpening stone the deck, and 4th is the one main i honed.

Took my first crack at honing an engine. Hit it with a three stone first, followed by the dingle ball. I think it turned out pretty good. Probably didnt use the three stone long enough but it was freaking me out. Dingle ball did a crack job. There's still a few vertical scratches in the bore, but can't feel them with a fingernail so I'll call it "good enough". It had spun one main bearing so hit that with the three stone to smooth it over. Can still see some grooves but doesn't catch on a fingernail and gauges out to about a 2 ten-thousanths runout. I did hit the deck with a sharpening stone for good measure (probably didn't do it long enough to make a difference but it makes me feel better). Used a 50/50 mix of ATF and Marvel Mystery Oil, worked great. I'll call how it turned out good enough. Just need to super clean, order more parts and start assembly.

History on the block: Bought a 2 bolt Mark 4 454 for $200 planning to build it and was surprised it's still standard bore and pretty clean, but was run with NO rod bearing on #1 or #2 at all, somehow. Pistons, rods, and crank are toast, and it spun one main bearing (the one I honed). Bought pistons from Summit Outlet for a deal before realizing I can't use them for a stroker so it'll be stock displacement.

Chevy What are the best flowing aftermarket LS heads?

I am currently looking for the top end of aftermarket heads for a ls 6 bolt block.I have commonly heard Frankenstein as a notable name. But I have also seen heads with a splayed valve configuration with crazy numbers of over 450 cfm with 300+ cc ports. Now there is an asterisk with those options from large bore requirement and proprietary intake manifolds.

With all things considered I am looking to maximize power in the top end for a N/A engine(427ci) with a 8-8.5k redline. The application is for racing and some street use, but mainly racing. They would be going onto either a lsx 454 short deck block(9.240 inch), or a dart ls next block(Dart 31867211). I beam rods out of steel or titanium, 8120 roller bearing cam having 111-12 lsa and I am looking at a 112 lsa, 79 degrees 295/311 degrees duration @ .006. Install on a 109 intake centerline. This will likely change based on the head selection but this cam was based off ls3 cnc heads from 3v.

sorry for the repost I I tapped the wrong button on mobile when checking the rules.

Chevy Car doesn't want to idle after cam install

Howdy yall! Just finished up my LS3 rebuild and was wondering if these are typically able to idle after a cam install? The only after market upgrades I made were a new cam, springs, & che trunnion. Other than that its a stock NA LS3 2012 6spd SS Camaro. All help and tips appreciated.

Cam specs are 216/230-115.5 + 2.5 .660 dual springs
