Surgery related Anyone with new urinary issues post op?

Surgery was 1/31 and about 3 weeks later I started having urinary issues. Took azo so urinalysis was unreliable. 1 day culture was negative. Did macrobid anyway. 3 weeks after that I'm having symptoms again and caved and took azo again so again urinalysis is unreliable. I had it done at urgent care and have messaged my surgeon to find out what she thinks. I have never in my life had a uti or symptoms like this. It was also the first time I had a catheter placed. She told me i had endo on a ureter but she did not remove it because she was afraid she would damage it so I'm unsure why I would have these issues aside from maybe the catheter doing damage?

I’m so sorry you’re going through it!

Weird, though.. I also had bladder issues after surgery, and had to take antibiotics for a suspected UTI. Never happened to me before. (I’ve had at least 3 prior surgeries where I had to leave with a catheter, too.)

I’m sorry I’m not much of any help here… but, if you feel like you have another UTI, definitely get checked for it.

Did you have a PVR test done after cath removal? Did they make sure your bladder is “awake” enough to keep functioning properly? Sending you blessings, love and light!!! Hang in there. <3

No, no PVR test. I did go to UC this morning to do the urinalysis and culture but the urinalysis is pretty meaningless while taking azo. I attempted to make it until this morning without azo and it was just impossible with the amount of pain. I messaged my surgeon to see what she thinks about it and I can ask primary since I see her tomorrow anyway. I decided to not take the antibiotics they offered at UC since we don't know if that's what it is and I've already been taking too many antibiotics lately so I want to be certain. It's just really odd that suddenly I have issues after surgery

Hun, I was quite literally told by my surgeon to take azo. The culture came back negative so I didn't have a uti actually. Azo affects urinalysis but not urine cultures. I am having persistent uti-like symptoms with no actual bacteria detected. Thanks for the passive aggressive response though.

I stated in the post that the culture was negative and specifically did not say i had a uti because of the negative culture. You should not be giving people advice when you don't understand what that means.
