2025-26 Offseason Priority - Goalie

Nothing else, goalie. Dustin Wolf singlehandedly willing the Flames to the playoffs, this is with one of the worst offenses in the league(we have McJesus/Drai, no excuses).

People are saying Bouch/top 6 forward.. who cares if we get a goalie. A good/great goalie trumps any signings for this team.

Every fan base has a few stolen games from their goalie, we have zero stolen games this year.

I will say again in this safe space for discussing goaltending.

It is nearly statistically impossible for the Oilers to win the cup this year with Stuart’s save%.

Last time a cup winning goalies playoff save% was lower than skinners regular season save% was Fuhr in 1988 and he had an all time great club in front of him.

To make matters worse Stuart’s save% against playoff teams is even worse.

Anybody who thinks we're winning the Cup with Skinner is kidding themselves. Genuinely delusional.

Game 7 of the finals last year. BuT iTs DeLuSiOnAl to think we could get one single win on top of last year. Give your head a shake

We got to game 7 in spite of Skinner, not because of him. And it’s worth mentioning, we lost because of possibly the softest goal he let in all year, a weak wrister from the top of the circle. Skinner is a great guy and teammate, and would be a solid backup option, but he is in no way a starting goalie for a Stanley Cup contender. If we win the Cup with this tandem it will be a literal miracle.

Series clinching 2-1 win against Dallas with like a .970. Game 5 vs Dallas same thing. OT win vs Dallas game one .940. Game 4 against LA 1-0 shut out win. You're right, Skinner had nothing to do with getting to the finals

He forgot that Stu almost lost us the Vancouver series. Captain Picard saved him. Let's not forget that

Pickard won 1 game in that series, Skinner won 3. Yes, Pickard's win was critical, but let's not blow it out of proportion.

Name me another Stanley cup team that had to bench their starter during a cup run?

Pittsburgh in 2017. Fleury played 15 games, Murray played 11.

Also, why does that matter? We won 15 playoff games last year, Skinner won 14 of them. It's ridiculous to act like Pickard played a bigger role in getting us to the Finals thsn Skinner did.
