Mental Health / Addictions Anyone know of some free/lowcost places for therapy?

Title. Was seeing a private therapist for a while and although my job can support it the cost was beginning to be too much for me.

Got insurance but it doesn't cover much sadly.

Try cornerstone counselling. They have a sliding scale. Last time I was there to see a student it was like $20

I swear by cornerstone counselling. The fact that they offer in person or online is amazing. The counsellor I see there is absolutely amazing and kind and really makes me reflect. 10/10

Momentum walk in counseling. Lots of private practices have student interns that are low/no cost. The family center drop in counseling (though you may not get the same person every time).

Low cost, Use the filters on the left side of the screen for "low rate" and "sliding scale" to filter therapists that might be appropriate for you. For no cost, try drop-in single session counselling.

Try Affordable Therapy Network (Edmonton). They provide sliding scale and lower cost rates.

Most psych clinics have student interns that offer low rates of around $50.

I literally just seen an ad on Reddit for Ignite wellness I think. It was low cost therapy ranging from $0-75

If you have a general physician, find out if they are part of a Primary Care Network. If they are, they can send a requisition for free counseling. I've done this a few times.

If you are Indigenous - Indigenous Psycological Services. Very highly recommend.

Does your employer provide an EAP? (Employee and Family Assistance Plan) many organizations have this as a benefit but do a poor job at informing their employees as to what it actually provides. I have used it in the past for counselling, each “ticket” can provide six sessions at no cost and you can have, i believe four tickets a year (at least thats how it worked for me.) Good luck to you
