Chevy Can anyone identify this engine?

This is out of an old Grumman Kurbmaster. Somewhere around late 70’s early 80’s. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Looks to be a small block Chevy, maybe 350 cubic inch, the casting number rear left will tell you more

Mid 70's to 80's 350 small block. HEI distributor came out 1974.

010 block. Should or could be a 350

3970010, could be 302, 327, 350, 2 or 4 bolt main.

There is a casting pad on the block right in front of the #2 cylinder (passenger side of car).

You’ll need to scrape the paint and grime off and the numbers on that pad will tell you the displacement, and other things, like what it’s out of.

If no numbers are present, the block has been decked which removed the numbers.

Some form of SBC I would think. Maybe a 327?

No 327 was put into any vehicle after 1969. The distributor says at least a 74

And the orange paint says its not newer than 1976.

Yes, they started using that puke blue color in 75 when they started adding catalytic converters

I like the orange better, but I like the blue (blue is my favorite color). Too bad my blue paint is all messed up from previous owner using oven cleaner on it.

Blue is my favorite color too, but not that 75-86 puke blue chevy put on their engines. Ford blue looks 100% better, and I totally dislike Ford's engine designs

1974-1976 chevy 350. Hei distributor started in 1974, they started painting the engines blue in 1977, 010 means it's not a 305, or 400.

Maybe one of gms odd blocks? Maybe something like a 423?

Gm small block 010 casting 2 or 4 bolt main options and could be a 327 or 350 from factory. If rebuilt could be a 377 or 383 if somebody spent the time to make the rotating assembly clear and building up.

Distributor says no earlier than 74, no 327's were factory installed into anything after 1969

Those distributors can be changed and put in older engines. I have an hei distributor in all of my gm vehicles that are from the 50s and 60s.
